"Ahaha," she chuckled a bit nervously, "excuse me, minna-sama. Gotta make sure everyone's having a good time. Enjoy your evening," Kanna bowed to Ayame and Honoka, shuffling off respectfully from the two ladies engaged in a very familiar talk that she felt wasn't her place to participate in. But it was good because they seemed happy!

Winding her way over to Junpei, Kanna pressed her cheeks briefly and hoped she could play off the redness as a side-effect of the drinks. "Kuni-sama, good afternoon!" she greeted, smiling as usual. "Glad to see you could make it. Here for the drinks too?"
"Actually," Junpei would say a bit apologetically as he was obligated to correct her for her mistake. He would take a look at his Maisuna wristwatch, which he still wore, even if it cost him the whole vibe of his traditional outfit. "It's actually the hour of the Dog right now, which would technically still make it mid-evening. However, everything else can still be true. It is indeed a good time, at the very least!"

He would smile back at her and nod. "I suppose we did see each other in the afternoon earlier. I hope that our meal at Muri Donburi provided you with the proper hearty nutritional edge to compete earlier?"

That might have been a bit of a silly question. Kanna didn't do so well earlier, so Junpei was more than ready to move on before she needed to answer that! "...Unfortunately, I won't be competing tonight as the head magistrate here, but that isn't to say that I'm not here for drinks. There is a provision in the local magistrate code that say I am allowed to have drinks equal to one plus the amount of supporting yoriki I have on hand at the moment. So..."

"One, two," he said as he made a quick count of a few heads he could see at the party. "I can indulge in up to three drinks tonight if I wish. Not enough to participate but enough to honour the Bon Festival. At the very least, I should dedicate one to my late sensei. Did...or rather, would Tamori-san like to join me?"

Which was good, because things were about to get deep and she nearly forgot to feel awkward about doing so in front of Kanna. With the space now for her, and Ayame, she would continue.

"See me today, and you might be surprised but I was not the most.." she chuckles to herself, glad for what she believes to be alcohol bravery but that's honestly probably worn off a bit. "Charismatic? I didn't have many friends, growing up. Didn't have any until your sister that is. Still don't, really. I have a few, but I have been known to scare many off. You never think talking about crabs would be that frightening but it makes sense that people get tired of it, tired of me. Anyway, your sister was the first person I think to ever approach me and not get chased off," she furrows her brow. "I wasn't the happiest of children. Used to pinch people that really annoyed me, which was most other kids. Anyway, it was about a toy, or something she was interested in? She was inviting me to come along with her, and I just remember walking with her for a long time listening to her," she shakes her head. "Details are a little hard to remember.. I was shocked, there was this girl and she was so.. sweet, and in a way that felt genuine, real. Umiko-chan was always good with people in a way I aspired to be. Knew it from that first day because... well, she was good with me."
"Pinch people? Really? What, like a crab?" She couldn't help but chuckle at that imagery, even if she thought it was a bit peculiar. "I kind of wonder if we would find ourselves in less trouble if we were just honest with ourselves and did just yet. Maybe not pinching, I think the adult equivalent would be to put people in hand-to-hand locks, that seems more Crab-like..."

Not to get too far off topic with her tangent, she would return to the original point. "I can see that in Umiko-chan, very much so. She always had an eye and heart for helping others, something I should take after. I know that she has a bit of an interest in bettering Tenjin Town and the rural parts of the island, which would be a good start if I were to follow those footsteps."

Ayame found herself unable to say anything further about those plans, especially knowing that she would be doing them with Umiko's absence. This was something she would have to find out from Umiko later.

"Right, right. Of course. Good evening!" Kanna chuckled as she corrected her greeting. Had she been so flustered she hadn't been aware of the incorrect greeting? Goodness, she shouldn't drink!

"Ah, I..." now she laughed bashfully, "it was a great meal. Really! But I'm a light-weight when it comes to drinking - at least in a competition. It's hard to keep up with everyone else! "Always thought crabs were cool," she says, almost sub-vocally to herself. Kneading Crabbo a little bit with her thumbs as she thinks on that a bit. Laughing, a little, at the suggestion of what the adult equivalent would be. Honoka's gaze had naturally drifted down as it did when she wasn't putting on a performance of some kind. Looking back up to Ayame at that little laugh. Allowing her to take her in when she spoke of her.

