Taraka considered that.

"Hmmm, I mean if it's your first batch I can understand wanting to make sure they work but for the size of the event...." she pondered.

"Well, maybe you can try for multiple types. If you make as many as you can, you can then assess which are probably going to work and which you don't think will. Then you just space them out based on how many you end up with. If you've got lots of workable ones, you can fire them off relatively quickly, if you end up with few, you just space them out more." she suggested.

[Kaiu Nagisa]

The Kaiu nods, taking in the advice. “I think I’m going to make one test warimono just to see if I understand fully how to space things inside the shell. After that I’ll decide if I’m skilled enough to try one of the more complex patterns.”

Taraka nodded.

"Sounds like a solid plan, Kaiu-san." she agreed. "Maybe you'll find that you have a hidden talent for it and can expand your business interests. Though cars and fireworks don't normally go together....that you can at least vouch for."

[Kaiu Nagisa]

“Mmm… It doesn’t have to be a business venture but maybe something I can do as a service to the community?” The Kaiu rubs at her chin thoughtfully as she smiles. “I’m well off enough that the materials aren’t a problem for me. And it’s the least I can do.”

Taraka shrugged.

"Service to the community is good for business too. I mean, you offer quality service, fair pricing, and friendly conversation. But it's not bad for people to also see you as a pillar of the community, lest someone tries to undercut your shop's prices to steal clients." she offers.

[Kaiu Nagisa]

“Pillar of the community, huh?” Nagisa pauses as she’s browsing the aisle, taking a moment to think about that idea. That title. “Honestly, I think that’s a nice goal to work towards. It sounds nice but also not pretentious.”

Taraka considered that.

"Ah. I suppose I do have an advantage on you on that goal, Kaiu-san. Having a shop on Golden Shotengai, our businesses do form a little community within Nakahama. Seeing each other every day, working alongside each other, it's not uncommon to help each other out from time to time. I've done demonstrations at Jimen Tori tea, filled out tournament brackets at Player Station Plus, we've even got this little cross promotion planned for bon festival with Feather Your Nest." she remarked.

She looked over at one of the sale tables.

"Not that you should be on golden shotengai. Your workspace needs a bit more room for what it does. But maybe we could work more often with you under the Chamber of Commerce banner. For example, at the start of the gathering, we had a raffle going. We included various prizes not just from golden shotengai, but other places of interest like Crabkaku. We didn't reach out to you for a prize because...well...auto-repair isn't exactly a traditional tourist hot spot. Still, we could have included a sticker for your shop."

She shrugged.

"If you'd be interested, that is. Being a sort of 'honorary' member of the golden shotengai community."

[Kaiu Nagisa]

“Mmm… My shop location is for the ease of access for those that live here to receive service. If a car is unable to start, it’s easier to have it brought to my shop if it’s close enough to where my clientele live.”

Still… It would be nice to be included. “Hmmm… Honorary membership? That does sound nice. Is there anything I have to do?”

Taraka shook her head.

"Not really. I can let the others know, and make sure you're included in the newsletter. Swing by golden shotengai when you've got the time to spare and if you see someone needing help, offer to help. I'm sure as someone as mechanically inclined as you can notice problems before they become really big problems, whether is someone's getting overdue for maintenance on their delivery vehicle or someone's AC is fritzing out."

She shrugged.

"Not asking for you to be our free on call tech, but not everything needs to be transactional, ne? Help out where you can and you'll get help when you need it in return."

“General maintenance stuff is something I offered to help Yasuki Honoka-sama a handful of days ago. So it should be no problem for me.”

A smile as the Kaiu glances over the Yasuki woman. “Offering aid doesn’t have to be a transaction.”

Taraka chuckled.

"You use that word like I send you an invoice every time I say good morning to you, Kaiu-san." she teased. "I know that if it were up to you, all of your shop's services would be free of charge, because you both love repairing vehicles and helping people out. But I know your parts suppliers don't ship you parts because that's what they love doing, nor does the restaurant feed you because you should be fed. So try not to think too badly of me when I consider the value of your time, Kuni-san. I'm not your lord to order you to do something out of Duty. I'm simply acknowledging and respecting that when you give your time freely, that's time you could instead be making sure your Duties are tended to, and I appreciate the sacrifice."
