[Day 8 - Late Morning, Magistrate's Office] Mourning Vigil (Open)

[Kaiu Nagisa]

“A hero? That’s a little… Bit… Much.” The Kaiu didn’t exactly feel much like a hero after last night. It still didn’t feel quite real. Regardless of her own feelings, Nagisa gave a small bow in a way to accept the sincere praise she had received. “I thank you both for your kind words, however.”

Yakura nodded solemnly. "I didn't expect...well, this. This place has been kind and fun so far." She glanced over to the karo, sadness tinged her eyes. "Glad you enjoyed the rest. The governor and her retinue are doing their best to make this a fun place."

"It's working," Kisha says, keeping her voice low so as not to disturb others. "But it's a useful reminder that there will always be sorrows in the world. And enduring them is no pleasant thing, but enduring them reminds us, or it can remind us, to treasure the goodness that presents itself to us, as well as such places as these that are so generous with them."

Another bow returned.

"You're right that Nagisa-san is a hero. We wouldn't have made it, if not for her," Kanna looked over to Nagisa, shooting her a brief but sincere smile. This island is fortunate to have someone like her living here, and the Crab fortunate to call her kin."

Her tone focused more to Umiko now, maintaining her usual warmth and friendliness. "This hasn't dampened my impression of this place nor its people one bit. There's nothing to worry about there, Yasuki-sama."

"We are truly thankful to have such a bright and optimistic guest such as yourself, Tamori-san," she said with a mustered smile on the matter. Her gaze would drift to Nagisa, and she would give her a nod as well, once again thankful to have a local such as herself.

Umiko went silent for a period of time before looking to the people who had gathered here. While she had a place to mourn Kaito's passing for the remainder of the hour, she was still karo, and some things needed to be addressed. She would take a few steps away from Kaito's body, expecting Kanna to follow. Her tone went hush, although Nagisa could still hear and involve herself if she so wished. "...Have you met Miya Kisha-san by chance? It seems that she's doing a bit of publicity work around the island, and I've already mentioned to her your involvement in volunteering for the Bon Festival. She showed some interest in speaking to you. If you haven't yet, perhaps this could be an opportunity...? Or at least to arrange something in the future."

Well, she supposed the Bon Festival was tangentially related to mourning here...

"I have," Kisha says, quietly, nodding. "Accidents, even grievous ones, remain part of experience. Crimes still happen, too, and I've had the...experience of reporting on them before. Even with what is covered up, what is kept from public view, it's an...unpleasant thing."

She shakes her head. "But, as you say," she continues, "we're all subject to it."

Then realised Umiko stepped away, so Kanna followed.

"Oh... no I haven't had the chance to meet her properly, but I watch her daily videos." She glanced over to the Miya, trying to not make it obvious. "I will seize the opportunity now! I arranged for flyers for the festival and have been talking to the local shops about it too, and it seems people are working up excitement about it." Kanna tried to sound as reassuring as she could in the hopes that it would put Umiko at ease. She didn't need to worry about this on top of mourning a cousin!

"And the alcohol has been blessed."

I've been meaning to personally talk to some of the local business owners about the Festival, but things have gotten busy for me...So, thank you for taking the initiative to speak to them. You've really gone above and beyond in that effort. Perhaps I could get your opinion on which art to use for Koi-kun on the Tobiuo transit cards later?"

She offered another glance to Kisha and Yakura, and thought maybe it was best to show some initiative of her own. Any early publicity for Kanna's efforts would serve as good recognition, and admittedly, some good news for the island.

"My apologies for my interruption...Miya-san, do you recall I spoke about Tamori Kanna-san and her volunteer efforts with the Bon Festival? I have her here. Perhaps it would be a good time to get some of her thoughts for your content?"

Kisha immediately stops, turns, and bows again, the Miya training kicking in.

"No apologies are needed, of course, Yasuki-karo. I am, of course, at your disposal."

She will turn and bow to the Tamori, the pair of them more or less at a height.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance at last, Tamori-san," she says, "although I could wish me met in a happier way. Still, a lot of people have said a lot of nice things about you to me, so I'm happy to get to meet you!"

Kanna bowed to the Imperial. "It's an honor to meet you, Miya-sama. I am a huge fan of your daily commentary videos!" She wished she could be as cool as Kisha.

"Tamori Kanna, brand ambassador of Usagi no Yomogi. And as Yasuki-sama said a volunteer for the Bon Festival."

With that arranged, Umiko would be content to allow the two space to speak and arrange things on their own. In the meantime, she would return to her watch of the body of Yasuki Kaito.

Kisha will bow to the retreating karo. She will also hold up a finger to the Tamori with a short bow of her head before turning to Yakura.

"Yoritomo-san," the Miya will say, "I'll make a point of getting to the Azure Dragon soon; it sounds exciting! For the moment, I've got to apologize. There are some festival preparations I have to discuss with Tamori-san, here, and they'll end up going to the governor. Please excuse me."

She will bow again at that point.

"No problem at all." Replied Yakura wit a shallow bow. "WE shall meet sometime then."

Kanna nodded and bowed, awaiting the Imperial's attentions to be returned again.

"Thank you, Yoritomo-san," Kisha says.

Then she returns to Kanna. "So," she continues. "What all are the plans so far? And has Moto-san talked to you about our ideas at all?"

"The monks said donations are always needed, as are willing hands and muscles. They also mentioned asking for some fireworks from the local businesses..." Kanna cupped her own chin in one hand, trying to remember it all. "No, I haven't spoken to Moto-san no. She didn't seem that interested in helping when Yasuki-sama first asked, but I'm glad if she has come around!"

"I was talking with her yesterday," she says, "and she suggested that one thing that could be done would be to use drones to carry festival lanterns. I'll be meeting with her tomorrow to get more details ironed out. I've also put out some information on my channels, which I hope has helped. But if you're spearheading arrangements, I should ask you: what else would be good to put out there? And do you know anyone who might help with the drone idea?"

"Oh!" Her face lit up. "Doesn't that sound perfect for the Flying Battle Carps? Yasuki Taraka-san must have lots of drones, maybe some she doesn't use anymore for customers, that could be put to use! Maybe the Steel Claw shop has some too..." maybe Nagisa would have some drones too she could contribute.

"Using drones is a wonderful idea! Let's see... other things to put out there, I think it would be good to make sure local businesses can set up stalls. Festivals need stalls."
