While the lower city is known for being the glamorous face of Nakahama City, trying to emulate the cities of the mainland, a majority of the city is quite orderly and more mundane in comparison. The upper city is quite hilly as real estate treads further toward the direction of Mount Nakahama, with its residential blocks situated atop alternating elevations. The homes here are a mixture of apartments, traditional buildings and modern housing units. Samurai live close to heimen merchants and artisans without a clear divide. Considering how Yasuki traditionally work in commerce and all money-making ventures, this fluid approach to housing might have been more functional than coincidental.
Most of the neighbourhoods are connected by a length of park as communal green space. The parks themselves aren't impressive, old stone paths that are populated with local shrubs and trees. Various playgrounds break up the trail where both heimen and samurai children play, although some of the equipment has seen better days. There are a few clearings with park benches that provide some semi-privacy.
