Just to clarify players are not rolling in the event so no void is being spent? Other than phantom skill ranks for +1 I assume

Structural Damage: 3k3 and the officer loses 1 Range Damage Unit (it can no longer roll for damage in this event)
Do we choose which Ranged unit if we have multiple?

Can we spend VP for a phantom rank of Battle for damage?
Step 1: Roll Damage for a unit of the officer's choice, deduct from the enemy wounds. Repeat this until all units rolled for damage once this round.
Step 2: If the enemy is still standing, roll their Structural Damage and deduct from the Shiro and suffer any of their attack effects.
Step 3: If the enemy is undefeated (it has 1 Wound or more), return to Step 1. If the enemy is defeated, return to Step 1, all of the officer's units choices are refreshed (as in they can select any one).
At which step can we do Heroic actions? Any step? Step 1?

Can jiujitsu be used instead of any weapon skill to determine damage with the Ashigaru unit?

Yes, the characters themselves are not rolling in this event. No techniques. No dice pools. Only relevant skills as per the event. Yes, you can only use Void for +1 Phantom Skills.

Yes, you can choose the range unit if you have multiple.

Yes, you can Void for a phantom rank to add to damage.

If the Heroic Actions have no timing mention (like the Kaiu Engineers, I believe), then they can used any time. So the Hiruma Skirmishers can do their damage AND exhaust to do an immediate extra damage. The Kuni Shugenja can do their damage AND exhaust to stop damage about to be done.

Yes, I'll allow it. Ashigaru are simple, they just need spirit and determination!

I'm guessing void also can't be used to prevent structure damage?

No, Void cannot be used to stop structure damage.

Wargames event. If I have let's say 2 melee units and a sapper unit. At the penultimate stage, would the effect of Ulugu no Oni specifically prevent the sappers from triggering?

That's to say, is the ordert of operations specifically "Deal damage to enemy, enemy deals damage back, triggers effect, Sappers gone before they can activate heroic action"?

Sadly, yes. You have to take the damage and effects on the chin before the Sappers can activate. Ulugu on Oni teleports behind them and eats them!

If a unit picked as Honor Guard is Exhausted does the officer get to pick a new one?

Absolutely not. Exhaustion is a cost and a tactical decision.

And just to confirm reading comprehension: The Honor Guard bonus only applies to Heavy Artillery on their heroic shooting? So they're 2k2 even if led by a character.

For engineering, yes.
For bushi rank, you can add to the damage.

This is mostly indiscriminate artillery splash damage rather than direct damage.

Dearests, a few clarifications on the boat event (which is a bit more challenging than I hoped, sorry!):

1) Note stage 1-B involves two steering rolls!
1 B) Steering
Stage 1 involves two steering rolls, each at a base TN of 20.
2) For Stage 2-A, note the Wait... where? failure removes the team from the race if you go into negative speed after rolling this Speed Loss. This is still a tad too punishing and the re-roll should probably have a TN decrease added into it if this had been designed and playtested properly ( :oops: ), but it still tends to avoid infinite loops (although only because the doom spiral tends to end sooner...)
Headwind Navigation failures: Roll 1d4

4) Wait... where?: reduce your total Speed Points by 4k2, and you must roll the Navigation section of 'Pushing to the islet' again. If you go into negatives due to this roll, you lose your way completely and must be rescued by the Safety Crew. This removes your team from the race. If you get this result twice or more due to the same failed roll, count all such results after the first as 'Motor Overheat' instead.
3) Note Engineering rolls can be made at any point, and failing in them has no cost other than Speed Points. So if TNs for Navigation and Steering suddenly get insurmountable, remember you can try to get things fixed by slowing down!

Engineering rolls no longer increase their TN after each use, which might make it easier to fix problems (at a cost in time with each use). This has been updated in the event.

Not in the slightest :D I saw how quickly the boat was going down. All Fix Me Up rolls were going to do was just give me even more -5 TU. So either the dice were going to suddenly start rolling really high so I could arrive at the finish like Jack Sparrow stepping off the crow's nest, or I was going to go sailing away. I'm completely happy with this :)

If the heroic action of an honor guard unit is something that deals damage, does that damage still get the honor guard bonus?

I rolled as if it did. And it wasn't necessary. But in hindsight, I should ask about that.
