[Day 2 - Early Afternoon] My First Market (RP Thread)

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

"I see - what a wise child. They clearly speak from a wealth of experience. Always worth trusting a local." She said, nodding a few times as she continued the bit. "Hmmm, then I'll take.... Yuzu."

Kotori reaches into her pocket for a few coins.

"And what would you like Kitsuki-san?"

The Dragon quirked her brow curiously. "You're offering to buy, Soshi-san? If so.. I'll take pineapple."

[Soshi Kotori]

"I see - what a wise child. They clearly speak from a wealth of experience. Always worth trusting a local." She said, nodding a few times as she continued the bit. "Hmmm, then I'll take.... Yuzu."

Kotori reaches into her pocket for a few coins.

"And what would you like Kitsuki-san?"

The Dragon quirked her brow curiously. "You're offering to buy, Soshi-san? If so.. I'll take pineapple."

"If not, you'll take something else?" Kotori teases, holding the coins half way as if she's ransoming the very flavour of the sorbet itself.

[Susumu Sumiko]

The man sighs, rubbing the back of his head as he answers. "I think I did a plenty respectable job considering my skillset. Iam much better versed in buying things than selling them if I'm being honest." Honesty? From a Scorpion? wild.

"Sango-san's a good kid, I think I'll just tough it out the rest of the day. Unless of course you'd like to help me, I wouldn't mind spending some more time together." He smiles warmly at her, looking down from his distractingly high perch. The Ninja plushie is helf by his side, he gives it a look before bringing up to the side of his face and grinning at Sumi.

"Bubble tea then! I could definetely do with some mango to recharge. Alcohol, I don't much drink to ease dealing with bossy merchants. I'd rather use it to loosen up in a different context... This way then?" He gives her a conspiratorial smile before he turns to stride away, making sure to slow down so Sumi can match his pace.

"You enjoying the island? It feels homey in a way I think. Reminds me of the smaller towns in the World of Dreams."

"I'm not at home with buying or selling really. I'm a scholar, not a merchant. I study things, so I just studied the market and applied what I knew with some creative differences to get the deals completed. Which appeared to be quite successful" Sumiko nodded, looking pleased with herself "however I don't think my methods would work well with your young student so I'll have to leave you to educate her and just keep you company until you're trapped back in your merchant prison for the afternoon."

Sumiko turned and walked at pace with the taller Scorpion, thankful he didn't rush. The bubble tea stall was not too far away at least.

"The island so far has been...interesting. My experiences of World of Dreams would match here except for less bright lights and a lack of a true wildlife sanctuary. A volcano and abandoned hotel make up somewhat for that" she chuckled "it's very different from home for me but I also haven't been home in over a year now and nothing is like Whispers in the galaxy."

[Bayushi Hinata]

"I'm not at home with buying or selling really. I'm a scholar, not a merchant. I study things, so I just studied the market and applied what I knew with some creative differences to get the deals completed. Which appeared to be quite successful" Sumiko nodded, looking pleased with herself "however I don't think my methods would work well with your young student so I'll have to leave you to educate her and just keep you company until you're trapped back in your merchant prison for the afternoon."

Sumiko turned and walked at pace with the taller Scorpion, thankful he didn't rush. The bubble tea stall was not too far away at least.

He takes his time walking besides the Spider. He did enjoy her company, he was thankful they met again after their small run-in at the Skycarp station. "It's no prison at all. The kid is just enthused about her futures I can relate to that, I don't think many wouldn't."

Soon enough the arrive at the bubble tea stall, there's only a short line thankfully. He stands, hands in his pockets as he looks down with a raised eyebrow. "You've been to the World of Dreams? I'm A native from there myself. Did you like your stay there? I admit nature and wildlife are quite scarce. But there were places to go to get away from the bustle of the Empire." Silence hangs between them before his expression softens, he looks her in the eye before he asks.

"You miss your home? Or are you still glad you're getting to know the Galaxy?"

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

"If not, you'll take something else?" Kotori teases, holding the coins half way as if she's ransoming the very flavour of the sorbet itself.

