The bird really did seem to be listening to the Kitsune. He was amazing!

"Please tell her thank you thank you! And if she has any happy songs or love songs she hasn't shared yet, that would be very good to include. Also, do they have dances?"

Could the bird understand him? It seemed to be working!

She was trying to make sketches to quietly capture the movements. She could re-watch the video footage, but she could begin to translate lines into plates. Points of articulation. Oh, this was getting everything she needed!

"I've thanked her." He responded. "The only one she left out was the warning call. She didn't to alarm the others."

"Oh, well, that's very kind of you to say." The bird said, preening again. "Tell your friend he's welcome."

"Oh!" He smiled. "She says you're welcome, Kakita-san."

"Oh that was smart to not do the warning cry."

"Is there anything we could do for them? Do they have everything they need?"

Clearly the Kitsune could speak to the birds in a way she could not understand! It was marvelous!

He had to be careful about addressing Haruhi. The spell required focus on the bird.

"Can we get you and your friends anything?" He asked the bird.

"Oh, well, I mean, if you've got any fish and it's not too much trouble..."

There was some nearby warbling.

"Oh! Oh. Hmmm." The bird tilted its head. "You don't happen to know the way to The Special Place, do you?"

"The special place? Could you describe it?"

"Well, no, not really..." The bird warbled. "I mean, I can't rightly describe a place I've never seen, can I?" The bird flapped a bit. "But it's supposed to be a marvelous place. Safe, lots of fish... ummm... lots and lots of fish." She bobbed her head eagerly.

"We'll find it for you, and come back." He offeted.

"What is she saying?" she asked. She could only hear bird sounds.

"I'll help! Anything they need."

"They like fish. And, they are looking for a special place with a lot of fish. They may be migrating." He explained.

"I brought some fish for our picnic! I'll set it out for them."

It was all the fish she had. Not nearly enough for all the birds nearby, but at least a treat for the one talking to them.

"I am sure we can find it! We could scout the area with drones. Ask the locals if they've heard of it."

He nodded. "I told her we'd find it and return to show them where it was."

"Kitsune-san, you are a wonder! I can't thank you enough. This is so much more than I had hoped to capture. It's a dream come true!"

"And think of the other birds we might find who have already made their way to the precious place!"

"You're right. Such a place is bound to attract other wildlife." He agreed. "It sounds like a very special place."

"Where could we find maps of the island? The Governor? Can you think of ways we could research this? Beyond just exploring?"

"We can ask around. I imagine there must be some fishermen aware of such a place." he suggested. "But the Governor of her Karo may be able to direct us."

She nodded. "This is so exciting! Let's touch base as we learn more, and find this secret place. We can put together an expedition with some protective folks once we have an idea of where to look."
