Taraka nods.

"Well so far at least. She hosted the Chamber of Commerce meeting at least once on the Dragon." she reveals.

She chuckled at the memory.

"Ah, you should've been there. Head magistrate Kuni Asataka showed up to keep an eye on things. And Yoritomo-sama is being a gracious hostess and offers forth a cup of sake in each hand and offers us drinks. And the old magistrate just looks her dead in the eye and orders a beer like he was at the bar." she recollected.

She grinned.

"A lesser hostess might've let that bother them, but she handled it gracefully, and Kuni-sama got his beer."

Akiro blinked, but then he chuckled softly at the story. "Well. Good for him, I suppose. And for her, dealing with him ably."

He gave a slight shrug. "Really, I've no objection to interclan cooperation. After all, I've benefitted from it enough. And I support the Governor's endeavor, even if it does seem that there are those who don't. Politicks, I suppose..." Grimacing, he waved his hand.

Then he frowned. "I suppose I'm also thinking of the Yoritomo of being those rough marines that I've heard so much about. Not entirely fair, any more that I surprised the Crane by not being a six foot tall wall of muscle." He cracked a smile. "Surprised and disappointed, I think, at least in a few cases."

Taraka shook her head.

"Now that's just them being lazy with their stereotyping." she said. "If you were Hida Akiro sure, but as Hiruma Akiro, you're supposed to move without making a sound, speak not above a whisper and look sullen and grim."

She fished about in her purse for her wallet to pay for her purchase.

"I can't speak for the stealth part, but you don't seem sullen and grim enough. Maybe we should find some really sad music to listen to in your downtime?" she teased.

Seeing her reach into her purse reminded Akiro of his own purchase. A few steps took him to the shelf with the kintsugi vase, carefully picking it up. "Downtime? I've got little enough of that. But maybe I can get an earbud, listen to really depressing stuff in it next staff meeting." Smiling just a little, he reached up to tap his ear.

His expression returned to neutral... no, a bit more positive than when he came in. "But perhaps I can stop by your shop sometime, whether or not I make it to your party. Perhaps I'll enjoy drone piloting more than I think. Or you could demo your saddest music for me."

Akiro laughed; it was a short laugh, but that seemed to be his way. "Oh, good. I've been told I'm rather straightforward. Perhaps some mystique would do me good."

He brought his gift to the front, to pay and have it wrapped. "Until next time, then, Yasuki-san?"
