[Expecting] Second Voyage, Same As The First (Day 5, MA)

[Yoritomo Ochiba]

The yacht rocks in the busy swell as already damp looking hemin scurry about on the dock and aboard about performing final checks and ensuring all the windows are closed. Up on deck behind the wheel Ochiba stands barefoot in a set of boating shorts and a singlet, all covered by a rain jacket whipping back and forth in the storm. It looks like she is having the time of her life.

Perhaps the previous tip hadn't been meant to be, maybe it had been too easy. Well Osano-Wo had sent his blessing for this one and no self-respecting Mantis was going to to be found wanting. And she hoped her new pick in first mate would be a little more expeditionary.

"Yoritomo-sama, I thank you for your invitation to your vessel."

Behind her, the rhythm of rainboots going up the stairs to the cabin joined her, clad in a long coat with a hood and boots made for the storm, it felt like a revenant of sorts had walked in, utterly colorless, and lacking some kind of expression. She stood before the Mantis and bowed formally.

"Yoritomo-sama, I thank you for your invitation to your vessel."

Bowing back.
"Kitsuki-san, welcome aboard!"

The Mantis grins widely.
"Love the getup, proper scary. I'm gonna have to resist the temptation for us to loot and pillage any vessels we pass with such a fearsome first mate! Now-"
She gestures at the ship.
"-before you dish the deets on how you're doing. Have you ever been on a boat before, and can you swim?"

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

Bowing back.
"Kitsuki-san, welcome aboard!"

The Mantis grins widely.
"Love the getup, proper scary. I'm gonna have to resist the temptation for us to loot and pillage any vessels we pass with such a fearsome first mate! Now-"
She gestures at the ship.

"I have never ever been on a boat.." And she glanced over board. "And.. well, I have yet to dip a toe on an ocean."

Beat, and she glanced back. "How are you not cold?"

Ochiba winks and flexes an arm.
"But for a slightly longer answer, us Mantis are built tough and space is cold as it gets, this is just a bit of wind."

"I have never ever been on a boat.." And she glanced over board. "And.. well, I have yet to dip a toe on an ocean."

"Right, well the sailing I'll teach as we go along, but safety wise."
She points up at the boom.
"That and maybe a rogue wave are the main dangers today, you keep your head down, and if you hear someone shout 'jibe' you duck sharpish. Do that and keep a hand connect to the boat at all times and you'll be fine."
Ochiba seems completely confident in this.

"Otherwise keep your eyes up and let me know if you spot anything odd, and if we get attacked just shoot the people I shoot. Easy enough?"

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

"Right, well the sailing I'll teach as we go along, but safety wise."
She points up at the boom.

Ichitaiyo nodded curtly, unphased by the possible dangers.. or if excited for it, hiding it beneath a samurai's mask.

"Assuming you have invited me here for a sailing, and you are looking for something, may I know what are we looking for?" she asked formally, as she riffled her coat's pockets for something.

"Hah! Never can get anything past a Kitsuki, can you?"
Ochiba turns and points out into the stormy horizon.

"We set sail for Osano-Wo's eye! I mean to pray there, and maybe have a drink depending on the weather. I tried once before but my then first mate jumped off right as we left to go play a collectable card game."
Giving Ichitaiyo a look.
"So, if you're gonna do that, do it before we cast off."

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

"Hah! Never can get anything past a Kitsuki, can you?"
Ochiba turns and points out into the stormy horizon.

"We set sail for Osano-Wo's eye! I mean to pray there, and maybe have a drink depending on the weather. I tried once before but my then first mate jumped off right as we left to go play a collectable card game."
Giving Ichitaiyo a look.
"So, if you're gonna do that, do it before we cast off."

Ichitaiyo held a momentary pause as the impossible situation dawned upon her.

They weren't looking for anything. In very fact, what they were looking for brewed angrily straight ahead, one of Osano-Wo's expressions, and they were going. Right into that.

"Two questions. Three actually."

Beat.

"One. Why are you doing this? For the glory? As a pilgrimage to Osano-wo?"

"Two. How can I help? And I mean, truly help instead of being a load."

"Three. And in the case you didn't want to bring me as help, did you bring me as a mere witness?"

Ichitaiyo held a momentary pause as the impossible situation dawned upon her.

They weren't looking for anything. In very fact, what they were looking for brewed angrily straight ahead, one of Osano-Wo's expressions, and they were going. Right into that.

"Yes, yes, keeping an eye out, handing over beers when we need them, checking the boat's status, tears in ropes, micro fractures, flooding, though that tends to be obvious, and... maybe."

"You will be fine. These boats are real hard to sink and think of all the confidence you'll have after braving a storm, hmmm? After that everything else will just be nice and easy. And think of the story you'll be able to tell after."

The question was then, would Ochiba dive in and put it all to get her sorry ass off the water if she fell onto it accidentally?

She sighed with a gentle resignation, just a little played to let the Mantis rejoice on the joys of being annoying for a bit.

"I got bright orange or bright yellow it is going to be harder to brood with it in, but aboard The Little Orochi we are safety first!"
She signals one of the crew who hurries to some of the seats and opens the top, revealing them to be waterproof lockers, the options are offered to Ichitaiyo

"Righto, let's get ready to cast-off, make ready for sail!"
Ropes are unwound and Ochiba turns to fire up the little motor at the back which will power the yacht out of harbour.

"Wonder if we're going to find one of those kraken I bought earlier...kinda hope so, never fought one like that before."

"Yes! She's on board!"
Ochiba claps her hands with glee clearing rejoicing very much.
"I got bright orange or bright yellow it is going to be harder to brood with it in, but aboard The Little Orochi we are safety first!"
She signals one of the crew who hurries to some of the seats and opens the top, revealing them to be waterproof lockers, the options are offered to Ichitaiyo

She beckons one of the sailors over and the two shout back and forth over the wind before she turns to Ichitaiyo.
"Yeah, we got some spear guns, a flare gun...don't use that, Kuni-sama will dolphin swim out here to arrest me, and a couple oars."
Eyebrow raise.
"Don't tell me you aren't carrying?"

Outside the shelter of the harbour the sea begins to pick up as Ochiba carefully maneuvers her boat upwind so they can begin hoisting sailings.

Ochiba sniggers.
