A staple in these games is reposting moments that you saw that you thought were really cool, funny, touching, well-played, or just... you know, memorable!


First one for me this game (and there's been good stuff so far already!) was here:

Subject: [Expecting] Changing Your Tune Up (Day 0 - LA)

"Uh, yeah, yeah a storyteller you know."
Storytellers were usually pretty poor after all. Ochiba's eyes glaze over slightly at even the bare mention of stewardship of historical heritage and education.

"Yeah, I'm officially here on duty for the celebrations and all that. But hey, if you're a local...."
she drops her voice
"So the Governor looks like a baddie? And she's ex-special forces? Is she actually a looker or are we just dealing with some typical Yasuki massaging of the goods on sale?"

Hitomi pressed her lips together tightly on the impulse to cough up her mouthful of juice, swallowing carefully as her neck reddened. If she had a mirror, she'd have been pleased to see how well the morning's makeup was still holding up, almost entirely hiding the color certainly rising to her cheeks.

"I...don't think I'm the best judge of that, and I'm sure there's no goods on sale there!" she finally sputtered. If Ayame was hunting for a match it certainly wasn't going to be through the current scheme. "She's well-liked here and seems to take her duties serious, including her service with Crab forces." A half shrug accompanies her lack of knowledge of Crab military activities, "not that I know anything about her time before taking over from her father here."

"I have it on good authority, as a shugenja, that Shinsei's teachings say we should spoil our friends and allies, and make them happy," Kanna said with full confidence.

Shinsei had never ever said that, but she was confident those words were in that dusty old document anyway.

"Please, you deserve it."

Child-Killer is a lot of fun to duel:

"Under the hot sun!" A booming voice is heard.

"Upon the burning sand!" A woman dressed in Scorpion colors makes her appearance.

"On this foreign land!" The voice is hers.

"I challenge the!" She exclaims theatrically and offers a graceful bow.

"I'm a bit too much sometimes." She admits in her normal tone. "I aimed for comedy. Hopefully I didn't miss entirely. Bayushi Senshuken. I believe we have a drone duel scheduled?"

This is gonna be fun! Senshu gets acquainted with little Jiro kun. The first lesson she has to offer is one about marketing. How to create a need even if there's none in reality. People need to be persuaded that they really need everything the duo has to offer, varying from Jiro's old comb to his first pair of socks!

"Ok, mate. We have made it so far!" She encourages the young fellow. "Do you know the difference between real truth and relative truth? Okay I will explain."

She thinks for a moment. "Let's say that your guardian has told you that you're only allowed to play outside once you've done your homework."

"Now now. There are two options. A. You do your homework, you say 'I' m done with homework. I'm going out.' But! What if you don't want to do your homework? You can say 'I'm done here. I'm going out.'"

She looks at the kid. "That's ambiguous. It's not technically a lie, right? You could just mean that you're bored or tired. The word homework isn't mentioned, but it's probably what your guardian will understand. Well... Bad for them!"

"Let's go now! That old toothbrush of yours won't sell itself!"

Oh nooo the child is learning to lie!

Babysitting was not what Ochiba had on her list of holiday activities on the island (in fact, it was rank 8 on her 'list of things not to do'). So there are a few awkward moments as she and the Yasuki kid who'd introduced himself as Jubei size eachother up.

Long pause.
"Umm, Mantis-sama, sorry but I really think we should get started. My parents are going through it in court and I need to earn enough to make sure mom isn't going to worry about me at the new dojo."
"...Your mom's relying on you?"
"Yes?"
Ochiba punches a fist in the air, now surging with energy.
"Okay then Kid, with your nerd brain-"
"I'm actually just middle of my cla-"
"- Your nerd brain, we're going to beat everyone else here and have you drowning in koku at the end. Ain't no way we're losing"

Setting question about the natural onsen at Ryu River! What is the local etiquette re: gender segregation (and I guess maybe swimsuits/no swimsuits, although I think I wouldn't want to wear a suit in a sulphur spring irl...)?

Yasuki Casual, which is the same as Suzume Formal, which is the same as Doji Secret Art Party Orgy.

(neutral to segregation and dress, but be on good behavior!)

Man, and here I thought we were going Togashi Black Tie for formality!

There was a brief pause as one of the birds looked around, then it made a low warbling sound to its presumed mate not far away.

"Blimey, I think that thing over there is talking to me." Of course, only Kanna could understand.

Another brief pause, then it honked again, flapping its flightless wings a bit.

"Hello there. Very nice day we're having, innit?" It said, very politely. At least, for a bird.

From the cold mountains of the great north and under the service of a top super secret unit is Sniper Ronin!



"I was born on the battlefield, raised on the battlefield," Ayame would make her entrance to the party, dressed in a form-fitting jumpsuit with a blonde wig. It was admittedly hot today, so the jump might have found its way not entirely zipped. Sure, Jan-san. That was the reason, an entirely coincidental stylistic choice. She attempted to make her way to the scene with a running charge and an acrobatic roll, but doing so in these particular non-standard issue boots proved to be difficult, and Ayame's entrance resulted in a fumble forward into a wall. "Ooof!"

