D4, LA: Towards the horizon

[Moto Shiwahime]

If one was to do a tour of the island, why not hire a trusty clanmate? That's what Shiwahime thought anyway. She'd rent a bigger boat if that was needed but they could fit in Utaku-san's...probably

She was wearing a fairly standard sports swimsuit and seashoes. Practical, if not much more.

[Agasha Sorato]

Agasha Sorato arrives in board shorts and a lightweight happi jacket of sunproof fabric. Also a hat, because nothing is less cool than sunstroke. "Hello?" He waves from the end of the dock. "Am I in the right place?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime had just brought in some 'essentials' on board when the second of the five arrived

''That depends'' she replied from the deck ''You are Asako-san's phoenix buddy?''

[Asako Hikari]

The wind felt good rushing past him, Hikari thought, as he was riding his rented motorcycle through the streets on his way towards the beach. The roar of the engine reminded him of some simpler times in his youth right after he had been shipped off to Unicorn lands...times where he could just ride for hours and hours and not be bothered by anything but his thoughts. He did at least ride helmeted though, unwilling to risk being horrendously scarred by some unforeseen accident...but he wasn't against a bit of showing off though as he pulled up to where he was supposed to meet the other Unicorn and his fellow Phoenix.

Gunning it a bit as he approached, he skidded into the parking lot, rubber screeching against the paved road angrily as he powerslid into a parking space, slapping down the kickstand with a heel once he came to a stop. He was dressed in a riding outfit, some light leathers and the aforementioned helmet, letting it dangle from a handlebar idly as he stepped off the machine. Shedding the jacket and chaps into a bag he kept on the side of the cycle, he upturned his head in greeting at the others from where they were in the boat. He was wearing a simple but serviceable outfit, halfway between fashion and function, and colored a bright red and orange.

"Good day for a boat ride," he called out to the others as he approached.

[Moto Shiwahime]

The roar of an incoming engine caught the Moto's attention immediately. She observed the stylish entrance with interest...it was decent but nothing extraordinary. Still, she liked the moxie: no guts, no glory!

''Well now Asako-san...are you trying to impress us unicorns with that bit of showmanship? I am afraid I am the only one here yet. Though you could try it again when the other two girls arrive''

[Agasha Sorato]

"I'm Agasha Sorato, so I suppose yes," Sorato answers the Moto's question and begins making his way down the dock. He's only a few paces along when Hikari rolls in, so he stops and turns round to bow to the other Phoenix. That entrance makes an entertaining contrast with his own a few minutes ago--his rented pedal-assist cycle is locked to a rack not far from Hikari's muscular motorbike. "Hi, Asako-san."

[Asako Hikari]

"Just letting my hair down a bit, Moto-san...and I don't know if doing it just to be performative for some Utaku and/or Shinjo would be appreciated. Also, hello Agasha-san, a pleasure to see you as always. I see we've dressed for the occasion...let us hope we don't see any sharks up close and personal."

[Moto Shiwahime]

The Moto quickly spat in the water earing the mention of sharks before she could state her displeasure with the critters

''Friggin' sharks. They'll leave us alone if they know what's good for them. I have a score to settle with those fuckers.''

She cracked he neck to change her thoughts for something worth talking about

''Practicing your entrance might be appreciated Asako-san! They might even give you some pointers!''

[Utaku Itsuka]

The Utaku bowed to both Phoenix as they arrived, but otherwise kept busy readying everything for their trip.

"The Double will be ready to go in a minute, everyone." She then hears someone mention sharks. "There has been some mention of a big one.", she says, matter-of-factly. "Just need to be faster than it though."

[Moto Shiwahime]

''Oh shit!'' The Moto jumped slightly when the Utaku reared her head. Somehow she had totally missed her being there...which she would blame on the Asako's flashy entrance,

Speaking of

''Well I stand corrected...We are two unicorns here already. Say Utaku-san...did you see Asako-san's entrance?''

[Agasha Sorato]

Sorato considers offering to help with the boat, but runs up against the obstacle of his own relative ignorance. If there's anything that simply needs to be picked up and moved on board, though, he'll pitch in.

