In memory of Joanne Rae Kwan

Early this year, we saw the loss of Joanne Rae Kwan, a fantastic artist. She was responsible for many of the arts used in Asakaze (Banner 3) and Shadows (Banner 4), as well as a good portion of other commissioned art used in the Fallenash community for the better part of nearly 10 years. This does not include only me, but other members of the FA community who have commissioned her in the past. While she had never set foot in a Fallenash game, she very much coloured the community with her presence, both her style and talents.

I had first discovered Joanne in Deviantart under the name 'Cantonkid', then later on her Tumblr page. Our interactions were limited, but I knew that she was an accomplished comic illustrator and writer. I knew her as a staunch part of the LGBTQ community, often with her own works highlighting romances in those spectrums.

She will be deeply missed. Please feel free to share any words or art she might have done in the past. Any silent appreciation is also welcome too, of course.

The loss of Joanne was hard. She was young and had an amazing career ahead of her as an illustrator. I always enjoyed communicating with her for commissions.

I don't get to commission art much, but I've enjoyed seeing her work and was shocked to hear of her passing (so young!). I'm really glad to see her remembered for all the images that have been running around this community.

Here are the two pieces of art I had commissioned for previous Banner games. Boogie has already said as much, but I think it worth repeating: Joanne Rae Kwan was basically a fixture in the Banner universe whose talents provided some extra life to the whole setting. She will be missed.

Late to this, but Joanne was actually the only artist from whom I've ever commissioned a character piece (a favorite Togashi character), which makes it particularly special to me. That was ages ago, and I really enjoyed checking in now and then to see her style developing and how much she was continuing to grow as an artist. Learning she had passed so suddenly and so young was really gutting.

JRK, thank you for all the lovely visions, and may your memory always be a blessing.
