(D12, EA) FBC Awards and Grand Melee

[Yasuki Taraka]

(Assume you're here all along if you show up in this thread, no need to bog this down with entrances)

It always seemed like this beach was always wet. The rain always seemed to clear off just in time for dueling upon the sand. But this was no ordinary duel, it was the awards show, and grand melee!

Taraka addressed the crowd of pilots.

"Thank you to everyone who made this league's competition so exciting! I know we had a lot of new faces competing, and I'm hopeful that your actions will inspire others to take up the sport. Let me hand out the awards really quickly, because I know you are all really here for the grand melee!"

She took out the five original plushies and would hand them out to the winning pilots.

"In fifth place, Miya Kisha with 'The Hope of the People!' she said, handing Kisha (or her delegated award accepter) a pale blue crab plushie.

"In forth place, a familiar face to you all, Utaku Itsuka with The Char", she said handing Itsuka (or DAR) A red crab with a little felt book plushie.

"In third place, yet another Unicorn, Shinjo Suh-Hyun with Old Magpie", she said handing Suh-Hyun (or DAR) A white crab with red lines plushie.

"In second place, the most excellent Kakita Haruhi with Sky Blue," she said handing Haruhi (or DAR) A black crab with a single splash of red in the center plushie.

"And, of course, in first place, you all know her, you've all fought her, it's Bayushi Senshuken with Pinky Swear!" she said handing Senshuken (or DAR) a double-sized red crab plushie.

"Congratulations ladies! But no time for speeches, it's time to get to the grand melee!" she said, setting her own drone up.

"So, you've all been dueling it out this season, but now it's time for the most chaotic battlefield. We're all taking off together, and it's last one standing takes the win. Who will it be? Will people come to take down Senshuken, or will she fight everyone off? It's time to fly!


(Grand Melee Rules: All pilots make 5 Agi/Piloting rolls. Whomever has the lowest 1st roll, goes down first, then of the remaining duelists lowest second roll, and so on. If we get to fifth roll with multiple people still in, it's the highest 5th roll that wins the melee. Good Luck!)

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha is there, and she accepts her plushie with an honest smile and a bow, as well as a wink for her friend.

Tucking away the pale blue crab, Kisha opens the pack where the Hope of the People rests, waiting to leap into the air once again. Starting the drone, she hustles herself clear of the combat area and shoots it aloft...

[Bayushi Senshuken]

Bayushi Senshuken steps onto the makeshift podium like it’s a runway someone accidentally placed in a warehouse. Sweat slick, sun kissed, bruised in all the attractive places, she accepts the championship plushie with a lazy two finger salute and a grin that promises future crimes.

She taps the mic once. "Two thank yous.” Her voice equals mischief. “Yasuki Taraka. My eternal bad influence and future partner in crime. No, we are not getting marriage, we're opening a business. And my mom, for making me… well, me.” She pauses, nodding sagely, as if delivering ancient philosophical truth.
“Her latest wisdom: ‘Lie to yourself, Senshu chan. Lie like you’ve never done before.’”
She shrugs. “I know, I know. You want her as your mom too.”

With that Senshu steps off the podium, the trophy tucked under her arm, her swagger back in full force. She kneels to check her drone and begins her ritual of tightening screws and flicking switches like she’s loading a weapon.

[Kakita Haruhi]

Haruhi was beside herself in joyful excitement. 2nd place! Wow!

And that meant she got the black and red plushie which was the Scorpion looking one, to her mind, and therefore precisely the one she wanted to hug to her chest. And that's what she did!

Her voice was beautiful as she spoke to the crowd. "Thank to Yasuki-san for introducing me to drone dueling! And to Bayushi-san for showing me how to pilot!" She wanted to say Senshu, but thought this was a tad public for that.

"I look forward to continuing to play in future tournaments!"


A grand melee was a new concept to her, and a little overwhelming. But she did her best!

[Susumu Sumiko]

Sumiko gave a small clap as the winners were read out. She hadn't placed but it was fun, even though the plushies would have looked great in her collection!

Then the idea of a grand melee was suggested? How fun! She prepared her drone, and decided to go full send! Which seemed to work well for the start and she wasn't the first eliminated. She didn't last much longer though.

[Kuni Sumie]

Like Sumie wanted some lousy plushies as prizes! Here she thought the prizes were going to be something more cooler or at least practical! Maybe a tour of the jungles to fight the Jigoku Flower? Or tickets to a resort vacation on a tropical island? Sorry (not sorry), a less lame tropical island where the governor wasn't a fifthy flaunting casual! This was a Yasuki Island, right? Maybe something nautical themed? Like rope? How about a set of Kaiu-forged unbreakable meat hooks? A net? She should use a net...

Grand melee? Was this one of those events where the winner completely skirts the leaderboard and takes all the prizing? Sumie didn't have time to read the fine print or reason, especially when she had a fancy 'new' toy in her hands, a temple-blessed...no, temple-cursed Flying Battle Carp, Pointless...Mark 2! Pointless Mark 2 reeked of expensive alcohol as it flew about with a struggling motor, but Sumie didn't care. This was the edge she needed to win!

"Get wrecked!" She called out to her drone. "Kill 'em all! Except me!"

[Utaku Itsuka]

Itsuka was certainly there - for receiving her prize, which she cherishes and happily finds a place for in her bag, but mainly to see the others and watch them fight.

She refrains from getting into the melee herself, though, saying this time she'd just watch them. Not because her player was hardly active while dice could still be rolled, no. That was just a coincidence. The real reason is she wanted to watch the others' style and strategies as they tried to best the others. A melee like this was completely different from one-on-one duels, and she was fascinated seeing how the other pilots would approach it.
