D6 MA Expecting - Pony Express Lunch Delivery!

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

With her morning routine done, Suh-Hyun had stopped to grab to lunch boxes to go and zipped on down to her kin's business. Climbing off her sports bike, she picked up her little bundle of food and made her way down to the offices.

"Hello! Utaku-san!" She brazenly walked into the store, "I've brought you something to eat! And no you can't refuse!"

[Utaku Itsuka]

The Utaku's head appears at the door to the pier, for a moment as if floating from the side of the doorjamb. She nods, and the Shinjo may see a weak smile growing on her lips.

"Oh. Oh? Shinjo-san, you didn't..."

A clank, the head disappears for a moment, she hears some more sounds of metal scraping against metal, then another clank. "I'll trust you with the rest, Seito-san! Tell Akari-chan I'll get something for y'all... or just use the voucher on the top drawer, just ring me if you do", her voice sounds from inside - still rather flat, but at the same time somehow almost motherly.

She then finally shows up properly on the doorframe, bows to the Shinjo, that weak smile still on her lips.

"Well, you did say I can't, so I won't refuse it. Thanks, Shinjo-san." She eyes the package curiously. "What did you get, then? Any favourite places in the island yet? Or... training for this rumoured 'Jade Chef' rehash some have been talking about?"

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"It's not reheated and reconstituted rations if that is what you are asking," Suh-Hyun's limits of cooking at least partly revealed. "But its also not fancy, just a simple pair of bento boxes. Mixed vegetables, rice, a little spicy meat that I am told is from a local critter. And uh...crab, these Crab do like to stay on theme."

In contrast her fellow Unicorn, Suh-Hyun was smiling with a clearly pleased with herself look. "How are you feeling Utaku-san? And uh sorry for not bringing more for your staff." Her smile waivered a little marred by embarrassment.

[Utaku Itsuka]

The Utaku nodded again, the smile slightly larger now - which, all things considered, was a clear show of warmness for Itsuka.

"No apologies needed, Shinjo-san, please. I'm sure they'll be fine having lunch by themselves today. And they'll be busy with some work on the String for a while, it wouldnt do to keep you waiting , ne?"

She then looks at the bento box, with clear interest. "And that does sound good! Local critter... " she seems thoughtful for a while. "Huh, and not seafood? Not... lizard, by any chance? I've heard there was a recent catch."

She gestures to a table at one side of the lobby. "Here, let me tidy us a bit and get us some tableware and chopsticks! What do you drink?"

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"It might be," Suh-Hyun sniffed the meat, "But we are nothing if not adventurous." She mused.

"If it's lizard then I don't think it's the one that attack the Onsen. Not that I would know what that thing looks like cooked." Her eyes followed the Utaku, "Anything I can help with? Oh and water's fine! If you were planning on anything harder, remember I have to drive back to the embassy."

"Do you live here as well?"

[Utaku Itsuka]

"Oh, that's right, the news did say Unicorn visitors were among those who helped the folks at the Onsen. Was that you, then? And... Moto-san as well? There weren't any others of us here, were there?"

She grabs a couple glasses of water, and within a moment the table is properly set, two glasses of waster waiting for them. She then goes inside for a bit, then brings back a saucer with a few of what looks at first like small, intricately shaped cakes. The Shinjo will probably not take long to recognise them - decorated aaruul. She may notice small different patterns, probably indicating different types.

"Those are... blueberries, yuzu, and... oh, buckthorn jam, I got some of those with the last shipping! I'm hoping to get some made from local ingredients, but... I guess I'll have to learn how to make them myself for that", she says, her flat tone sounding almost apologetical at the end. "Let's eat", she says, placing the saucer on the table, then waiting for Suh-Hyun to take a seat first.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"Unfortunately some people died before we could stop it," Suh-Hyun frowned at that, seemingly more concerned with the casualties then the victory. "But yes we contained and killed it."

She smiled at the aaruul, "Did you make them or is their a sweets shop I need to visit on the island?" In turn Suh-Hyun pushed over one of the boxes, "They're both the same."

