The towering Mount Nakahama is Shiawase Island's highest point, a semi-dormant volcano that still sees the occasional activity even today. Its activity is monitored and kept under control by resident shugenja, but at times, the occasional smoke from its peak is released to make for an impressive (and admittedly, fearsome) view. The jungle vegetation begins to thin out further up the mountain, and its peak is visible as striking earth-brown rock from afar.

While locals of Shiawase Island might have taken the sight of Mount Nakahama for granted, the mountain remains an impressive sight that draws in many visitors to the city and attracts visitors to this day. The mountain easily catches the eye upon arrival as it sits close to the southern coast of Shiawase Island and can be visible from many parts of Nakahama City. While many visitors will be encouraged to hike the mountain or visit the viewing point, they will be warned about wandering from the established path.

Nakahama Viewing Point
The Nakahama viewing point is the top-most point of the mountain allowed to the public. The peak of the mountain is heavily restricted due to its occasional, dangerous volcanic activity, as well as the presence of dangerous wildlife. The sheltered viewing platform offers a view of Nakahama City below and is accessible by ropeway. There are many hiking paths leading up to the platform, with the most scenic routes taking as long as a whole day. The interior is fully climate-controlled, featuring a small refreshment stand and a gift shop selling exclusive Nakahama-kun (animorphic version of the mountain) plushies.

Hotel Nakahama
Hotel Nakahama was a bold venture that began almost a century ago. The concept was a luxury hotel atop Mount Nakahama and overlooking the beautiful Namigashira Bay below. The project had been mired in all sorts of issues, including logistical and funding troubles. The ownership of the hotel had been traded a few times between companies, even going to the Mantis Clan at some point. Ultimately, construction had shut down just before its near completion a few decades ago and had not picked up since. The empty concrete structure with a few areas of furnishing still stands today, but as a largely abandoned shell.
