The actual architecture of the Flying Battle Carp storefront is about as standard as standard can be for a retail space: display space for goods in the front, checkout area towards the back, and a separate section for employee access. The nigh mythical back of the store where angry customers think a secret stash of everything they’ve ever wanted is, untouched by lazy employees, but in reality has space to receive shipments, and a little space for employees on break to vent unseen about such customers. You could sell anything that doesn’t need a kitchen here from bikes to trains to video games.

However, the proliferation of colorful signage and banners quite quickly dispels any notion that you can buy anything here but a Flying Battle Carp. ‘Battle over the skies for aerial supremacy!’ “New season starting, sign up at the register!’ Three quadcopter drones with silvery scale patterns (the flying battle carps) have been hung over their respective areas as if squaring off against one another. The banner on one says “Battle Tested Veterans - 4 koku” one says “Rookie Aces - 6 koku” and the really shiny one's banner simply says "Legends - 12 koku"

Additionally there are various signs on the walls explaining the rules for aerial combat, the rules for the ongoing competition, a few posts of legal disclaimers and a screen on the wall displaying the ranks for the competition.

Sign: How to do aerial battle with a Flying Battle Carp

Once you've purchased your Flying Battle Carp, either a Battle hardened veteran (4 koku), a Rookie Ace (6 koku, +1 to agi/pilot rolls) or a Legend (12 koku +2 to agi/pilot rolls), you are ready to duel your fellow Flying Battle Carp owners.

The goal of combat is simple: to be the first to sever your opponents banner (available in the clan colors, and your choices of symbols, at the register, free with purchase of your flying battle carp) while keeping yours aloft. This is accomplished through careful, yet daring maneuvering of your drone (First character to win three opposed agi/piloting rolls Modified by drone +s. ).

Now you're ready to take to the skies and battle for dominance!

Sign: How to compete in this season's (lasting the duration of the game) ranked competition

Sign up at the register and you're ready to fight for your chance to prove you are the best drone pilot!

You may challenge as many pilots as you wish to a duel per day, but may only duel any given pilot once per day.

All pilots start at rank 0.

You need 100 points to advance in rank. All points reset when you rank up. Points may go negative, but will never result in dropping a rank, but will need to be overcome to advance in rank.

Points:

Defeat someone of your rank or higher: +100 points
Defeat someone of lower rank: 100 -10 per rank they are below you (90 for 1 rank below, 80 for 2, and so forth)
Lost to someone of your rank or higher: No change
Lost to someone of lower rank -10 points per rank they are beneath you (-10 for 1 rank below, -20 for 2 ranks, etc)

Please send all duel results to Yasuki Taraka so they may be entered into the rankings.

At the end of the season, the pilot at the top of the rankings will receive a trophy and a pair of stylish aviator sunglasses.

Sign: Drone modifications

A purchased Flying Battle Carp is yours to enhance as you see fit, respecting local ordnances. Please be advised that modified drones cannot be returned to Flying Battle Carp.

How to modify your Flying Battle Carp:

Once per day, you may make a Int/Engineering Roll at TN 15 + 5 per +1 already on the drone. Raises do not matter. On a success, permanently increase the drone's piloting checks by +1.

Local Ordinances concerning Flying Battle Carps:

The following actions are prohibited by local ordinances. All such actions if taken are the sole responsibility of the drone owner, and Flying Battle Carp may not be held liable.

1. It is forbidden to install cameras or any other surveillance or recording equipment on Flying Battle Carp. Any such acts are subject to prosecution as espionage.

2. It is forbidden to operate Flying Battle Carps in spaces in or above privately held residences or businesses without prior consent of the residence or business owner. Failure to comply is subject to prosecution for trespassing.

3. It is forbidden to operate Flying Battle Carps in or above publicly owned lands that are designated no fly zones by the government without express authorization of the government (Azuma Beach and most things outside the City are pre-approved for flights). Failure to comply is subject to prosecution for reckless operation of a vehicle.

4. It is forbidden to operate Flying Battle Carps to deliberately injure other people or to destroy other's property (Flying Battle Carp banners and other flying battle carp are not subject to this). Failure to comply is subject to relevant prosecution for battery, destruction of property, or should death result, murder.
