Welcome to the fifth game in the Banner of the Star series. In 'Nakahama', this will be a game where our player characters have been invited to a gathering organized by the Governor and her staff to find a suitable investment partner in hopes of driving up commerce in the province.
There is an admittedly competitive nature in this game. However, we ask everyone to remember that we're all here to take this as an opportunity to participate in cooperative storytelling, rather than focus entirely on the competitive elements. By how the game is organized and narratively, there will be only one sure winner in this game, with a lesser contract awarded to a secondary partner. However, purpose and incentive in the game should be found in building character relationships, role-playing your character, and finding small personal victories outside of just ultimately winning the metagame. The offer presented by the Tango Province is appealing to many Clans, but the stakes are admittedly low. Failure here will only mean the other Clans will have to find opportunity elsewhere. In a world such as the Green Carp, the one presented here is just one of many ventures available. Back to the point, if you can only find satisfaction in 'winning' the metagame, it is likely best to step back from the game and reevaluate your priorities. Our intent here is to tell stories and present a stage where stories are told.
We also ask to respect boundaries when it comes to potentially heated elements such as rivalries, antagonism, flirtation, and romance. Please remember consent and integrity when involving these elements, which is only made possible by open communication rather than assumptions. Please check with the other players outside of character and work out permissions to move the relationship in that direction, as well as intent and potential outcomes in cooperative storytelling. If an agreement cannot be reached, it is perhaps best to part ways and move on. Out-of-character antagonism will not be tolerated.
In all things, please maintain a PG-13 consideration in all scenes, as this forum can be accessed by other players in spaces such as at home with families or at work with co-workers.
We are all here to have fun, please be considerate to each other. This is non-negotiable.
Please remember that we are a team of two GMs, while we do are best to be as attentive as possible, there may be things that are beyond our limits as our time is limited. Consider consulting either the search function or your fellow players before involving a GM for help. We apologize in advance if something is missed and if there are certain requests we cannot follow through on.
Once we move towards accepting character sheets for the game, we will focus on answering questions on this board solely, both because the boards will have most of our attention and for everyone's records. To ask a general question, post it in the GM Question and Requests forum.
There may be some rulings made during the course of the game. Please check the Rulings forum for updates.
