Day 9 EA: Complementary lunch

[Miya Kisha]

"That would be an issue of the parade route, wouldn't it?" Kisha asks. "Depending on the route, it could be a matter of a simple distance-keeping protocol, couldn't it?"

[Kakita Haruhi]

She nodded to Haruhi

''Kakita-san would be in charge of the drone programming to make sure several are linked to one another but we also need talented pilots to help craft and perform the routines...which is why I asked for you both Shinjo and Utaku-san.''

"I have experience programming multiple avi-drones to perform extended pre-programmed choreography as part of my dance routines. For this scenario, I think you want two sets of choregraphy programmed - one set that has the 3 drones fully synced - one person triggers the routine and all three conduct exactly what was programmed in perfect sync in a stationary area. For example, at set points during the parade when performances are done in place for particularly high ranking onlookers. But, you also need to be able to control them individually and react much faster for when the parade is moving. Then, it is more like drone piloting. You are keeping it in place, moving with the crowd, reacting to the crowd. I can program some short bits that work in that context, but pilots are primarily handling that forward movement."

"Does that sound good?"

"Also, Kakita-san," Kisha puts in, "there's something else I might need to talk to you about for a minute afterward, if that's okay?"

"Of course, Miya-sama. I am at your disposal."

''The more the better I'd say! Both drones and performances! But I am no expert on this so I'll let all y'all have the final say on what you feel comfortable with.''

Kisha nods, as well.

"That really sounds neat," she says. "Other than promoting it, what can I do to help?"

[Utaku Itsuka]

"Hm. So we'll be moving them forward individually, keeping them aligned and steady, but the choreography itself is fully programmed? That doesn't sound too hard, actually. Unless we need to move more than one set of drones each - that would be trickier, but eventually possible."

She looks at Haruhi. "So for the choreographies we won't have to be directly involved?"

Her voice and expression is flat. Maybe she's even slightly frustrated at that?

"We have several options. We can certainly program a fully choreographed stationary routine, where you hit 'go' and the drones do their thing, fully coordinated."

"We can also program shorter drone events. A light flashing sequence that lasts a couple seconds. Or a movement that lasts a couple seconds. You could have a menu of those to improv with as the drones are moving. So not just piloting directionally but adding in flavor as they go. And reacting to the crowd."

"If you wanted to do a routine that was a kind of handler trio with each person piloting one, and dancing them together, you could practice that, take advantage of the short sequences, and do that."

"It's up to you all how to proceed. I'll program to support all the options I've mentioned."

[Miya Kisha]

"I think the lights would be a distraction, myself," Kisha puts in. "The point is for them to carry the lanterns; their own lights would diminish that, I think. The dancing is a good idea, though, and the overall preprogram. Like, 'here's the parade route, follow it with this spacing,' with some ability to pause and do the little dance?"

[Utaku Itsuka]

"I really like the idea of them carrying the lanterns. Might make it a bit trickier to pilot, but we should be able to manage it" she looks at Suh-Hyun "ne?"

The choreography itself... I imagine Kakita-san is probably more knowledgeable in that regard. We can improv a bit where needed, maybe some daring moves here and there, but from what I understand we'll mostly be the eyes and hands making possible your view for the show, ne, Kakita-san?

"I spoke with Tamori Kanna," Kisha says at a convenient moment. "She was wondering if you would be able to join the celebratory dancing in itself. I said I'd convey the message to you, and I'd be a poor shisha not to deliver a message, after all."

She smiles. "If you can't, that's fine, but I liked seeing you dance, so I figured other people might, too."

"I would be happy to. I enjoy dancing, and I am always glad to perform. This is part of the festival?"

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha nods.

"Tamori-san will have details," she says, "but that is what I understand."

She smiles.

"Like I said, I will be glad to see it."
