[Day 8 - Late Morning, Magistrate's Office] Mourning Vigil (Open)

[Yasuki Umiko]

The news of Yasuki Kaito's passing was released to the public with as little sensationalism as possible. It might have been difficult, considering that the murderer lurked in the island's self-defence force and seemingly had a very elaborate way of going about his killers, as well as (very) grandiose plans of going after the government. To say that Kaito would have wanted to die with this much sensationalism behind him would be highly gross to suggest. However, it seemed admittedly fitting, considering his early career in stream media...

Kaito's body would be placed in its own room, found in the concrete basement of the magistrate's office. The body would be covered in a white cloth with the proper religious implements on a nearby table. Umiko would be found here to observe, dressed in a vintage white dress that had sailor fuku-like designs.

As per Crab Clan custom, an armed bushi was standing by should anything...or anyone arise.

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha, dressed sedately, attends the vigil to pay her respects. She will quietly bow to the deceased, whispering a prayer that he speed well to the next life, and she will afterwards approach the vigilant Umiko, bowing deeply to her and saying "My condolences on the death of your cousin, Yasuki-karo. What help I can be, I do not know, but if I can be of help, please let me know."

She will bow again.

She couldn't just not be here.

It felt like a continuation of last night's events. Kanna and Nagisa were safe. The perpetrator was dead. Many would just write it a closed case, be glad to not have a bump on the unsolved case stats and move on with life. But something like this was too organized to have gone on without being noticed for too long. It stank. And she felt needed to know what happened. Thus, she observed, rapacious and sharp.

Umiko would bow politely to greet Kisha when she showed up, looking a bit solemn herself but maintaining a polite face. "Thank you for your condolences, Miya-san. I think having some company is good enough at the moment. You are welcome here as an acquaintance of his, as I understand it?"

There was a bit of hesitation on her part before she would bring up the question. "You wouldn't have happened to speak to him after our meeting at the restaurant?"

She would also bow at the approaching Kitsuki with a curious gaze. "Kitsuki-san, were you also an acquaintance or friend of Kaito-kun?"

"I apologize, Yasuki-karo," Kisha says, "but I did not.

"When he invited me to attend the meal, however, he had seemed somewhat upset by a call he was taking. This was while the Fantasy Flight tournament was in progress; I was spectating and seeing if I could interview participants. At the time, he said there was nothing amiss, and I did not pry.

"He was kind to me. I am sorry he is gone."

[Tamori Kanna]

Kanna hadn't been able to save Kaito from their captor, and while she was exhausted from last night's events, she showed up to this mourning. She had only known him briefly, and it had not been a favorable impression he had given... but who could really blame someone in that situation, not to mention that he hadn't deserved that.

A simple green outfit was the closest she had to any sort of clothing for this vigil. Packing mourning clothes hadn't been on her list at all.

So the young woman stood near Ichitaiyo, holding onto her pomeranian that had been very attentive to his hooman since her rescue. Igoro was nowhere to be seen, having been given the day off to recover and rest after being stabbed.

[Kaiu Nagisa]

Being one of the last people to see the man alive, it was proper to be there to send him off. There’s a guild that washes over her when she glances over at Umiko. She may have only really have met the guy in the worst way possible, but no one deserves to be tortured and hunted like sport for some sick freak.

Umiko was hopeful at first, but solemnly nodded at the lack of an answer. Or at least, the answers she was looking for regarding the incident at the restaurant. "Thank you, Miya-san. I'm glad you have kind words for my cousin. I understand that he has some personal quirks, but he was family at the very least."

She perked up when more people showed up! This was a surprise, to say the least. However, she wasn't upset about there being more company and bowed politely when they joined her. Actually, there was something that had to be addressed with them. "Tamori-san, Kaiu-san. Welcome. Thank you for joining the vigil. I...I was told by the magistrate that both of you were with him last. Please allow me to say that I am sorry for the hardships you had to endure. I feel this ordeal has tarnished our island and our abilities as hosts. Please accept my deepest apologies."

After her heartfelt words, she would put her hands on her sides and present a stiff bow.

Kanna bowed deeply to Umiko in return, holding it for a while. "I'm so sorry for the loss of your kinsman, Yasuki-sama, and... I apologize that we couldn't save him. We tried, we really did," her voice was a little choked as she spoke, clearly feeling rather emotional about all that had occurred.

"The actions of one person can't undo the hospitality and kindness you and yours have shown us. That man did not represent the Crab and the noble people of this island."

[Kaiu Nagisa]

Nagisa, too, bowed deeply. She let the Tamori speak first before speaking herself. “I’m so sorry, Yasuki-sama. For your loss and our inability to save him…” There’s that tinge of guilt in her voice that she can’t mask.

“As far as what happened to me, well, I have lived here all my life. I will continue to do so. Nothing that could have happened to me would stop me from loving this place and its people.”

"No need to apologize," Umiko said solemnly on the matter. There was a part of her that knew that if she was unreasonable, she could have put the blame on their feet, but the situation was so much more complicated than that to point fingers at them. "You were...trapped in the same circumstances, I hear. This person meant to kill you all. I'm just thankful that nobody else was hurt by the incident. You are kind to overlook our unfortunate oversight on this matter."

"And you, Kaiu-san, you've shown great resilience on the matter. Even as a Crab, what happened is no way mundane." She looked at Kanna to recall her last point. "If anything, we are happy to have a local such as yourself represent the island."

With that, she bowed once more to both survivors.

Yakura arrived dressed in a surprisingly tasteful white kimono. She bowed and paid her respects as appropriate, but didn't do further than.

She sent a wave towards Umiko, but otherwise didn't intrude. She wasn't sure it was her place, after all.

NOticing another silent samurai, she approached the Wild Commenter.

"I'm enjoying it," Kisha replies. "There have been a lot of people who have been good to me here, a lot of new friendships struck up, a lot of good food and adventures."

She looks to the body.

"It's sad that some of that has ended the way it has, though."

Yakura nodded solemnly. "I didn't expect...well, this. This place has been kind and fun so far." She glanced over to the karo, sadness tinged her eyes. "Glad you enjoyed the rest. The governor and her retinue are doing their best to make this a fun place."

"You're right that Nagisa-san is a hero. We wouldn't have made it, if not for her," Kanna looked over to Nagisa, shooting her a brief but sincere smile. This island is fortunate to have someone like her living here, and the Crab fortunate to call her kin."

Her tone focused more to Umiko now, maintaining her usual warmth and friendliness. "This hasn't dampened my impression of this place nor its people one bit. There's nothing to worry about there, Yasuki-sama."