Ichitaiyo decided to riposte and lunge forwards with her words, and no long be a step back but play the game. Her hand reached over to the one that held the credits, slate eyes drove right into the Scorpion's and the gentle pull of the cheeks indicated to a smile or smirk beneath the rebreather, daring for more.

"Surprise me then."

[Susumu Sumiko]

Or keep a drake happy like on World of Dreams" there was a smile as they reached the stall "and hai I spent a month or so there on duty reasons around 4 or 5 months ago. Staying in Kyuden Oborozuki, which was a wonderful experience and I'd love to return again some day. Both to see how the species restoration is going and to visit the gardens again, they were so unique even if it was digital instead of real."

"Hmm...truthfully? Not really. I miss my library, and reading real books, and researching the future. However if it was up to me I'd visit all the stars in the sky, all the planets in the galaxy. Meet the native animals, document everything. It would be so exciting to visit it all right? What about Bayushi-sama, are you much of an explorer or do you prefer to be closer to home?"

"You were with that team? You're amazing! You saved one of my homeworld's treausres! Last I heard the population was rising steadily, they're expecting for their birth rates to double by next year!" Enthusiasm drips out of his mouth with every word. Or maybe it's the mango and passion fruit tea...

"You've the soul for adventure I see. Can't say Iam exactly like that. I'd love to explore the galaxy but the wilds aren't what calls to me. It's the people, knowing customs, dialects, habits, traditions. If you snake your way out of serving with your clan's armies you'd be suprised at how many people you just meet while working security." He smiles widely and armly at her. She'd saved a piece of his home, gratitude was plain to see on his face.

[Suzume Hitomi]

Umiko raised her brows momentarily at Hitomi's comforting words. As comforting as they were, the Way of the Carp was not too different from the Doji line of training. Going back to their conversation, there were certain expectations and molds established in the Empire of old. At the root level, there were some similarities.

However, she wouldn't be so open to sharing her concerns today.

"Thank you, Suzume-san. You are very much part of this community, and we very much appreciate your continued support," she said politely on the matter, providing a quick bow of gratitude.

Hitomi bows in return. "Of course, Yasuki-sama. I have felt very much welcomed here and hope to repay that as I can." She glances back as Mariko's stall clears a moment. "I should get back and help Mariko-chan tally up, she looks pretty excited. Happy First Market to you."

With that, she returns to hear an excited recap of recent sales.

"Happy First Market to you, and Mariko-chan too," she smiled softly as the Suzume returned to her duties to help her charge.

Umiko would linger around the market but would ultimately find herself preoccupied with the management and organizational aspects of the event.

I advised my kin stationed on the World of Dreams that the area around the lab would benefit a combined approach to deal with whatever tear or issue causing a link to gaki-do but I don't know if anything has happened in that regards. Hopefully your kin will understand the importance of closing such a tear if one exists, Gaki-do is not a realm to mess with."

Sumiko sipped her drink before she continued.

"I wouldn't say soul of adventure, but I do want to see everything out there. There is so much we don't know still even now, it's mysterious and exciting. Even going among the planets of different people you can experience different customs, different environments. The Tower of Storms on New Kalani for example, incredible sights and the people change their customs based on being on a planet like this with so much of it underwater. You mention security, have you been to many other planets Bayushi-sama or was this your first trip?"

[Tamori Kanna]

"Lonesome? Tamori-san the void is full of stars, each one of them could potentially hold a world. How could we be alone surrounded by so much?" She laughed, "But more seriously life is compacted on a ship, even on the carrier one becomes at least passingly familiar with everyone. You are all going to meet at some point."

"Planets just feel like so much excess space to me, and you can live your whole lie on a planet and not meet everyone. And yet very few have many unknowns. But in the stars, every jump can be something new and exciting." Her eyes drift upwards, "And none of that accounts for the feel of space. Unrestrained by gravity one can go anywhere, just a twist of the joystick and press on the throttle."

"Space is excess space!" Kanna retorted with a friendly laugh. This was a perfectly fine thing to disagree on. "I don't really enjoy flying, but I can see the appeal. I guess I am too partial to the earth under my feet, the breeze in the trees, and the sound of waves against the shore... and this planet has so much of all three!"

