Sitting at the front of the Nakahama Harbourfront is Hanei Tower, the tallest structure in the city at a height of over 240 metres. Hanei Tower had been a vanity project of a past governor and was meant to stand as a beacon of prosperity for Shiawase Island. While the bold intention was to be visible from the other islands, the tower is one of the key landmarks of the Nakahama skylight, standing at the forefront of the Harbourfront. The glass exterior of the structure continues to impress visitors even today and offers the best view of the famed skylight on land.
The tower hosts a multi-level observation deck coupled with an overpriced upscale restaurant at the top level, under the name Granite. Despite the fact that the restaurant seems to have trouble filling most of its tables due to its prohibitive pricing and limited menu offerings, all customers are required to have a reservation to get a table. It is quite evident that the tower's restaurant is fully intended to cater to only visitors. However, the open bar thankfully has free seating and requires no reservation.
