[Day 1, MM] It Was a Dark and Stormy Breakfast

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

It was raining. The Detective didn't care for it and Kiyoshi preferred a dry monkey to a wet one. So, they found a public veranda adjacent to the garden and ordered a late breakfast. Fresh assorted fruit, a selection of onigiri, rice and vegetables, tamagoyaki, grilled fish, and more. It was far more than the pair could eat on their own.

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Bayushi Kazushi makes his way down for breakfast, as well, accompanied by Kurumi and Katsumi.


Katsumi can't help but glance in Kiyoshi's direction. "Is that...? No, it couldn't be," she whispers to her twin.


Kurumi nods. "Miya-sama said she saw him arrive yesterday, after all."

Kazushi, for his part, says nothing, but offers a respectful bow to the Fox actor.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

He returned a deep bow. "Good morning Bayushi-sama. Have you eaten rice today?"

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"I'm just about to," Kazushi replies, trying to hide any signs of being star-struck. "I am Bayushi Kazushi of the Orchid Department, and am honored to make your acquaintance."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Kitsune Kiyoshi. There is plenty of room, if you would care to join the Derective and I."

The monkey grabbed a mango and leaped inti the Fox's shoulder.

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"Um...indeed," replies Kazushi as he hesitantly takes a seat at the table, watching 'the Detective' carefully. "I'd hoped that this visit would have a calmer start, but it seems there are storms even in paradise."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Unfortunately." He nodded. "But, I suppose any paradise must come with a cost. Hopefully, it isn't a very long one."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"Have you been here before? It's my first time - my first extended trip away from Rokugan, to be honest," admits Kazushi.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

He shook his head. "No. We've traveled all over, mostly to Minor Clan holdings, but we haven't spent much time in Crab space. The Fox suggested I visit here after I left the World of Dreams."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"The notorious World of Dreams," Kazushi says, nodding. "I got routed there to pick up a kohai, and I must admit, what I saw of it is impressive. This world must seem so quiet in comparison to one who's grown accustomed to that kind of environment."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I've found that every world has some excitement." He shrugged. "But, I spent a lot of time at the wildlife sanctuary while we were on the World of Dreams. Now being on a world so lush with nature is exciting in itself."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Kazushi raises an eyebrow, then nods as he realizes - oh yes, he is a Fox, after all.

"I'm afraid I'm not one for the great outdoors, myself," Kazushi says with a touch of (probably insincere) regret. "The styles I tend to work with are designed for city life, and would be impractical elsewhere. Although...I think you wore one of my designs, I think in the third-to-last Souta and the Detective episode?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"Really?" He thought about it for a moment. "Spirits of the Steel Jungle.... That was a nice design. I really liked it."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Kazushi nods. "That's the one. I tried to blend the styles from our Udekiki and Tachimawari lines to give it a bit of an 'action' feel. One of my earlier efforts, and I'm afraid not up to the standards I currently set for myself. I'm glad to hear you liked it, though."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"It suited the show well." he shrugged. "Souta and the Detective was a bit different than its predecessors. The studio wanted to appeal to the aging audience with more action and drama. We experimented with different settings and approaches. Different styles."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Kazushi nods. "Everything must change with the times," he says. "Still, some things persist. I take it you're on tour at the moment?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"We are." he nodded. "We are on a bit of a break before starting the next leg. It's a good opportunity to consider a few things. Are you here on vacation Bayushi-sama?"

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"I'm afraid not - it's a business trip for me, although I must admit I'm enjoying the planet so far," Kazushi replies. "I received an invitation from the governor to this little gathering of hers."
