D0MM, Moving Right Along (Open)

[Miya Kisha]

You'd think, because so much happens at night, that someone so connected to popular culture and its currents would not be a morning person. But Miya Kisha knows that getting the work done early means getting to the fun more easily later on, so it's mid-morning when she arrives, processes through customs--always that, even back in the old days--and waits for the station-to-surface shuttle to bear her and her baggage planetside.

She's able to find a decent view of the world, and she sits watching it as she sips at a hot drink, eminently approachable.

[Moto Shiwahime]

''Damn scunner mince. This space station is to loaded with an abundance of doaties'' muttered the large unicorn woman to herself as she passed through the flow of traffic.

She liked the Crab...in theory...but even then she was not comfortable in such a crowded place and that was easily visible in her scowl. That might be why most who crossed her path gave her wide berth, the other that she was already a well-over six foot tall tank of a woman with a purple mohawk wearing heavy leather boots and jacket bearing the unicorn mon.

Most people gave her berth naturally, they just had one more incentive to do so now.

She finally managed to break away from most of the crowd near a windowed area where the planet could be observed.

''Shite, that's a lot of water and not a lot of land.''

Kisha nods, then turns to look up at the woman.

And up.

And up.

"You're not wrong," she says, easily enough. "But it's still a good view."

She'll bow a bit, not that it's easily noticed on her petite frame. "Miya Kisha," she offers, and she smiles.

[Moto Shiwahime]

Having been in her head for a moment, Shiwahime was taken by surprise when an answer came back to her observation. She turned around meet her interlocutor.

''Heya there!'' she replied with a returned smile and a bow ''Pleasure to meet ya Miya-sama. I'm Moto Shiwahime''

She glance at the planet once more

''I am weary of water sports but I guess I'll have to learn to enjoy them regardless.''

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha takes in the formidable appearance of the woman and says "I think you'd do well at most any sport you played, Moto-san." And she says it with a sincere smile, marking it as the compliment it is.

"Do you know what they play down there?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

''Oh...thanks. I'm not bad at them but...'' she raises a cybernetic hand, the only visible part of her prosthesis with her coat on ''...I am not super good at cybernetics. It's supposed to be allright in water but I'm always weary of tempting ill-luck''

She gave a blank stare back at the question

''I hope sumai at least.''

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha nods.

"I can understand that," she says. "I haven't met a lot of people who welcome bad fortune for themselves. Others, all the time, of course, but that always seems mean-spirited to me.

"But you said 'sumai,'" the Miya continues. "Do you wrestle much, Moto-san?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime gives the Miya a light nod

''I've picked up unarmed wrestling fairly recently. Seemed useful for my job....I usually have chains but but I might not always have them on hand.''

She paused

''I'm a doshin most of the time. Track and capture is what I do."

[Miya Kisha]

"I was going to ask when you mentioned the chains," Kisha replies. "Imperial, or Clan? The doshin work, I mean. Whichever it is, I bet they're glad to have you working for them."

[Moto Shiwahime]

''Clan'' she replied ''But boss wants to get in with the imperial magistrates.'' she gives a shrugs ''We'll see how that goes. After New Kalani he thinks he has a solid portfolio.''

She passed a hand through her hair

''And you Miya-sama? Here for business or pleasure?''

[Miya Kisha]

"Oh, there's always the work," Kisha says, "but meeting interesting new people is always a pleasure."

She smiles very up at the Unicorn woman.

"But you know I have to ask you about New Kalani, now."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime quirks an eyebrow and whistles

''Well that's a story alright. I'll have to take a drink to tell it proper...the bullet points version ain't got nothing on it.''

She immediately began eyeing around to see if there was any liquor to be had

''Want anything?'' she asked

[Miya Kisha]

"I'll buy," Kisha says, and she gestures to what seems a decent enough spaceport bar. She places her order, gestures to Shiwahime to make her own.

"Do you mind if I record this?" she asks. "I won't if you do, but a story like yours...people will want to hear it."