Flash of a thought, a little sparkle in her eye, "I would agree, yes, Ayame-sama," she says, shifting herself a little in her seat. Hands coming off Crabbo so he could just rest in her lap and she could look to Ayame more properly. "I think that would be an excellent step in the right direction. Of course, if I can be of any assistance in the matter or... well, really any matter you might need you should always know you can call on me. Professionally, or otherwise."

"Well, absolutely no shame in trying, Tamori-san. As you see here in the gathering, the honour is found in the attempt, rather than the victory. Of course, it does help to have a better attempt than others but those are small details you needn't worry about. You could always consider hitting the izakaya more or participating in future festivals..."

"But I digress. Come, Tamori-san!" He said as he waved for her to follow him. "Let's give a cup together while many of these barrels are filled, the hour is still Dog, and we have a pick of all the offerings here! To wonderful sake and alcohol!"

He would walk over to where the casks and barrels were situated, mostly reserved for the event, but Junpei had enough pull to cut in front of the line and request a cup or three for social reasons. There were a few masu sake cups around with the logos of various companies that donated everything to the temple. "Which one looks more appealing to you? The sake, I mean. I would like to be impartial, but I can't say no to the Daruma company."

"I don't think I've been to the Izakaya," she mused out loud, tapping her chin as she did, "but I would love to see more of the festivals here. You mentioned the Festival of Hida earlier and that would be neat to see!" As a member of a shugenja family, all sacred days were observed, but for those that didn't particularly concern the Dragon there was nothing more than just some prayers and incense. Seeing how the Crab celebrated Bon, she was sure the celebration of Hida would be quite the spectacle!

"H-hai!" Following his lead, Kanna felt a teeny tiny awkward about cutting in line, but it didn't seem like people minded from what she could tell.

Faced with the choices of sake, she tilted her head slightly to the side in thought. "Hmm... how about trying something new tonight, yeah? Tonight is a good night for new experiences! I'm pretty sure my horoscope said that." Kanna nodded seriously, but quickly smiled brightly.

Mention of Kaito had Honoka suddenly very aware of herself. Knowing she wasn't in the best state, she felt that weight of needing to be careful. Mouth thinking out into a line in the space of time just long enough for her to jump for the lifeline in the conversation, "I am certain the province will be better for it. At least, Umiko-chan will surely appreciate the effort. I.. believe she said you were a bit reluctant to engage in that area at first?" she asks. "Not that I am asking for you to explain yourself to me. Just that I am glad to see this change. I admit, Tenjin town was a part of the island I rarely thought of myself until recently. When my whole world is making call, sending emails, and making sure data is properly transferred or stored... well, it's all just feels so far apart now that I look at it," she says.

Honoka smiles to herself with a kinda dorky looking smile, not that she is aware of how it looks, "Which, of course, was thanks to Umiko-chan. Always something to admire.." she says, almost starting to kick her feet before she catches herself, and stops the motion before it gets full swing.

Faced with the choices of sake, she tilted her head slightly to the side in thought. "Hmm... how about trying something new tonight, yeah? Tonight is a good night for new experiences! I'm pretty sure my horoscope said that." Kanna nodded seriously, but quickly smiled brightly.
"Really?" Junpei would look back at Kanna curiously, then again, he hasn't either! "Well, maybe we could run into each other there sometime. Tama Izakaya has been around for probably more than a century on the island, far before the time of many people around here. During my first stay on the island, a long time ago, my sensei would drag me out there almost every night. Mostly because they were one of the first establishments that kept skirting the smoking laws around here."

That momentarily gave him the idea to check up on those violations, but that was another fixture around here that might earn him a few sworn enemies on the island if he rattled that cage...

"Ah, then, how about some Cherry Blossom Breeze sake? I don't think this has seen a high enough production run to even hit many store shelves. Perhaps only once a year at the Grey Carp with every bottle reserved already for gifts, collectors and connoisseurs. Quite the treat in itself. Just a forewarning, Tamori-san, it can be deceptively light. And, please," he would say the last sentence specifically to the attendant at the cast, they were generously given two scoops of a ladle for their masu before they were passed to both of them.

When it came to the toast, he took a moment to think about what to say. It was strange in the whirlwind of paperwork and crimes on the island, he hadn't had a good moment to truly honour his late sensei. "To the late Asataka-sensei, may your soul rest peacefully with your last case solved...well, more proper to say, to be solved after some proper conclusions are made in a few weeks, proper paperwork, gathered testimony, and official announcement. The proceedings are in good hands, and you've taught me well, thank you. I will honour your teachings and your post, kanpai!"