Taking her seat she waited for the host to take the first bite. "This is a beautiful island, I mean I still prefer the cold void above, but this wouldn't be the worst place to be stranded for a spacer. I feel kind of nervous though, its been more a vacation then work. I was sure an Ide was coming with me."

[Utaku Itsuka]

She nodded with acknowledgment at that. "Well. Can't say it'd be the first lizard incident here. Anyone thought anything strange of it?"

She then accepted the box, opened it, laid the cover to the side, clapped her hands and waited for the Shinjo to do the same, then: "Thank you for the meal, let's enjoy!".

She points to the aaruul only after she's done chewing a first bite. "I'm afraid the sweets shop would be here", she says shaking her head slightly. "I order shipments every now and then, mostly for us, but I order extra for the eventual interested customer." A wan smile grows slightly on her blank face ".... and friends, of course."

Another bite, a thoughtful look at the sweets. "I... don't have much to remind me of home, I suppose. But this is one thing I could never shake off. I guess it's high time I learnt how to properly make them myself..."

She then looks up at Suh-Hyun's face. "It's not necessarily bad that you feel on vacation, is it, Shinjo-san." The words are said simply, no judgment or suggestion obviously implied. "I suppose the clan thought us able enough to deal with things here?". More wondering than an actual question. "Or maybe they aren't that worried about Shiawase", she adds, again wondering, not quite thinking before speaking. "But we do have some plans to work on, ne? Tacchan said she's working on some paperwork for planes... but that'd take a while. Depending on the results that might be something for the future. But for now... that drone race can still happen. Far from the same thing, but..."

She looks towards the pier. "Can't recall if I asked. Do you also pilot boats, Shinjo-san?"

Suh-Hyun munches on one of the aaruul and looks out at the pier, following the Utaku's own gaze. "Boats? Utaku-san there aren't many boats in New Hope Castle. Or Open Hand for that matter. I haven't checked the Castle of the Winds, but I wouldn't be surprised if your family had piloted boats just to incase the Unicorn needed a submarine attack squad."

She sets the half eaten sweet down and crosses her arms, "But I can fly or drive just about anything, how hard could a boat be. It's not like I have to trim the sails or yell at the wind kami in the hopes they get things moving. Just operate a steering wheel and throttle right?"

Picking her sweet back up she finishes it, "I suspect the air race is more a next year thing," Suh-Hyun nervously chuckles, "We ah don't have many pilots around if the drone fights are any indication. Also, Tacchan? Do you mean Yasuki Taraka-san?"

"As for aaruul, I'm not much of a cook myself but my mother used to make aaruul when I was smaller. I can see if she will share the recipe for hers if you like? I'm sure I will have to swear you to secrecy though." The Shinjo gave a little wink.

She actually chuckles slightly at Suh-Hyun's comments on boats. "Well... yeah, mostly steering and throttling, at least for boats like the String and the Double. Just... the sea behaves differently from the sky. But I'm sure you'll learn fast!"

"I did learn to deal with sails, though, but we never got one of those for the Wherever. Maybe we should!", she says before picking up one of the aaruul as well.

A bite, and she winks back at Suh-Hyun. "This Utaku would never betray your mother's confidence, Shinjo-san". The sweet is consumed in another bite, and she looks at her again, a weak grin trying to gain ground on her lips "...Think we could try a batch?"

"Ta... Yasuki Taraka-san..." she hesitates, but only for a moment. "Yes. We've known her and her family long, almost since we moved here. She's... a bit like a younger sister. But... yeah, it'd take a while. Maybe you can fit the Green Carp back in your schedule when it finally happens?"

She looks outside "For now, though... apparently the paperwork for boats and drones is considerably easier. And I do think both could draw a good deal of attention, with the right plans." A look outside. "... want to find out just how different from the sky it is, Shinjo-san? We could brainstorm plans while at it."

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

Suh-Hyun sighed, "Sadly I don't have any with me, but I'm sure she would make them and send some along with the recipe." She laughed, "If you want me to try and make them, well how daring are you Itsuka-san?"

