[Day 9 - Late Evening] RP Thread: Arcade Action Affair!

[Kuni Sumie]

''I've been to New Kalani in the last year or so, that might be where I caught your nickname.'' She had the impression that was about a unicorn...and cheesecake? She could not remember what dessert had to do with anything.

''Still, impressive travelling. What place did you enjoy better? Is Nakahama your home turf?''

"None," she said on the matter, looking rather unimpressed. "Everywhere has some issues that prevent themselves from being completely cool and not lame. Just when I find a place that could be considered acceptable, then something just creeps up and is a complete deal breaker. Suddenly, a host of issues just magically come up afterwards in my duties like 'oh, why aren't you doing your job?', 'oh, what are you doing with all of that glassware in your bag?', 'why are you making your own medicine, that's not sanctioned' and 'oh, why did this person die and you didn't say anything?'. Then suddenly I'm the problem, and they give me the boot. It keeps happening, instead of figuring out the real person who did all of this."

"This place? Nah. In the middle of nowhere and fair to mainstream. Too clean. At least Aoihama is large, gritty, and kind of dangerous in some parts. Even then, it's nothing compared to Oka." She shrugged on that note.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

Taraka was certainly having fun at the event. The only thing that would make it more fun was more company. Scanning around the floor there were a lot of people enjoying themselves, but the one who really stuck out was the Shinjo carting around quite the bounty.

"Evening Shinjo-san." she said with a bow. "It looks like you've had quite an evening."

"Oh Taraka-san," Suh-Hyun undoubtedly looked a little silly in shorts holding a giant plushie shark and a case of beer. "Yeah, I can add fighting game master to my list of titles apparently." She assumed it was a given the racing game would have been easy. "How about yourself? Good job keeping your team's car going by the way. I thought you had us at the end there, but wow a tied finish. Couldn't be more exciting. Bayushi-san is really good."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Somehow...just a hunch...it was possible that Sumie was: A) An awful doctor who didn't really care and was too absorbed by herself to initiate any instrospection.

''Have you considered that you might be cursed?'' the Moto wondered ''If trouble is following you then it is likely to have something do do with you rather then anyone else...but considering you are Doctor Badass...'' she shrugs ''...maybe someone put the evil eye on you. Jealousy brings it, I think.''

[Kuni Sumie]

"Hah? What?" Sumie would lean forward for a moment to show exasperation on the matter. "Me? Cursed? Like seriously, you think that I'm cursed with some sort of evil eye?"

She gave it a moment's thought and eventually nodded slowly to it, like she was jiving with it. "...Actually, that doesn't exactly sound all that bad, to be honest. If anything, that's more badass. I mean, you don't suppose that maybe there's a way to control this curse and turn it around? I've been trying to come up with extra-judicial ways to win a few games and competitions. So, if a curse gets in the way of that, one that I'm not responsible for and totally by coincidence does something to someone else. Maybe something embarrassing. Maybe they lose a foot. Or maybe they get their head separated from their neck. You know, general skill issue troubles. Totally not my fault, I would deserve to get the win."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime had begun thinking that option A was the most logical choice if the idea of a curse was both accepted and immediately sought to be capitalized upon. Still...she guessed that allowed her to learn more about this Kuni. This could also stop her from actually cheating in any meaningful way.

''Sure..if you are not confident in you own abilities there might be a way. I know that there are amulets that wards and deflects the evil eye. Usually they have the eye motif...probably to invoque the same vibe as 'stare at the abyss and the abyss stares back' type of shit.''

Shiwahime tilted her head wondering if her next idea was the facsimile of a curse into itself...but clearly Sumie needed friends or some sort of support system

''I don't know if they can help but...there are rumors of an actual underground cult on the island. Very elusive and exclusive''

[Yasuki Taraka]

"Oh Taraka-san," Suh-Hyun undoubtedly looked a little silly in shorts holding a giant plushie shark and a case of beer. "Yeah, I can add fighting game master to my list of titles apparently." She assumed it was a given the racing game would have been easy. "How about yourself? Good job keeping your team's car going by the way. I thought you had us at the end there, but wow a tied finish. Couldn't be more exciting. Bayushi-san is really good."

Taraka grinned.

"A good night of playing Shadowlands Invaders and really good luck with the gachapon machines." she admitted. "I haven't cashed in my tickets yet, I'll need to decide soon, but was holding off in case anyone found themselves a few tickets short of an actually nice prize." she admitted.

She looked over at the Moto who was practically holding a crate of tickets for besting the strength machine.