[Moto Shiwahime]

''Oh...thanks. You really did'nt need to do that thought.'' She looked at the menu's offerings ''Kinsenka Imperial Stout it'll be for me''

The large Moto leans in the counter

''Are you a journalist or writer Miya-sama? The events of New Kalani happened about a year ago so it's not exactly fresh...though it's possible the new never reached outside of mantis space. I imagine they wouldn't advertise the goings on of a brutal serial killer, afterall, especially in the middle of a politically charged affair.''

She shruggs

''If you want to record you are more then welcomed to.''

[Miya Kisha]

"Oooh! Scandal and mystery!"

Kisha takes out her device, presses a button.

"So, Moto Shiwahime, doshin of renown, what really happened on New Kalani?"

She leans forward, her attention rapt.

[Moto Shiwahime]

''I believe they called the case 'The Habcom Slasher'. Hell of a thing to get involved in, especially considering I was on vacation, but in the end I am glad I was.''

she frowned, searching the details in her mind.

''Several people had gone missing or found brutally murdered in the narrow alleys of the habcom 39, one of the poorest areas of the upper city, for weeks before I arrived on the scene. From what I could see the habitation complex, or the habcom, was hardly better than a disorderly slum with the crime and violence that seems to always tag along in such places. The law enforcement there was usually sparce in the area...I'll let you figure out why...but the raw violence of the murders could not be ignored.''

She took a sip of her beer

''The Yoritomo yoriki had scourged the complex but it seemed that there were no witnesses willing to talk with any member of the local law enforcement or those few willing to had never seen the mysterious ‘slasher’ or anything actually useful. The fear was palpable though. So, as a last resort, the magistrate in charge sought outside contractors to help and I could not say no when I got the call. I think we were three in total: Doji Kona...'' she paused ''...a lion, Kitsu...Kitsu Tenryu...I think? And myself''

[Miya Kisha]

"Must've been quite the case for them to have to do that," Kisha says. "And so diverse a group...what persuaded you to join up?"

For what it's worth, Shiwahime has Kisha's full and undivided attention. She is drinking in as much detail as she can.

[Moto Shiwahime]

The Moto took a swing of her glass

''Why would I refuse? A fucker that dangerous needed to be brought down and It's what I do: bring fuckers down...anyway...''

She made herself more comfortable by taking a seat

''When finally hit the ground, I understood why the Yoritomo lawmen had a hard time: The place was a damp and dark urban maze that had a perpetual stank of something fishy.'' she grimaced at the memory. ''We split up to edge our bets and work our angles I think Doji-sama went to interrogate the locals, Kitsu-sama...sketched the place like it was a fucking warzone...lions be lions...while I was checking the street layout. I have to give to Kitsu-sama...his thing worked and helped us bring our pieces together.''

She passed a hand through her hair

''That brought us to a derelict warehouse near to the maintenance tunnels that connected habcom 39 to habcom 38. The building was pitch black since the power has been cut years, if not decades, ago. From what we could see initially a small door at the side of the building served as the only entrance since the main cargo bay door had rusted shut. Doji-sama and I went in though that entrance with our cone lanterns while Kitsu-sama double checked the rear of the building to make sure we didn't miss a way our perp could get out.''

''The warehouse had been closed but not emptied. Our lights played over stacks of solid crates with vintage logos stacked high, creating something like corridors in the place. Then we saw the stains of dried blood all over the concrete when we delved deeper...but that was when the crates fell around us, blocking the exit. The perp was not a who but an it.. and it had spotted us first.''

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha makes a show of shuddering.

"I mean, clearly, you made it out," she says.

"Wait, did all of you make it out?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

A young man walked up to the window. He was carrying a squirming monkey in his arms. "I told you. We'll be here for a while. We can get souvenirs on the ground. Look out there. See? Tropical forests. You'll love it here."

The monkey seemed to throw its arms up in protest, but it was soon staring at the world below.