"Perhaps we will," Kanna's voice had a cheerful optimism to it. Yep, she would for sure get to the paperwork no oni of extending her stay in the coming days!

With the musa in hand, she couldn't resist taking a whiff of the sake's aroma to judge its ingredients, as if it was a cup of fine tea. "It does smell a little bit of cherry blossom!" she exclaimed with some surprise, having thought that the name was just to be fancy. "Thank you, for the sake and the warning." And so she'd raise the musa along with Junpei.

"May the dreaded paperwork be successfully defeated - kanpai!" At the last moment, Kanna managed to stop herself from gulping down the sake in one big swig like she had in the contest earlier - this wasn't a contest now - and she took a reasonable mouthful instead. "Hmmm... this is nice. It is very light indeed! This was a good choice, Kuni-sama!"

Ayame didn't seem too aware of the landmine of a topic her late cousin was. There seemed to be some bad secrets to keep, and good secrets to keep, at least according to Umiko. "We're going to be learning quite a lot about Umiko-chan in the next few weeks, as well as learning from ourselves and figuring out things," she nodded on the topic.

"Are you feeling a little better, Honoka-san?" She asked curiously, especially when it seemed like Honoka was feeling a bit like herself, but she didn't know her well enough to know what could be the alcohol talking. Especially, on the topic of crabs.

"Soshi-san," Kisha asks. "Are you okay? Do we need to, to get you home?"
"No more shots for Soshi san." Senshu drinks the last shot.

"I can call a cab for both of you, Kisha san. You don't seem that stable yourself." She leans closer to whisper again. "Which turns my dirty thoughts into just silly dreams." With that said, she stands up and a bump is heard. The Bayushi looks down. "Again?" She bends down and reaches for what appears to be Kisha's pouch.

"Hey, I know you!" She says and offers the pouch to the Miya. "Yours, right?"

"Yeah, maybe a cab--wait?" Kisha's head snaps up and around, and she squints a little at the Bayushi. "What dirty thoughts?"

She hiccups, then looks at the pouch. "Yeah, it's mine," the Miya says. "Maybe I am drunk."

She extends her hand for the pouch.

Junpei couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of paperwork. Honestly, it felt like that was what he was doing for the last two weeks while everything else was happening in the background. Well, other than that brief bit of excitement when he got a call that he had to attend to an apparently important noise disturbance. He raised his wooden up and took a small gulp, hoping to create the impression that Kanna didn't have to finish everything in one shot just because she was at a drinking party on a Crab world!

"Hm," he said with a nod of approval at the sweet floral notes in the sake. "Quite savoury too, likely a crowd-pleaser on any occasion. It does make me wonder why they haven't produced more of these to become accessible, they would likely sell out in any quantity. Perhaps the historic connotations? Or it takes. Then again, I'm not a savvy business samurai, like yourself. If something from say, Usagi no Yomogi spa, proved to be quite effective in soothing the soul, why hold back?"

"Ah, speaking of that...tell me if this is broaching too much into the topic of business over pleasure, I did notice the capital numbers funnelling through my office, had to miss even in passing. Do you think your business will see a branch here, Tamori-san?" He asked curiously.

She offers the pouch.

"Dirty thoughts?" She acts confused and smirks when Kisha speaks out loudly and she stops whispering, as well. "Mrs Miya, you're trying to seduce me."

She chuckles softly and her inner thoughts battle with each other. The ones that don't want to spoil things with Kisha versus those that want to draw Ayame's attention and all together against the ones that just want some peace and quiet inside her mind.

Since she's still standing, she leans in to whisper to Kisha. "You are drunk, yes. Go to bed and think of me. I will be thinking of you, as well."

Kisha accepts the pouch with an exaggerated nod.

"It's 'Ms.' or 'Miss,' you know," she says, a slight slur in the words. "But, yeah, I'm drunk. Again. Still?"

She looks at Senshuken, and there's something like a leer on her face as she adds, "What're you gonna think?"

Her eyebrows rose with surprise. "I didn't think those numbers passed through the magistrate's office." Oh no, what else did the magistrate office know? Every time she stayed up late? Or every performance she had had in the host's challenges and events? Kanna took a small sip from her square wooden cup again.

"It's no problem with bringing up the topic at all! I'm fairly sure we'll establish a branch here," she nodded with great certainty, "and one of my hopes for the future is to be posted here." There were other hopes too, but some were a bit more wild than others, not to mention too silly to entertain seriously at this point. "Is it something that caught your interest? A medi-spa?"
