(Expecting) How are Ryu doin? [Day 4, MM]

[Yoritomo Ochiba]

Peace, restfulness, tranquility. All these and many other synonyms are drowned out by the roar of an engine as a mud spattered sports car forces its way up the path to the onsen and skids to a stop in the carpark.

Enter Ochiba, exterior, onsen, carrying duffle bag.

"Ugggh, why does everything that's good for you smell so bad?" Wrinkling her nose she makes her way over to the entrance, looking around with interest. Had the Dragon beaten her there? Or was she first? Ochiba starts scanning about a full foot below her usual sightline to check.

A few minutes later, the tell-tale noises of a scooter approached the onsen. Riding the sleek but cute vehicle was Kanna!

"Sorry if I'm late!" was the first thing she said as she parked next to Ochiba's sports car, taking off her helmet. "I took a wrong turn earlier and got lost for a bit... oh wow. This is an interesting place! How did you find it?"

A few minutes later, the tell-tale noises of a scooter approached the onsen. Riding the sleek but cute vehicle was Kanna!

"Sorry if I'm late!" was the first thing she said as she parked next to Ochiba's sports car, taking off her helmet. "I took a wrong turn earlier and got lost for a bit... oh wow. This is an interesting place! How did you find it?"

“It’s great to see you Tamori-san but please.” Wincing”I am still recovering from a fun and fulsome night. Part of why I’m keen to try these healing waters.”

She nods politely, the Dragon was a powerful priest after all.

“I searched for the most expensive onsen, but there were a whole bunch of generic ones. So then I decided I’d go to the coolest one that was different. And this one came right up!”
She winces again, this time at her own voice

“Fortunes I hope these waters are worth being up this early, and the smell. How are you holding up? Didn’t have too much fun I hope?”

Kaida it seemed had been riding in a basket on the front of the scooter, and Kanna undid the safety clasps that prevented him from jumping out while driving.

"Oh, sorry..." she managed to subdue her voice a little. "I had a great time last night. Lots of fun, lots of drink." From what Ochiba could maybe remember, Kanna had been partying hard and getting very caught up in things. Certainly not one who paced herself.

"An onsen sounds like a great start to the day after last night. But why did the authorities show up, I wonder? It seemed very weird!"

Kaida gave a few shakes as he was placed down on the ground, and then went to greet the familiar Ochiba happily. Thankfully, he was not a barker!

“Kaida-kun, heeeeeey!” Ochiba crouches down, her head spins violently and she ends up half crouched half sitting on her bag as the friendly hound approached.

“Aren’t you just the right sort of pick-me up I need? Did you travel well? Hmmm? Are you a spa dog? Hmmm?”

Grimacing slightly at the memory.
“Some folk don’t like the way I and mine do business. Kuni-sama was just throwing his weight around. Sometimes you just gotta let ‘em do it…. To a point anyway. Anyway, I hadn’t realised you were such a partier. So that’s double you’d be a good fit on a Mantis vessel.”

Eying the entrance.
“Now I just need to stand up and… make my way to the door.”

Kaida happily basked in the attention, even semi-hopping in circles to show his excitement. He gave a small yip in response to the questions.

"He was very needed today since he didn't get to go to the party," Kanna giggled and moved over to help Ochiba up by offering her hands.

"Any Tamori worth their salt can withstand some mild alcohol poisoning," she said jokingly. "We're hardy folks. I know I might not look it, but I am very resilient." And strong too.

Swinging her bag onto her back
“Okay, let’s go detox. Is Kaida-san allowed to soak too?”

She starts making a mostly straight path to the entrance.

"Nah, I wouldn't want to get dog-hair in a commonly shared pool, and it takes so much effort to get him dry afterwards," she explains, and then taps her own bag. "He'll be taking a nap in his cozy bed nearby while we soak. And if any pervert tries to sneak up on us, he'll get them."

Kanna pats his head. "Because he's a good little guard. Yes you are, sweetie. You're so brave too."

"Nah, I wouldn't want to get dog-hair in a commonly shared pool, and it takes so much effort to get him dry afterwards," she explains, and then taps her own bag. "He'll be taking a nap in his cozy bed nearby while we soak. And if any pervert tries to sneak up on us, he'll get them."

Kanna pats his head. "Because he's a good little guard. Yes you are, sweetie. You're so brave too."

“I pity the pervert… well not really. But hey if Kaida can get to them before I can get to my guns maybe everybody wins?”

Once inside the Mantis blearily looks around and starts following the cut stone walkway to the change rooms and the first cleansing pool.

“Good to have someone watching our back though. Speaking of, if I start glowing just don’t come to near me in the pool. Probably won’t happen, but you know, just in case.”

