[Day 7 - Mid Afternoon] RP Thread: Beach Oshidama Tournament (Sponsored by Kinsenka Breweries)

"That's a comfort," Kisha says. "I was worried I was the only one who didn't know what was going on."

''I'm pretty sure a lot more people just pretend they know what is going on then what we think.'' She finishes her sour ''Dating is such a fucking problem I refuse to believe that there is a simple way to do things without severe costs.''

"Who would give you trouble?" Kisha asks. "Seriously; it seems a stupid thing to do."

She shakes her head, then waves the server over for another order.

"And Iam grateful that you did, regardless of reasoning. I know I come off as this... Playboy and charmer and... Well, we've had our fun, but you didn't seem to be.having s good time earlier."

He takes a long sip of his drink. Eyes looking back at the court.

"I was a bit worried. I'm glad to know you feel better, your cheering certainly helped. Though it was a bit weird meeting your eyes after Kakita-sama slapped my ass..." He smirks at her, chuckling loudly remembering the moment.

"I don't think I'll make professional Oshidama anytime soon... But I have a title to defend now, maybe..."

I think my last opponent just got too...eager in the game and left me winded, but I'll be ok with some rest and relaxation. I'm not one for long periods of exercise, and after the obstacle course earlier and this now I just needed to sit down."

She reached over and patted his arm gently.

"Thank you though" she smiled.

There was a laugh though at the Kakitas actions.

"Who knows, maybe Kakita-sama took a liking to you? If you don't want to take on a professional Oshidama career there's always something with Usagi Drop right?"

[Bayushi Hinata]

"A playboy and a charmer, Hinata-san? I thought you were just a plushie collector" Sumiko offered with a chuckle "truthfully I am ok. I think my last opponent just got too...eager in the game and left me winded, but I'll be ok with some rest and relaxation. I'm not one for long periods of exercise, and after the obstacle course earlier and this now I just needed to sit down."

She reached over and patted his arm gently.

"Thank you though" she smiled.

There was a laugh though at the Kakitas actions.

"Who knows, maybe Kakita-sama took a liking to you? If you don't want to take on a professional Oshidama career there's always something with Usagi Drop right?"

"I can be both! People love plushies. They make me seem vulnerable and approachable." He chuckled alongside her. Laying down fully on the sand besides her. It was a new perspective for both of them most likely. Having Sumiko look down at him instead of the other way around. "It was uncalled for truly. I'm sorry your first serious experience with the sport was this rough."

He smiled at her gentle pats. Then laughs at her comments regarding Hiroki. "Joining as a sort of roadie might be fun. My sister would kill me for the position though. I can'te very well join them after all. There's already a Hinata and a Bayushi in the group, I'd just confuse everyone." He laughs at the prospect.

Another drag of his can precedes him looking up at the sky directly. "If the Scorpion earn the crab's partnership... I might just end up stationed here permanently. There's a very real chance this might become my home in the foreseeable future. I'm not quite sure on how I feel about this."

"Who would give you trouble?" Kisha asks. "Seriously; it seems a stupid thing to do."

She shakes her head, then waves the server over for another order.

''Dicks would'' she replied ''People who say that woman are dramatic have never been approached by men. Or maybe it's just a me thing. Women don't cause nearly has much problems.''

She shrugs. "Haven't had much occasion to, really. I don't know that much of anything I've done could count as a date, let alone a relationship."

"Honestly?" Kisha says. "Not really. Or I didn't notice it if they did, anyway. I mean, I'm okay, but then my friends are all beautiful or striking or really smart or really strong, or they're two or three or all of them, and," she shrugs, "I'm happy for my friends!"

The server finally makes it over to the pair. "Another lemon for me, please," Kisha says, "and for Moto-san?"

''I am sure. If you are not aware then I am sure you missed it.'' she peeked over the menu and replied ''I'll take the lager this time'' before returning to the topic

''I am neither beautiful, nor striking, nor really smart. I am strong...sure but that's not the magnet you think it is. If, despite this, got approached...so did you. You are very friendly and easy to go along with..trust me, that's as good as anything else.''

