[Day 2 - Early Afternoon] My First Market (RP Thread)

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"I'm not sure the Yasuki were quite aware of what they were doing, putting an impressionable youth in my hands," Kazushi says to no one in particular as he exits, bidding his young charge farewell. "Ah well, if they lose, perhaps I'll stand to...gain..."

...and then he stops, spotting perhaps the only person on the street whose cutting-edge style comes anywhere close to his own. At last, he thought, someone who looks good enough to be seen with.

Approaching Susumu Ami, Kazushi bows, perhaps a bit lower than would be required. "Good afternoon, Susumu-san. I don't think we've had the pleasure of being introduced," he begins, "but I could not help but admire your sense of fashion. I believe I detect the scent of Shahai no. 5, as well? A fine choice... In any case, I am Bayushi Kazushi of the Orchid Department."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime still had Satoshi-kun on her shoulders for a good while until it was time for him to return to his parents with his very decent winnings.

Commerce was not her strong suit but she like kids and seemed to have done fairly well over all. Commerce is the opposite of gambling, she had been told and thus told the young Yasuki: the gambler will always prefer to put money on the table for a chance to roll the dice but the merchant would rather put the money in his pocket instead and leave the dice where it was.

[Bayushi Hinata]

Sumiko one of her pretty kimonos, had seen Ryoo off back to the sensei with his well earned sales and now moved to wander around the market herself. Sipping on a drink as she did so.

Hinata for his part was still dressed in his usual elegant and still practical business suit. The tools of his trade hung openly at his hip as he retrieved them from the stall he had constructed with his ward. As he packs up he spots the Spider, waving her way.

"Susumu-san! Over here!" He says with a wide, welcoming smile. Arachnids must get along fine right?

"Are you already done with your own ward? Did you do well?"

[Tamori Kanna]

Still exhausted but at least a tad cooler, Suh-Hyun made her way to an outdoor setting area. She was nursing her third bottle of water and her brain was taunting her with survival training calculations related to heat stroke, core temperature, and hydration. So that was nice.

Dropping into an empty seat she leaned back and watched the crowd.

"Oh wow, those sunglasses are awesome," Kanna said as she spotted the Shinjo nearby. The small Dragon was dressed modestly for the warm weather herself, abiding more with the local climate today than the season's fashion.

She sipped from a chilled box of juice offered by the smaller Kanna's parent.

[Susumu Sumiko]

Hinata for his part was still dressed in his usual elegant and still practical business suit. The tools of his trade hung openly at his hip as he retrieved them from the stall he had constructed with his ward. As he packs up he spots the Spider, waving her way.

"Susumu-san! Over here!" He says with a wide, welcoming smile. Arachnids must get along fine right?

"Are you already done with your own ward? Did you do well?"

Sumiko heard the voice and turned, then smiled brightly and bowed.

"Hi Bayushi-sama! Did you enjoy this event? It's very interesting huh, seeing the Yasuki traditions. Ah, hai Ryoo-kun has been returned to his sensei safe and sound after selling out of his entire stall. Very smart kid, he'll go far. Just look at the sign he made" she motioned nearby to the bright banner with shiny crabs walking along a beach holding different trinkets and toys then turned back to the stall "how is this one going?"

Sumiko heard the voice and turned, then smiled brightly and bowed.

"Hi Bayushi-sama! Did you enjoy this event? It's very interesting huh, seeing the Yasuki traditions. Ah, hai Ryoo-kun has been returned to his sensei safe and sound after selling out of his entire stall. Very smart kid, he'll go far. Just look at the sign he made" she motioned nearby to the bright banner with shiny crabs walking along a beach holding different trinkets and toys then turned back to the stall "how is this one going?"

Hinata leaned over their own stall, all that remained were a few dolls and older plushies. The stall itself looked attractive in a tasteful way. But it was quite evident what the sales pitch was with the handsome man standing over it.

"Sango-san did very well! Despite my inexperience in commercial matters I think we pulled throu-" He twitches and grits his teeth for a moment. Pulling away from the stall. The young girl staring angrily at him.

"I still have stock to sell! Advertise!" The child had a terrifying look about her. She'd be a Taskmaster it seems...

"H- Hai... So! Susumu-san! Here we have a selection of collector's items! Care to peruse our stock?"

It was almost jarring how Hinata could "turn on" the charm. His voice turned silky and mannerisms distracting as he gestures over the wares the girl was selling.

[Yasuki Umiko]

"I see. Well, we'll help anyone who will take us. I'm far better at performing than trading, but we'll make it fun."

"I think none of us will mind if you wish to perform for us, Kitsune-san," she smiled at him encouragingly. "Trading and selling are quite easy, actually. You just need to help make a few sales to fulfill a quota..."

She paused for a moment in consideration. Well, not everyone came from a mercantile background, so maybe it wasn't so easy for some visitors.