"An especially big greatshark?" he asks, curious. "Bigger than the usual? I understand even typical ones can be navigation hazards." He sounds pretty calm about it, but then, he assumes they won't be going far out in deep blue water on this jaunt. Probably? After all, the skipper herself doesn't seem concerned.

[Asako Hikari]

"Well, perhaps I will do it after our boat ride...but I think the highlight of the day is and should be this delightful boat ride offered to us by Utaku-san, yes?"

Hikari smiled and boarded the boat, ready to enjoy the late afternoon sun.

"If we do happen to see it, I'm confident that the problem can be handled...I dare say Moto-san might use that shiny arm of hers to punch it right back into the water, eh?"

[Utaku Itsuka]

"Hard *not* to see, ne?", the Utaku answers, good-natured, but with a rather flat tone, perhaps focused on readying the final details.

"She's ready to go, everyone. So..." she turns to the Moto. "West to Namigashira Bay, then back with a small detour to the islets up north and northwest of it, then? Or... did the guests mention something different they wanted to see?"

She went inside for a while again, after a while out came a man in his mid-twenties, bowed deep to all the others. "Of course, It... Utaku-san, we'll take care of everything", he says before sitting down behind the counter.

After they finally settle in the boat, she nod-bows an apology to both Phoenix. "I hope I can give y'all some more attention now we're underway! And... well, some rumours do mention an especially large one. Although... wouldn't be a first if it's just someone seeing one for the first time and think 'this one must be larger than any others!', if you see what I mean'.

Her voice is rather flat as she says this, much as before. She does add though "I'd rather hope we won't see one today. And if we do, not close enough for Moto-san to punch it." A shrug, and a weak grin. "If it does come to that, though... it's good to have her with us, ne?"

[Agasha Sorato]

"The bay from the sea sounds great," Sorato says, though glancing at the others afterward to see if they had something else in mind. "I was there yesterday. Beautiful spot. Really interesting sea wrack."

[Asako Hikari]

"As the local expert, Utaku-san, I trust you to know the best spots and trust in your judgment on where we should go. After all, you are the captain, yes?"

When the man in his mid-twenties comes out, Hikari would offer a polite nod if they seemed a servant or a bow if they were plainly samurai.

"Perhaps we'll see some fauna that are more friendly to observation. I hear there are a great deal of fish varieties in these waters. Perhaps some cephalopods as well? Fascinating creatures from what I understand...quite cunning."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime smashed her fists together with a growl when the shark talk continued

''My weapons are on board, the first fin fucker to mess with us will become a warning to the others''

As for the rest of the conversation

''I'm easy on the route. I'll trust Utaku-san for the best route''

[Utaku Itsuka]

"Well, we can keep that course if everyone agrees. We can try to press east a bit on the northern coast for a swim near one of the smaller sand beaches or near a rocky shore if you want, since Agasha-san's been to Namigashira already. Easily a decision we can take after we're there, though."

With that, they were off.

(We can keep the whole thread here instead of moving it to Namigashira, I guess. Would have to check with the GMs if we want to move it there!)

[Agasha Sorato]

"Twice isn't too much." Sorato reassures their captain when she suggests avoiding Namigashira Bay on his account. "I hear it's a favorite beach on the island, even if it's less developed. I can see why."

"It's always interesting to see how the old world species have diverged on the terraformed worlds," he adds, picking up the thread of Hikari's comments... though deliberately not mentioning the greatsharks, since those seem to be a sore point with the Moto for some reason. "Have you seen the glass shrimp yet? They're are surprisingly pretty."

[Moto Shiwahime]

''I have not yet'' Before continuing on the conversation, Shiwahime opened her back of beer and hold one aloft as an offering while she took one for herself ''Someone else thirsty?''

She moved to take a seat near the bow so she could feel the wind.

''I look forward seeing them though.'' she opened her can and took a swing ''How's your stay been so far?'' she asked no one in particuliar

[Asako Hikari]

"I am fine for the moment, Moto-san, but thank you."

He settled into a seat and took up a relaxed posture, enjoying the feeling of the sun on his face.

"My stay has been quite alright so far. Been engaging with several Crab and it has been a fairly good time. A few are sharper than the others and a promising contact, but we'll have to see how it goes. Yourself?"
