[Kaiu Ryosei]

They hopped in the car Ryosei was laughing delightedly as the door closed they had gone to the mountain to hike as they had planned and even started hoping the rain might break but Osano-wo had other plans and deluge was a little too rough for climbing.

Now they both sat soaked and cold in his car

"Well that was a bust." He said still chuckling "want to head back to mine? I can cook us up some breakfast." He offered with a smile to the Mantis.

"Well that was a bust." He said still chuckling "want to head back to mine? I can cook us up some breakfast." He offered with a smile to the Mantis.

Ochiba was actively waterlogged and appeared to somehow be dripping water out of her ears. Despite it all, the Mantis was more amused than anything, sniggering quietly as they both sat inside looking out at the deluge.

"You know, we tried. But sometimes the weather sends you a sign and this is definitely a sign."
She waves a hand, sending droplets everywhere.
"Breakfast sounds perfect right now...something hot? We are dangerously close to your mythical 'curl up with a book' weather."

He chuckles a little at the sight "That we are, though it's not so mythical when you live on a coast. It's usually about equal parts sun and fun and sudden monsoon." He said as the cat engine roared to life and the atmospheric controls compensated for their wet clothes, fire and air kami working together to fill the space with warmth.

He pulled out and headed toward the residential district.

"So how have the last couple days been? Anything new and exciting?"

He chuckles a little at the sight "That we are, though it's not so mythical when you live on a coast. It's usually about equal parts sun and fun and sudden monsoon." He said as the cat engine roared to life and the atmospheric controls compensated for their wet clothes, fire and air kami working together to fill the space with warmth.

He pulled out and headed toward the residential district.

"So how have the last couple days been? Anything new and exciting?"

"The sun and fun I'm all about, the sudden monsoon...has its place I suppose."
Ochiba holds her hands over the vents, steaming slightly.

"Last couple days? Hmmm, let's see. Did some duty stuff, did some sailing, made an offering in the storm, caught up with Yakura-chan."
Brightening. "Oh yeah, I fought and wrecked this giant volcano lizard, it was pretty epic. Check it."
Ochiba flicks through her device until she finds the selfie and the decidedly non 'smiey emojoy over upper body' censored version she'd sent Sorato and holds it up for Ryosei.

"It attacked the onsen and myself, Kanna-san and the two Unicorn fought it off. Was really cool." What about you?"
Gently teasing.
"Reading and cozy? Or more work on prosthetics? Or the secret project?" She mimics shooting lasers from her hands.

Ryosei listened intently as they pulled out and started moving along the city's streets. He nodded and made some noises of surprise when she talked about the battle his eyebrows rose "Oh wow that seems like quite th-" his sentence stops short when he glanced at the picture, and then double takes a blush rising on his cheeks. A car horn blares, he snaps back to reality and swiftly corrects into the back lane. He breaths deeply a couple times "that seems like quite the battle, I know those lizards can be dangerous." He says his voice a little quieter as he tries to pretend he hadn't almost gotten them into an accident over a picture.

He clears his throat returning to a bit of normalcy "I enjoyed day two of fan con. Played in a fantasy Fight tournament. You're actually in the presence of the Nakahama City Champion." He said with false bravado and then a little chuckle "other than that just a few duty things here and there. One trip to the fancy Onsen which was nice."

"Can't believe that jerk honked you, he's lucky you're the one driving."
Ochiba flips off the baffled truck driver as they pull away.

"It was fun, but there was four of us and only one of him. Still, meant I got to test my tattoos and my heart didn't explode, felt good actually. Maybe I was just pent up after a couple weeks of not using them."
Ugggh, being on a diplomatic mission was the worst.

"The card game?" Blink, then a grin. "Uhh, hell yeah! Wooh! You're the nerd champion, that's awesome."
She nudges him playfully with her elbow.
"Bet there was some stiff competition for that. Very cool."

She nods at the onsen mention.
"Oooh yeah, I heard that one is nice, I should hit it up some day. Need some pampering at some point. Buuut I bet their kitchens don't have the Nakahama City Champion working there! Hehe, I'm winning out here."

Ochiba sits back in her seat.
"Now I'm wondering what your place is like, your office was super organised, I bet it's really tidy, no clothes on the floor, clean kitchen. Am I right?"

He held himself back from offering a sheepish apology wave to the man but he'd be willing to bet the trucker would understand if he had full context.

At her gentle ribbings he chuckles and shrugs "There was but I've been playing a while." He thought for a moment at something she said and then lamented a little "oh kami I am the need champion I also was awarded a true fan badge day one, and now this. I hadn't even really thought about it." He gave a little laugh as they entered the residential district.

"We should go some time, to the onsen. I usually can't make it in to the resort proper but I e bought a day pass a few times and those pools do great work."

"You may or may not be right. I am still a person, you might find a shirt that missed the hamper or something, a glass left out. I'm organized but I'm not neurotic. My shop is like that cause it's my business. People trust me with something pretty important so I want them to feel confident as soon as they step in the door. And as for your implants they did seem to be working as intended as far as I can tell. Might need some maintenance in the next couple years but I assume you've got someone that does that."

They pulled up to a house that was likely more plain than she might've been expecting. It was large, a stand alone house with two floors. But it was nothing extravagant. His workshop was tidy but clearly high end and expensive, his car was top of the line luxury, his home however seemed to be fairly....normal.