"Then again, it looks like Moto-san could practically treat everyone if she so chose. I wonder what she'll end up doing." she mused.

She nodded at the mention of the race.

"Keep the rotors on the drone, keep the wheels on the car, same idea, just moving a different way." she demurred. "But that was the best seat in the house for the rally. I can't remember rally times that were that good or that close before. It's a shame you and Bayushi-san can't get another race scheduled to settle who is actually fastest."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

She nodded. "You can try... let's beat that high score." She smiled.

"No luck this time," he says as his fighter is downed. "I forgot how fast the pace on this game is."

[Bayushi Hinata]

Into the Arcades walks the Scorpion's premier bushi... and the only bushi that worked directly with the delegation for that matter. Under each arm he's holding giant plush animals, a shark and a life-sized jimen-tori! He has a tired smile on his face as he looks for a place to lean against and procures his communicator.

"*Ding* Hey Sumi-chan! Done with the arcades? I got a few prizes I don't mind sharing! I'm nest to the Racing Section.

The button presses down as he slumps against the floor in a full suit. He was hoping Kazushi wouldn't be looking.

[Kaiu Nagisa]

Having exchanged her tickets, Nagisa now has herself a case of alcohol and a giant shark. She really only had use for the former.

Oh well, it’s more of a gift grab, anyway. Not like she could find room for the thing around her place.

[Susumu Sumiko]

Into the Arcades walks the Scorpion's premier bushi... and the only bushi that worked directly with the delegation for that matter. Under each arm he's holding giant plush animals, a shark and a life-sized jimen-tori! He has a tired smile on his face as he looks for a place to lean against and procures his communicator.

"*Ding* Hey Sumi-chan! Done with the arcades? I got a few prizes I don't mind sharing! I'm nest to the Racing Section.

The button presses down as he slumps against the floor in a full suit. He was hoping Kazushi wouldn't be looking.

Sumiko had been made jump by the communicator which meant she missed a claw grab. There was a small huff, but she checked the message and there was a grin. Rather than reply, she made her way over to where the racing machines were and she eventually spotted the pile of plushies and one Scorpion. She peeked over the top of the largest one.

"Good job Hinata-kun, falling on the floor stopped any of the plushies getting dirty!"

[Bayushi Hinata]

Sumiko had been made jump by the communicator which meant she missed a claw grab. There was a small huff, but she checked the message and there was a grin. Rather than reply, she made her way over to where the racing machines were and she eventually spotted the pile of plushies and one Scorpion. She peeked over the top of the largest one.

"Good job Hinata-kun, falling on the floor stopped any of the plushies getting dirty!"

He looks up as he hears her voice with a big grin on his face, he looks tired, but he's happy regardless.

"Had to keep the goods safe, I don't deliver sub par gifts Susumu-san!" He rises to his feet with one plushie under each arm, each bigger or about the same size as the courtier in front of him.

"I didn't much like the other items on offer. And we'll, I thought of you when I saw these. They're about the right size for you to ride out of here on. So which one are you mounting up on?"

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

Taraka grinned.

Suh-Hyun waggled a finger, "It's not the same idea. One is done without a time crunch. Don't diminish yourself Yasuki-san. You demonstrated skill by not only doing the job right but by doing it very quickly. It's an accomplishment."

"I suspect Bayushi-san would ultimately prevail, but I wouldn't make it easy for her." She smirked, "But what's the penalty for speeding, might as well ask what the highest end of the penalty is. But more seriously I wouldn't mind another race, perhaps we can meet on her home turf or mine next time."

[Yasuki Taraka]

She looked over at the Shinjo's giant shark.

"So were you planning on keeping that giant shark, or did you have someone you were planning on gifting it to?" she asked.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

Taraka chuckled.

"I know an idiot that needs a room mate." Suh-Hyun grins, "I figure Same-san here is about the same level of intelligence."

"What about you, sharing the bottle with someone or treating yourself to some decadent lounging?"

"Oh! Yeah, New Hope Castle is massive. Like really massive. Most of the Shinjo not engaged in other duties live there. I learned to fly a glider in one of the large garden domes." She laughed, "Dropped out of the central tower overlooking the plants, used to dare each other to pull up at the last second. I won those dares more often then not!" The Unicorn puffed out her chest a little. She'd probably have posed hands on hips if she wasn't holding beer and a shark.

"Oh! Yeah, New Hope Castle is massive. Like really massive. Most of the Shinjo not engaged in other duties live there. I learned to fly a glider in one of the large garden domes." She laughed, "Dropped out of the central tower overlooking the plants, used to dare each other to pull up at the last second. I won those dares more often then not!" The Unicorn puffed out her chest a little. She'd probably have posed hands on hips if she wasn't holding beer and a shark.

