Tezutsu-Hanabi

Upon arriving at the beach, visitors may notice a makeshift stage. This is where the first phase of the of the show begins.

The first part of the pyrotechnic display involves the tezutsu-hanabi. Those bold enough to participate in the show wield these bamboo tubes wrapped tightly with rope, which are essentially a sparkler cannon. They come in two sizes: small enough to be held up with a single hand and large enough to require two hands to control. The large sizes comes in two varieties, ones that only spew sparks from the top and ones that spew from both the top and bottom.

Brave volunteers are brought up to the stage to show off their endurance.



Optional Participation
Those that wish to take part in the show choose between the two sizes. The smaller tezutsu-hanabi do not require a roll. Those bold enough to lift the larger variety roll Athletics/Stamina TN 15 to both withstand the hot sparks for the duration of the show and to contend with the weight of the object. Those that are particularly courageous may take the double-sided version, rolling Athletics/Stamina TN 20 instead. Those that fail are able to hand their tezutsu-hanabi to an eager volunteer with no loss of face.

Down the beach further…

While people enjoy the display on the stage, the main show is being prepared. Fireworks launchers are being set up to launch the iconic warimono spheres into the air for the big display all of the island will be able to see.

Kisha, having helped the parade arrive, makes her way up to the stage. Someone hands her a lit sparkler-cannon, and she tries to hold it. Oh! she tries! But she is surprised by a spark that manages to get down the front of her clothing--who wouldn't be?--and very nearly drops the thing as she reflexively moves to pat the thing out.

Of course she would participate, and eagerly Kanna went for the BIGGEST!

This would be just like Tamori-training all over again. Hopefully with less accidents and burns.

But by golly, the short woman muscled that double-firework barrel. Was this the true power of Tamori Kanna?!

Of course she wanted to join in on every part of the display!

Having made the damn things, Nagisa also grabs one of the double-sided tezutsu-hanabi and joins in on the show. Taking a sturdy stance, she holds it up to spew the sparks above her. When the time comes, she opens the back side to flip it over her shoulder.

Her lover had worked terribly hard under the sun to get these made, might as well join into the fireworks to show her commitment to sharing interests!

It.. was way heavier than she expected and once it began to fire, she held on for dear kami she didn't lose it and humilliate herself in front of Nagisa. She scrunched and puffed, but after long enough, the fireworks died down.

That wasn't too bad, she thought to herself smugly after it was kinda was that bad to her.