There was an audible gasp with some wishing for a costume mishap afterwards, but Ayame managed to at least keep her fabric on her body in the right places.

At the party, she wasn't one to hold back and was sure to party to excess. It was in the name of the event, after all, no need to hold back! She could party and hold her drinks like a Crab, at least.

When the party drew to a close and some judges needed convincing, Ayame tried to entice them with a few ball serves into the crowd. That was often a crowd-pleaser. However, she would miss her shots, and the ball would send her fumbling back into obscurity!

Damn, that would always work! No matter, no more games. Now's the serious stuff. Let's show'em how it's done! Her next tactic would be to utilize her airsoft sniper gun to shoot a few beer cans out of the air in an impressive show of accuracy!

The cans went up in the air...and dropped back down unceremoniously.

"Huh...just not my night tonight."
"Forever night!" Someone in the crowd would call out.
"What's that? I can't hear you! You want to say that again?! To my FACE?!" She called back with some growing hostility.
The crowd looked at each other at the sudden outburst, but ultimately, nobody would own up to it.

I'm impressed at finding a person in a bird costume that looks so much like the birds in this game.

A large, flightless indigenous bird bobs past the drinks table. Since it has to push back the head piece to actually drink, at occasional intervals the head underneath the bird's is revealed to be that of Agasha Sorato.

Fortunately in one of her trips around the kharmic wheel, Taraka had learned that this is why you don't take Contrary.

I laughed so hard!

In a dark lit room the audience gathered, the screen blank. Then, it opens to a view of the ocean. Following, the screen moves to a shot of a small crustacean 'darting' through coral reef waters.

"The Opal Darter..."

The narration begins. His voice is immediately soothing as it strikes a distinct note.

"This small crab with its opalescent outer shell is one of the most elusive crustaceans in the waters of Green Carp."

From there on it was a full documentary on various species of crab living near Shiawase island. From Honoka's notes on further episodes in the series which could focus on different crabs from different planets. Going further to suggest they could even add other types of crustaceans in there as a treat once in a while.

Ultimately, though the show was well received largely due to the excellent casting that was not used to his full potential it would not likely be picked up for further episodes. Honoka hasn't expected, and really no one had, the potential of Hida Yattanburo. Due to this, unfortunately, there was a lot more they could have done off camera to really accentuate his performance that could have allowed him to properly shine. Surely Silver Fin Productions will be sure to correct this with his casting moving forward.

I for one look forward to follow Hida Yattanburo's career more closely in the future.

I always delight in KITTEH CAN DO ANYTHING!

Show business is Crane Business. Hiroki was in his ELEMENT!!!!!

The Pitch . . . We're on an island, what do Island's have? Coasts!
What do coasts have? Beaches!
What do beaches have? SAND!
What needs sand? OSHIDAMA DOES!

And Thus was "Oshidama Days" born. A daytime 'drama' in the best escandalo fashion, but with added oshidama . . . and oshidama costumes.

Now "Oshidama Days" needed a star. A true STAR and for that Hiroki went to what the Crab do best. WRESTLE. So Hida Shiroyuki was hired to become the first wrestler/actor/oshidama star ever . . . well maybe ever, Ki-kun didn't bother checking if it had been done before. Let the Asako and Ikoma trawl through the archives, Kakita were all about HEADLINES.

Now direction was needed so Ki-kun donned his best director's beret, grabbed a megaphone . . . and a stepladder so he could see over the camera, and started directing! He was absolutely stupendous at it . . . much to his own surprise. He didn't forget the needed details like camera angles, lighting and the very important proper sounded clap every time the clapperboard was used. He even ordered retakes when he thought the clapperboard clap wasn't quite right. Some of the crew were more than a little surprised at the expert direction to the kidnapping/knife fight scene, wondering where in the galaxy did a Crane learn that?

But the true star of the show was Shiroyuki! He excelled in this role, translating wrestling skills into . . . well wrestling skills but in a drama. He was especially good in the absolutely necessary ESCANDALO betrayal scenes, and he played oshidama real well . . . oh my were those close ups good!!!

And he never even once . . . removed . . . his . . . wrestling . . . mask.

An instant award winner, thought Ki-kun. Absolute cinema.

Which is really fun to see as an old-timer, and I think likely adds some sense of depth for the newer folks, even if they don't notice them.

Yakumo had arrived!!!! Or had she . . . . ? She seemed . . . a little shorter than usual and a good deal healthier and was smirking a lot . . . oh well, one did not question Spider Superstars.

After a classy entrance, worthy of a red carpet anywhere, and absolutely no hint of a wardrobe malfunction, this shorter, newer . . . healthier Yakumo proceeded to drink, schmooze and enjoy "herself" immensely, before pulling off a beautiful song and dance combo to one of Yakumo's hits Morning Star . . . in a definitely very slightly more masculine voice than usual.

. . . and did we mention shorter? Yes? Good good.

Not a huge plot point or anything, but awww.

I can guide you to getting a Tobiuo transit card. We recently had them redone with the input of local artisans. The ones feature Koi-kun in various outfits, depending on which machine you buy them from. If you get one from most bus stops, he'll be wearing a bus driver uniform but if you get it from Namigashira Bay, he'll be surfing. They're pretty location-based and collectable."