"Don't worry. Really, it'll be a bruise for a bit and I'll move on. No reason to create any more of a scene here. And a roadie position does sound fun though right? Touring the worlds, seeing the high life that all the clans have to offer. Beaches, underwater cities, tropic paradises? It sounds like a great way to be."

She fell into silence as she considered what to say, before adding "staying here wouldn't be the worst either though. I won't be, but there's plenty who will."

Touring the worlds, seeing the high life that all the clans have to offer. Beaches, underwater cities, tropic paradises? It sounds like a great way to be."

His face softens into thought as the silence hangs between the two. "There are worse fates in the empire. Worse places, worse postings. It probably won't be truly permanent either, I'd remains s part of Kazushi-sama's division as the Orchid Department settles and lays root..."


"I guess... Well, this was supposed to be a vacation for me! I wasn't expecting to be faced with life defining choices. Great people, amazing courtiers and athletes. And I'm here... Wondering what's next, and whether I'll have a say in it."

Sumiko tilted her head, studying the man as he explained things after being disturbed by his boss messaging him. There was a curious look on her face, which eventually settled into a smile.

"I've travelled alone for a while, it's not truly that bad. I bring books, or my new kami-pet. Reading, studying. Going over the notes I made of the next place I travel to. Not that I'd mind sharing that journey with someone, but I spent years alone so I supposed I'm more used to losing myself in a novel or a deep study and the time flies by!"

There was a chuckle.

"However this sounds deeper for you Hinata-san? You've discovered the galaxy is big but duty is limiting, huh? I find the best way to have a choice in ones life is to make yourself look better for the duties that'll take you where you want to go. I was a librarian prior to my first duty outside Whispers, and my superiors decided that I'm better suited to travelling and representing the Spider than running a library. And after my first journey I was more than happy to continue presenting that image to them. You can Control your own destiny with smart presentation" she winked "the Orchid department may be your current employer but you're still your clans asset beyond that department."

"I don't doubt it," Kisha says. "I do okay alone, get a lot done for the videos and all. But I think it's better yet to have good friends to do things with. Other people see things I miss, and not just because I can't always see over the shelves, and so many things are set up to do together, you know?"

She nods.

If you want we can meet up sometime and talk about it more privately? Sometimes an outside perspective is the best one, and you're supposed to be celebrating a big win after all."

Sumiko watched the man turning away with amusement, but she listened to the words that came with it.

She put her can down in front of where Hinata had turned, then turned over herself to lay on her stomach so they were at a better eye level.

"I don't think you really want what Bayushi Kazushi-sama has. His life is far more tied than yours is you know. The weight of status and responsibility grows more as you climb that ladder. "This does sound like wine and dinner talk yes. But I like beach and swimwear, you look great in the latter I must say." He speaks without looking her way, a hand reaches timidly to one of hers, his pinky looking for one of her fingers to hook onto.

"But you misunderstand. Iam acutely aware of his posting and accompanying demands. Status and respect are nice but that's not it..." He turns hie head to look her in the eyes. "I cannot tell you with 100% certainty he loves his wife. Even if I've teased him about it in the past, I understand it was arranged. But he has her companionship, and I very much know she has his. Every once in a while he'll be in the middle of whatever serious affair demands his full attention, and he will always, without fail, drop whatever it is on his plate to look at a text with a picture of his son and grow a smile from ear to ear..."

The tone he has is almost a whisper. Not wine and dinner, but rather darkness and pillows. "I don't think I much care where it is I go, or stay. I care that there's someone out there who wants to be wherever Iam, even if they cannot. Maybe I feel like I cannot exist if Iam not wanted."

He rested his cheek on his free hand, looking sideways at the spider laying besides him.

"Do not believe Iam in a sour mood Sumi-chan. Your company might be celebration enough." The hand that had reached out goes to hold hers between his fingers, rigging his thumb over the back of her hand.

"Tell you what. Tomorrow night, do you like Karaoke?"

"I don't doubt it," Kisha says. "I do okay alone, get a lot done for the videos and all. But I think it's better yet to have good friends to do things with. Other people see things I miss, and not just because I can't always see over the shelves, and so many things are set up to do together, you know?"

She nods.