"But I'm sure that your wealth of knowledge after working in the entertainment business and being around the Empire will allow you to impart some sort of knowledge to your ward, no matter how little that might be. Or perhaps, you could do a short performance to attract some people to the table, and they could potentially be enticed or encouraged to buy something afterwards. Of course, I'm not sure how your entertainment contract operates. We understand if you can only perform when you're filming, rather than outside of your contract, of course."

"I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have with the whole event," She pulled out her densai, and a holographic chart emerged from it. Umiko navigated through a list of potential candidates. "There's Yuriko-chan, Sakura-chan, Nishi-kun, who might be receptive to having you with them."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I am always willing to perform, cameras or not." He grinned. "I do understand the limitations of contracts, however, which may give me some insight I can share."

He considered the suggestions. "Nishi-kun. I'll do my best to help him."

[Kakita Hiroki]

Hiroki wandered . . . or maybe staggered over, more than a little winded by his final interaction before saying goodbye to Sakura-chan, when she had nearly hugged the life out of him, and then took a moment to make sure his outfit hadn't been mussed at all.

Not that there was that much to his outfit today, it being designer slip on flats, very short socks, equally short shorts and an asymmetric top, long sleeved to the right, no sleeve and off the shoulder to the left. No head covering today and all in powder blue. His makeup was understated and the jewellery heavy on the silver and sapphires at his neck, ears and all three of his braids.

He blinked a few times and looked a round to see who was present.

"What a lovely tradition the hosts have let us partake in, yes? To be trusted with the younger generation like this, and taking part in this time-honored event."

[Soshi Kotori]

Kotori arrived back from the market quicker than necessary - she could have stayed with the child longer, but the result seemed substantial enough and she wanted to make sure to return them before the returns policy expired. There was something nostalgic about seeing children at that time in their life - easily influenceable and desperate to succeed and be acknowledged. Now, she shuddered at the thought.

With the task at hand complete, and the child out of her hair she sighed softly in relief and took in her surroundings - perhaps a little walk about wouldn't hurt.

Which was when the Stingerless Scorpion came across a tall and sharp woman, with pale skin, sharp slate eyes and white air, and much like the Scorpion, mouth covered, with a porcelain rebreather. She would look intimidating at first glance, were not for her mismatching attire, with a Kitsuki mon hanging off her belt.

Ichitaiyo would finally feel a little thrill, as she finally came across some danger in these streets.

"Good day, Soshi-san."

She sighed at that, "I needed a break though myself, I was wearing a costume to help draw customers in." She skipped the 'and then I got into a breakdance competition with a Hida' part. "'Kanna Buy It? Yes You Can!' Oh I have heard about your little shop. Lucky kid to have a good mentor."

Sumiko looked at the child berating Hinata with a mix of amusement and concern. She didn't comment on the child though, instead turning to look at the wares on display.

"Oh you do have an interesting remaining selection! Why don't you tell me more about these?" she motioned to the small pile of older plushes "they look like they've got a story to them."

[Tamori Kanna]

"The Unicorn gather together like this to ride bikes? That sounds wonderful! Maybe we'll get a chance to do something like that too while we're here... hopefully!"

Kotori looked for more scorpion at a distance where the deep black and stark bloody red of her clothes dominated her appearance. On a closer look, she was a little more delicate than one might expect, and her soft brown eyes were the only discernible feature visible -peering out over the veil.

"And to you -" Her eyes drift to the mon hanging from her belt. "Kitsuki-san. I don't believe we've yet had the pleasure of meeting?"

Kotori looked for more scorpion at a distance where the deep black and stark bloody red of her clothes dominated her appearance. On a closer look, she was a little more delicate than one might expect, and her soft brown eyes were the only discernible feature visible -peering out over the veil.

"Kitsuki Ichitaiyo, corporate adjutant to Switftslates Corporation." She introduced herself, bowing forty-five degrees down. "I have been quite too busy to engage in much social life since my arrival."

"Care to talk under a shade? Otherwise my skin might bear your clan's colors."

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"You have? Oh thank you, that is very kind. It's all Little Kanna's hard work," bigger Kanna was happy to applaud her business-partner in today's venture. "I will have to look at the horseshoe crab trinkets later. Don't think I've seen a horseshoe crab before..." she must've missed it yesterday at Crabkaku.

"The Unicorn gather together like this to ride bikes? That sounds wonderful! Maybe we'll get a chance to do something like that too while we're here... hopefully!"

"It's carried over from the old traditions. Born into the saddle as they say," Meanwhile Suh-Hyun was happy that her charge was doing so well, but not eager to put the suit back on. "On old Rokugan they would teach the children to ride horses almost as soon as their feet could reach stirrups. Even earlier if it could be managed. I suspect some of my kin still in the old lands maintain that tradition. Bikes have served well enough since moving to the stars."

She took a sip of water, "Does your family have any similar coming of age traditions?"

[Soshi Kotori]

"Soshi Kotori of Kochako - From the Soshi Entertainment and News Nework." She introduced with a respectful bow before nodding. "Of course."

She proceeded to the specified shade as she spoke.
"It seems most have been enthusiastic towards exploring rhe resort side of the island as much as the business prospects -do you not feel differently?"
