Nakahama

After cleaning up up the fish market, Kiyoshi and the Detective came to view the island from Mount Nakahama. To be more specific, they had come to the viewing platform. Once they had reached the platform, the Fox took a few moments to rest and refocus his spirit.

Once he was prepared, he attempted to summon an animal spirit to speak with regarding the island. At first, none came and he wondered if the proximity to the volcano was an issue. But, he tried again...

It took some time, but a spirit answered. It was no ghost, of course, but jimen tori had their own spirits here.



"'ello, guv." It greeted him.

"Hello my friend." he greeted the bird. "I have been looking for the special place with lots of fish. I've met some of your kind who can not find the way."

"Ah, the Special Place." The spirit sighed. "It lies below, but the way has been lost, and what was a great bounty is now only a trickle. The spirits of the earth are ornery buggers. They don't often move, but when they do, whoosh! And then you can't get them to move again." The spirit bobbed its head.

"So it is here?" He pointed to the volcano. "Where would the earth kami need to move?"

"It's down unda." The bird spirit said. "The spirits of water and fire meet, and then the spirits of water retreat, made happy and warm and full of life. Until the spirits of the earth blocked the way to them, at least to my Flock. If they were to move again, perhaps all would be well, and the Special Place could be found again."

Spirits didn't always talk in clear ways.

"I see. Are there other special places?"

"Is the Special Place still there, within the fire and earth?" He asked. Holding up a Mount Nakahama plushie, he also asked, "Can you show me the way to it?"