"And yeah, we can try again if I can get back out here but," She rubbed the back of her head and her smile grew more embarrassed."

"Well truth be told I was only sent on this duty because the fighter I was testing suffered catastrophic failure," She laughs nervously, "Not my fault, the engineers missed something in their simulations, but they are working on correcting the issue on the other prototypes."

Suh-Hyun took a bite and nonchalantly added, "That was my second closest brush with death. Had to regain control of the breaking up plane long enough to not eject full speed into an asteroid." She took another bite, "This meat isn't bad, I am kinda of saddened that Unicorn spicy and Crab spicy are too entirely different things though."

She takes a bite, slowly savours it. "Hm... yes, it's definitely different. Less varied spices, too. But... it isn't bad! Just feels like it could be more out there..."

She then raises her head. "I'll have to hope a third one won't be coming soon, Shinjo-san.... so that you can visit a friend at some point, ne?"

No clear smile this time, the words are said almost matter-of-factly... but besides the word, her voice makes the warmness quite obvious.

"It... I... hadn't been really close to much anyone in the clan for a long time now." The contrast with that moment is not stated, but not hard to imply.

"Hm. So... a day to make aaruul, improve a Crab dish with some more spices and discuss the boat race... and maybe other possibilities for the island, since that's where the Ide put us? Is that what it's gon be?", she says, again rather matter-of-factly, then taking a sip of water. "If you'll find the time, of course, I imagine your days here must have been rather hectic, ne?"

"I would say you are one of two people I would make the time for Itsuka-san," Suh-Hyun smiled and took another bite, "I'll send a message home tonight and maybe the recipe will be here in a day or two."

"I wouldn't worry about my brushes with death, comes with the job," She grins, "But I am still alive so far and plan to be for the future."

She blinks and then snaps her fingers, "Hey want to join me in the race they are having in about two days? I could use a good navigator and who can beat two Unicorns when speed is required?"

Another sympathetic smile and Suh-Hyun reaches over to place a reassuring hand on her friend's arm, "We are all family Itsuka-san, even though you live among the Crab here, you still have brothers and sisters out there."

[Utaku Itsuka]

"I would say you are one of two people I would make the time for Itsuka-san," Suh-Hyun smiled and took another bite, "I'll send a message home tonight and maybe the recipe will be here in a day or two."

"I wouldn't worry about my brushes with death, comes with the job," She grins, "But I am still alive so far and plan to be for the future."

She blinks and then snaps her fingers, "Hey want to join me in the race they are having in about two days? I could use a good navigator and who can beat two Unicorns when speed is required?"

Another sympathetic smile and Suh-Hyun reaches over to place a reassuring hand on her friend's arm, "We are all family Itsuka-san, even though you live among the Crab here, you still have brothers and sisters out there."

The flame that sometimes appears in her eyes shows up again, although it seems a bit different now. Less daring' more cozy.... a hearth rather than a wildfire?

"I'll look forward to it then, Shinjo-san! Let me know and I'll do the groceries."

The wildfire is soon back, though. "Oh, I was planning on joining the race - now I'm twice as fired up about it!Anyone else we should call to join the team, you think?"

Suh-hyun's gesture is received with Itsuka's own hand unconsciously reaching for the Shinjo's. Her head lowers, her other hand covering her eyes. "... thanks", she say, her voice breaking.

She lifts her face, slightly reddened eyes meet the Shinjo's for a moment. She nods, then repeats, "... thank you so much, Shinjo-san. Thank you for reminding me of this. Let's take good care of family, hm?" She gives an encouraging nod. "And please remember your family in Crab space when you need anything."

Suh-Hyun took the hand and gave a gentle squeeze, "I won't forgot family here or anywhere."

After a moments silence she continued, returning her food. "Well I think Yoritomo Yakura is wanting to help acquire a car, so we may have to encourage some bad habits in other folks." She laughed, "After all everyone will want to play at the 'Winner's' table in her casino after we sail through the finish line!"