He pulled into the two car garage and Ochiba would see that he had converted the garage into three spaces. One side for his car, then the other half was split half gym and half workshop. The gym was clean and organized every weight in its place the multifunction rack squared away. The workshop portion had his cosplay standing in it the tall blue and green metallic looking shell stood silent vigil over the area. There were also a few tools scattered about a desk and a few holo emitters half finished laying with wires out.

"Welp here we are." He got out and would move to open her door for her if she didn't get to it first "this way" his head would motion to the door leading to the home proper as the garage door shut behind them.

"Ah ha! Cozy, no YasMansion here." Ochiba opens door, sees Ryosei coming around and quickly shuts it so he can open it again.
"Very kind", she winks, practically jumping out of her seat and peering around the room in all directions.

"Nah, no permanent home for me. We rent stuff when there's shore leave but.." Shrugging. "What would be the point of some tiny apartment somewhere you never see and probably can never reach? Haven't had a place to call home, like actually home, that wasn't on a ship in years."
Gesturing around them.
"I mean, I see the appeal. Plenty of space to mount lizard skulls and so on. But complicated. I like it though."
She makes a big show of bowing to the power armour cosplay with a cheeky smirk before following after Ryosei.

"Soooo, why'd you pick this place? Something special or just what came up?"

He simply chuckles at her antics, shaking his head as he closes the car door. He watches her and moves toward the door to the rest of the house.

The door opened up into a short hallway, a laundry room it looked like and another door that seemed to lead out into a living room.

"I liked the space honestly. I could have afforded a condo in the city." A shrug "but this felt...nicer? Like it lacks some of the sleek decadence of the downtown condos but it feels more like home I guess. It is, admittedly, a lot of house for one person. I make use of the room though."

He continued to walk forward after kicking his shoes off. In the living room it was tastefully decorated, a few pieces of art on the walls, a low table of dark wood with comfortable, thick pillows surrounding it. There was also a couch and end tables one containing an incense holder and the other a book.

Ochiba could also see the kitchen which was only separated by a half bar style divider. Rain pattered against the windows facing out to the neighborhood. There was another hallway along the wall right before the kitchen.

"Want me to throw your clothes in the dryer? I could find something you could borrow in the mean time?"

Ochiba tries to wait patiently, she really does. Sitting down on a couch and kicking her feet for a few seconds as Ryosei heads up...but it's simply too hard to resist at least some movement.

She ascends the stairs and finds another hallway with three doors along its length and a door at the end. Two of the doors on the left are closed and the one on the right side is cracked open. Ryosei shouts back possibly not hearing her come up the stairs.

"Fortunes, why would you tempt me so?"

Ochiba is immediately forced into one of the hardest ethical battles of her life as she confronts the fact a very hot dude she may or may not be dating may or may not be in a state of undress nearby.

The Mantis calls on her ancestors and the fortunes for guidance, searches deep within herself and starts having long, if mostly incoherent internal debates.

Right and wrong.

Good and evil.

Temptation and restraint.

All of these and more war within the Mantis as she stares in the direction Ryosei's voice came from.
"Fuuuuuuuck"

Desperately trying to preempt herself Ochiba hurls herself through the door that was cracked open, brilliantly finding a very normal and healthy way of resisting temptation.

The door she burst into was different from most other places she had seen in his spaces. It was a whirlwind of holoslates and genuine paper and pen drawings and sketches.

Stacks of papers, clear boards with holoslates hanging with equations and schematics. A desk was buried under this mess, books stacked on the ground, colored tabs sticking out haphazardly marking different passages. some books flopped open on the desk sections underlined and highlighted. It seemed this was his more personal workplace.

The desk had a back raised up and on there were a couple of pictures pinned to the back. A family photo, a younger, more slender and somewhat nerdy looking Ryosei stood flanked by siblings and a tall, broad woman and lithe older man standing behind them all.

Another with a beautiful dark haired girl a few years younger, clearly one of the siblings from the family photo probably in her early teens. Ryosei now closer to the man he is today but still a few years younger, wearing a military uniform and standing with other uniformed men and women. One final one was a drawing that seemed to be made by a child, it was the character that Ryosei cosplayed, The Iron Jade, but with a child's rendition of Ryosei's head coming out the top flying through the sky.

"So wanna grab some dry clothes?" He hitched a thumb toward the fully open door.

"Huh?" Came a much closer voice as Ochiba weaved in and out of books and as she slid free of the office she was met with a possibly surprisingly solid samurai body as Ryosei had come to investigate.

"Huh?" Replied the equally suave Ochiba, staring face first into some pecs. "Mmmmh" She then ventured, apparently agreeing with the view before returning to the old and trusted "huh?" again when she realises Ryosei had said something while she was distracted.

"Oh, nah that wasn't messy. I mean, it was, but there's work mess and there's lazy mess and I think that was mainly work mess. Like...your mind was all over the room? It was very cool, my room has absolutely no power armour schematics in it."
Pause.
"And I wasn't snooping, promise! I mean, initially I wasn't snooping, I was respecting your privacy by...going into the room."
Now frowning slightly.
"...Okay I know how that sounds but I swear it's the truth....I'm going to go take my clothes off now. I mean, in there, and then I will put other clothes on."

Ochiba then pauses for another 5 seconds as her mind gets derailed by abs.
"...right now. I will see you soon. Are they like, a family member's? Was that your sister I saw?"
Then with that change of subject she promptly hurries for the door.