Taraka laughed.

"Well I'm glad Same-san won't be lonely. As for the wine.....I don't have any immediate plans for it. But it''ll make a fine gift for someone, and it will keep for quite some time." she admitted. "Same reasoning for the things I picked up at Fan Con. Future gifts for future needs that will only become more rare the longer I hold on to them."

She whistled at the description of New Hope Castle.

"That sounds really impressive, Shinjo-san. I'll admit, I'd like to see that with my own eyes. I wonder if I can find some archived video on it's construction. Working on such a scale is awe-inspiring." she said, impressed.

Sumiko for her part had nothing on her it seemed, so she'd either not spent her tokens yet or had found somewhere to stash them.

"Hmm...oh that life sized Jimen Tori is so cute! I had considered getting that myself! But which one do you like more? You won them all after all. I don't want to take your favourite away from you."

[Bayushi Hinata]

"Ride out? Are they moving plushies, like a fluffy horse?" Sumiko asked, an amused chuckle as she stepped back to let the man stand up and sort out his far too many bags. Sumiko for her part had nothing on her it seemed, so she'd either not spent her tokens yet or had found somewhere to stash them.

"Hmm...oh that life sized Jimen Tori is so cute! I had considered getting that myself! But which one do you like more? You won them all after all. I don't want to take your favourite away from you."

"I unfortunately couldn't find any fluffy horses on the prize pool. Maybe you should meet Miya Kisha-sama, she has a pretty pony you might enjoy riding for a spell." He tilts his head with a wide smile.

"I'll... admit I hadn't thought of that..." He lifted each in turn giving them a look, suddenly fatigue shows on his features once more, even if he's trying to cover it with his smile. "I just... I went on instinct and bought the ones I thought you'd like best for your collection. I-" He slumps against the wall slightly. Sliding back onto the floor, his eyes widen for a moment as he notices his strength waning.

"Oh- ok! That's... I think I need a few more minutes down here." He seems less and less convicing with each passing sacond.

"I unfortunately couldn't find any fluffy horses on the prize pool. Maybe you should meet Miya Kisha-sama, she has a pretty pony you might enjoy riding for a spell." He tilts his head with a wide smile.

"I'll... admit I hadn't thought of that..." He lifted each in turn giving them a look, suddenly fatigue shows on his features once more, even if he's trying to cover it with his smile. "I just... I went on instinct and bought the ones I thought you'd like best for your collection. I-" He slumps against the wall slightly. "Oh- ok! That's... I think I need a few more minutes down here." He seems less and less convicing with each passing sacond.

Sumiko had gone to reply but she saw the guy start to look tired and then slide down the fall. There was a frown, and she crouched in front of him.

"Wait here, I'll be back in a moment" she said with a smile, before standing and walking up. She would be back in a few minutes, carrying cans of energy drinks. She would offer one to Hinata.

[Bayushi Hinata]

Sumiko had gone to reply but she saw the guy start to look tired and then slide down the fall. There was a frown, and she crouched in front of him.

"Wait here, I'll be back in a moment" she said with a smile, before standing and walking up. She would be back in a few minutes, carrying cans of energy drinks. She would offer one to Hinata.

He was looking rougher around the edges than she'd... well ever seen him. He was clearly tired, if still awake and mostly functional. He sets the prizes on his lap with some difficulty as he accepts the can.

He opens it without a hitch and takes a big swig. His tie and shirt have been loosened and unbuttoned slightly to let him breathe and cool down easier.

"I may have been stretched a bit too thin today." He gives her a sheepish smile. Greedily taking in more of the energy drink. "Man I feel so lame, I was trying to be all cool handing you the prizes! Sorry to make you fuss about me Sumiko-san."

"That doesn't sound too bad at all, actually," Sumie said, plotting in her head. "Would be actually kind of badass if you could actually reflect curses on people. Maybe even consider taking some yourself. I think I've seen some movies like but they like, uh, die in the end. Clearly, they weren't responsible or powerful enough. Skill issue. I have a way better chance of playing it smart after seeing those movies. Not that I could go out and get cursed, but kind of more an incidental thing..."

She cleared her throat and looked around to give herself an alibi defence. "Again, totally not cheating, it just happened that way...I swear..."

"Yeah, what kind of cult?" She asked with her brows raised.

If she knew what Hinata was doing right about now, he might have to consider joining something underground himself or be put underground forcibly.
