(D3, LM, Magistrate's Office) I've Been Meddling

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

Kiyoshi entered the magistrate's office sometime after the rain had cleared. He'd heard the reports of flooding and was unsure how difficult it would be to reach the office.

"I would like to speak with someone about Hotel Nakahama." He said when asked why he was there.

Thankfully, the magistrate's office hadn't moved from Friendship Street since the island's founding. Despite not being in the sleek and glamorous Harbourfront, it would find itself just short of missing the flash flooding that was happening in some parts of the city. Kiyoshi would be able to get there without many incidents and let in.

The office was rather busy with many of the magistrates trying to distill reports of flooding and other incidents. Most of the work would go to the Public Works office, naturally, who would dispatch the necessary labourers to get the businesses working again. It didn't help that many people, even residents, couldn't tell the difference between the two offices.

Kiyoshi would be attended to by a Kuni yoriki on staff.

"Yes, about Hotel Nakahama? You do know that area is restricted, right?" She said with a bit of displeasure clear in her tone, Just like a tourist to have issues about it. "Did you lose a friend there?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I am aware. And, I confess to visiting it yesterday. I've been wanting to see more of the wildlife of the island without venturing too far into the jungle. I thought an incomplete abandoned building of that size would be an ideal haven for smaller mammals, lizards and birds."

This had been part of why he had wanted to see it. He felt mentioning his career as a fictional character that often explored spooky locations wasn't warranted. Of course, he kept the others out, not wanting to cause them trouble.

"I didn't find many animals, but there were signs of other recent visitors."

Ayaka let out a sigh and quickly motioned for a typing heimen to come over so that a testimony could be recorded.

She placed her hands on her hips, as if to show disappointment with a child. "Oh yeah? I think I could get a sizeable boost to my stipend if I wandered into the governor's estate, but I still know better than to do that, Kitsune-san. So sorry that you didn't find the animals you were looking for there. So, okay, what sort of other visitors? Squatters? Were there corpses of visitors who also wandered in and stumbled into accidents? We can send for a retrieval squad."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

'No." he shook his head. "Nothing quite that bad. There was some older litter, in the run down areas, but the main lobby was in good condition, save for the lingering sent of smoke."

He then showed her an image. "This was burned into one of the walls. It may be nothing, but 'THE FOREVER NIGHT IS NIGH' seemed ominous enough to let you know about it."

The image didn't seem to bother the Kuni very much, but only elicited another sigh from her. However, she did nod reluctantly and took a picture with her camera to catalogue into the report that was being made right now. "Very edgy, at the very least. The island is home to many street artisans. We have crews around the city keeping Nakahama City as pristine as possible. It wouldn't surprise me if they realized that the hotel was a piece of real estate for tagging. Wouldn't get a lot of attention for being so secluded, though. We can check locally if it's not some marketing campaign from one of the local companies. It would really suck if this were just about stout beer."

"The odd thing was that, this was the only graffiti I saw there." He shrugged. "I appreciate your taking the time for this."

"Yeah, because they typically have a good sense of not going in places they shouldn't be. The place is meant to be preserved in case anyone is...ambitious enough to buy the place again," she said with a bit of distaste on the matter, giving a momentary glance at the screen to make sure everything was transcribed exactly. "They've been looking for a buyer for decades now. They really should put up more barriers and board up the place again if people are getting ideas about going there again."

"Other than the lobby, there's a lot of environmental damage. The longer time goes by, the harder it will be to find an investor. Would you know who currently owns it? I am curious about its availability."

[Boogiepop]

"Yes, I'm aware of that but that's not my problem," Ayaka gave a shrug of her shoulder, she was only a yoriki and didn't have koku laid out for this particular business investment. "Last I heard, Pelican Properties managed to scoop it up from the Mantis at a cheaper price. Pelican Properties, you know, the ones who own the fancy ryokan up the hill? Why don't you talk to them about buying it before you go in there to cause trouble?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I'm familiar. That's where I'm staying." he nodded. "That's good advice. Thank you. I appreciate your assistance this morning."

Ayaka glanced off to the side at the person typing out the ceremony, giving a few small nods. Did you get all that?

"And thanks for your testimony and admission. We'll be sending you a bill for the violation, and expect Pelican Property to potentially press additional charges." Ayaka said simply.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Understood. I will be at Natsuzora Ryokan and Spa for the duration of my time on the island." He nodded. "By chance, would you happen to know of a special body of water with a lot of fish? I told a flock of jimen tori I would try to help them."

Of course, the Kitsune is an animal lover...

"Oh, I don't know, Kitsune-san..." She shrugged at the question, feeling rather hassled to come up with an answer. "There's sure a lot of life on that lake atop Mount Jinsei. Lake Ibuki is pretty nice."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Thank you, again." He bowed. "My apologies for taking up your time."

Then he left.