"But I do like the view from the observation decks on ships, so I will grant that I can agree with that."

I've met plenty of delegates and bussiness partners from other clans cooperating with the Orchid Department." He smirks at her with the straw in his mouth.

"Also you don't need to call me Sama. Iam quite sure Iam of no repute in comparison to a distinguished courtier like you. We're probably equals in that regard. You can be more personable with me... I wouldn't mind you know?" His voice has a certain bend to it, a certain tone that suggests more than just what his words entail.

"It sounds like your charge is expanding his ideas so maybe you'll see more as you remain in his employ? The Orchid department has many fingers in many places from what I hear too. Perhaps this is the first of many adventures of your own Hinata-san" she winked "and you can call me Sumiko if you prefer. Distinguished makes me sound old though, I'm still very young! If I wasn't a exceptional student I don't think I'd be many years out of my gempukku."

Ichitaiyo barked a full on laugh at that and let go of the hand, leaving the Scorpion off the hook. As she kept laughing she gestured towards the stall tender to serve the flavor, as she tried to wrangle in her sense of humor.

"Wow! Okay. Sure! Just.. ask if you want a taste of Dragon."

Kotori wanted nothing more to disappear into the crowd, to vanish in the blink of an eye and never be seen again - debating between disappearing to the wilderness or straight to the shuttle off planet.

"I-I'll stick with Yuzu..." she muttered, embarrassed. First it was inside jokes with Ochiba now tasting Dragons. it was just going rapidly downhill. Kotori's gaze flicked to the sky as if hoping the rain would fall or maybe a space ship?

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"Space is excess space!" Kanna retorted with a friendly laugh. This was a perfectly fine thing to disagree on. "I don't really enjoy flying, but I can see the appeal. I guess I am too partial to the earth under my feet, the breeze in the trees, and the sound of waves against the shore... and this planet has so much of all three!"

"But I do like the view from the observation decks on ships, so I will grant that I can agree with that."

"Climb into a small craft some time with a good pilot," Suh-Hyun replied with a small wink, "See if that doesn't change your mind. Think of it like an observation deck you can control."

"How many worlds have you visited? I'd imagine more than me. Possibly more than me, though I'd wager I've seen more. Of course it was just from orbit."

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

Kotori wanted nothing more to disappear into the crowd, to vanish in the blink of an eye and never be seen again - debating between disappearing to the wilderness or straight to the shuttle off planet.

"Oh I can certainly be adventurous Hinata-kun" she purred quietly before returning to a normal voice "and I do enjoy meeting new people. He procured the little ninja, shaking it as he showed Sumi to make a point. "And more Scorpions again. Your clan should probably stop muscling in on our territory." He chuckled, smiling all the while, even if the curve of his lips had taken on a subtly different appeal.

"I hope to meet many people in my career, whether it is in Scorpion or other clan's worlds. Plenty of mistakes to make on plenty places with plenty of different people." He removes the straw from his mouth, leaning into a wall as she winks at him,. "You're certainly exceptional Sumiko-chan. I don't think I'll every dispute that. I should get back to my little ward, make sure she doesn't drag me by the ear back to the stall. Before I go though..."

He leans in once again, yet he doesn't stop, closer, closer until his cologne is once again on her senses. His hand reaches out... and lifts her boba up, her straw against his lips as he takes a quick sip of her drink. Pulling away with an audible 'Ahh'

"Refreshing. Good choice Sumiko-chan. See you around neh?" He turned around to leave, wearing that same distracting smile he always wore.

[Tamori Kanna]

"Climb into a small craft some time with a good pilot," Suh-Hyun replied with a small wink, "See if that doesn't change your mind. Think of it like an observation deck you can control."

"How many worlds have you visited? I'd imagine more than me. Possibly more than me, though I'd wager I've seen more. Of course it was just from orbit."

"Only the planets within the Dragon borders. Not all of them either, but most! I really like this one though... Green Carp is very nice, and I like the vibe of the kami here!"

She considered Suh-Hyun's suggestion. "There's an airplane service here... Itsuka Dokomademo? I heard good things about it. Maybe we should check it out sometime?"