At least it was easy to find the changing rooms. "Oh man, now that I'm closer to the pool, it almost reminds me of home," she remarks as they get changed. Kanna wrapped a towel around her for modesty as they went to the cleansing area.

"Uh... why would you start glowing? Are you secretly a spirit?"

Kanna didn't pity any perverts! They would receive heavenly judgement. Or something.

There’s an eclectic collection of tattoos and scars going on as she pads towards the pool.

“Spirit? No I’n like… uhh. What’s your opinion on flesh crafting?”

"Usagi no Yomogi spa yes! Medical spa, dermatology, and skincare," Kanna said with a proud nod, forgetting her excitement level for a moment.

"As for flesh crafting... hmmm," she tilted her head slightly to the side as she considered it, because she never really had up until this point. The silence lasted for a few moments as she sat down to begin washing herself. "I think it's neat, I guess? It's amazing what we can do for people with science, who in the olden days would've been left disabled. So I don't think it's wrong..."

"Huh, I think I've heard of you guys...do you do those nice facial masks? You know, with the bunnies?"
As Ochiba starts scrubbing a layer of dust, sweat, stains and...blood? Starts coming off.
"Huh...how did I get someone's eyelash under my thumbnail?" Shrug, continues scrubbing.

Ochiba was shooting Kanna vigorous side-eye as the Dragon decided where she stood.
"What about like...hypothetically, modifying your body to be better at fighting people? Like, that in a cool way."

"We have sheet masks, yes, with all sorts of cute motifs you can choose," she grins. All the sheet masks were of course compostable after use, a branding message on all their products. "Why? Do you want one? I have some in my bag."

Talking about something simple as grooming and pampering helped her not think too hard on Ochiba's more serious question.

"Uhmm.. I guess it's fine? I mean, I don't think I would want to do it myself, but it's a way someone can serve their clan better. And it's not like it's hurting others. Or... well, you know what I mean," Kanna laughs softly.

More vigorous scrubbing and then the hair comes down and a knife falls out with a little 'ting'
"...Ignore that, it's my support knife."

Ochiba looks a little relieved that Kanna appeared to have a somewhat live and let live approach to cyber combat surgery.
"Oh cool...because umm, full disclosure."
She holds up her hands and wiggles the fingers.
"I'm wired, like, literally, Bio-electric. And it is like, explicitly for hurting others. But no, I get you. I know it's kinda strange for some more traditional samurai soooooo appreciate you're cool about it."

"Gotcha! We'll get you some tea-tree oil purifying mask," Kanna was more than happy to get to share some of the product-samples she had with her. Which she had kinda forgotten were samples and had just added to her own beauty-bag!

Her eyes widens over the knife. Not because it was a weapon - but where in Rokugan had Ochiba been keeping that knife when she was naked?! Kanna looks away from the knife as she splashes her own face with water. Hard to look at others' emotional support weapons when she has water in her eyes!

"Ooooh, I understand! That's why you're worried about sparks and glows. Well, I don't mind! I mean... Tamori aren't the most traditional of families." She didn't really worry her head about the more philosophical discussions in her clan about it, specifically the Togashi. "Did it hurt? Is it like an electric tattoo?" Now she couldn't help but to look more at Ochiba.

"Ummm, hurt? Not so much at the time. I was fully under. But then it was really weird, it's wired to my nerves so it was like...suddenly having a new muscle to flex? Check it."

With a grin and a bicep flex Ochiba holds up her right arm and concentrates, the tattoo starts glowing a light bioluminescent green-blue.

"It's not like...you know, magic. But sick, right? There's this trick I can do with my guns and-"
She pats herself down, only then remembering she was in a rare de-gunned moment.
"-Well, it's like shooting lightning. I'll totally show you sometime. Saved my ass a few times."

Ochiba is a small part relieved and a larger part elated that Kanna got how cool it was.

"It's cool you're so chill about stuff, no wonder you're such a good partner for Kaida."
Ochiba finishes her cleanse by upending a bucket of cold water over herself.

"Right! Hangover dissipating, gun show, paused...want to go find somewhere relaxing? I got some hot gossip about that fortune reading you did for me.

"I am a very cool person," Kanna said with a cocky and rather smug smile.

Following suit, Kanna too dumps water on herself and finishes up cleansing. "Right! But first, face-masks!"

The Tamori reaches into her bag and shuffles some things around until she finds some of those promised sheet masks. An otter for Ochiba, and a mermaid one for herself! Easy to open, Kanna pads over to Ochiba and expertly applies the otter-mask to the other woman's face.

"Ta-da!" She declares with great gusto, giving Ochiba a moment to look in the mirror to see how it looked as Kanna applied the mermaid-mask to her own face. "Now we can soak and gossip."
