[Day 7 - Early Afternoon] RP Thread: Tsuneo's Shiro

[Yasuki Taraka]

''Ooooh, okay. That makes senses.'' she gave a nod ''But then again, what is it that you do Yasuki-sama?''

Taraka looks over at the Moto curiously.

"Oh? Did you miss, Miya-san's segment on our store a couple days back? Shame, really love her energy and she does keep the hope of the people aloft." she said with a smile to the Miya.

"I manage Flying Battle Carps, my family's business. They're civilian grade drones that are used in a sort of aeriel duel competition where you try to cut your opponent's banner off while keeping yours intact. It's got it's roots in combat kite flying and is meant to bring to mind wandering duelists of old and the back banner of a samurai on the battlefield." she explained.

She took a moment to drink.

"We've got a league competition going right now where you can challenge other pilots for ranking to compete for some unique plushies we've lined up for the winner. Having personally dueled almost everyone on the league board, I have to say that Shinjo Suh-Hyun and Utaku Itsuka are some of the best pilots I've had the pleasure of facing, though they're probably coming to come in second to Bayushi Senshuken. Girl's got moves, and she's been relentless in seeking out opponents." she added.

She looked over to the Miya with a smile.

"Though Miya-san's got a lot of heart, if she could just find time away from being the best streamer on Green Carp to compete, I'm sure she'd be up there."

[Miya Kisha]

"That's all very nice of you to say about me," Kisha says. "Bayushi-san is a fierce competitor, though, and her control is just amazing! I'm looking forward to facing her again.

"But maybe after I practice a bit more. She really is good."

[Moto Shiwahime]

''I am sure she was great...'' she paused ''...but I don't spend much time on a screen and even when there is something I am interested in I listen haphazardly.'' She hoped Kisha wouldn't take it too badly ''I watched the last one though!''

But on the subject of battle carps she really dug the concept

''I'll admit that it sounds fuckin' cool...'' she frowned, something passing through her head ''...can lanterns be hung from the drones?''

Taraka considered the question.

"Hmmm, it's a possibility. The drone's motors are strong enough for it. There are a few things you'd have to take in to consideration. Usually we use very thin string for the banners, to make it so the rotors can slice through without major issue. You'd want something as lightweight as possible and not prone to bursting into flames if dropped from a great height." she decided. "But if you've got something in mind, and your opponent is ok with the change in the duel, I don't see it being a dealbreaker."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime gave a nod of understanding

''It was not for battling'' she clarified ''There is the Bon festival coming up and Yasuki Umiko-sama asked for help organising it. I was thinking that your drones could make for a good show at night!''

[Yasuki Taraka]

Taraka nodded.

"Oh definitely. I'd recommend getting some from the Battle Tested Veterans line. You won't need the most sensitive controls for that sort of work, and the night will conceal any cosmetic damage. And honestly, I think there's something poetic about flying the veterans for this. The spirits are gone, but we're still here, scars and all." she mused. "And well, you could buy four of them for the price of one Legend and for an impressive light show you'll want numbers."

[Miya Kisha]

"That would make for such good video; it's a good idea!" Kisha twitters. "I'll happily put my drone in, too!"

Taraka wondered if the Unicorn rented her clothes. Or the disposable chopsticks she used for her lunch.

"Well, we don't offer rentals per se, Moto-san. If we did that, local legal regulations would put us in the same category as renting motor vehicles. We'd have to take the same level of legal liability as someone potentially crashing a car. It's honestly a lot easier to simply sell them. That removes the burden of liability on us, just like any other purchase does. We do, however, offer to take back ones that are no longer wanted, as long as they've not been modified, again for legal reasons. We'd rather do that than see them end up in a landfill. Hence the battle tested veterans line, they've been out in the field, but they're still good to fly." she explained.

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha puts in.

"Drones aren't necessarily going to do the same amount of damage as a car or a bike," she says. "But they can still hurt a person pretty badly; they get going pretty quickly, and finding someone's head at speed isn't a happy thing for either side of it."

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime made a face. She understood the logic...but the price...the price could prove high for only one night.

''I'll see what can be managed. I'll need to gather pilots and programmers anyway before anything can be done anyway''

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha pops up.

"I had an idea!" she says. "I know, I know.

"But since this is for the official festivities," she continues, "perhaps the gubernatorial office could lease the drones for the event, including an indemnification waiver in the lease agreement. They'd need a certified pilot, probably, and programmers would need to slave the drones to a single control, but might that work?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

She gave a nod

''Yeah...that's a good idea.'' she turned to the crab ''Would that work for you Yasuki-sama?''

[Yasuki Taraka]

She nodded.

"If you're willing to handle getting the government to sign off on the legal stuff, agree to pay a fair price, and supply the programmers, we can certainly supply the drones. Battle tested veterans though. And we'll need someone to verify that any extraneous programming for slaving the drones is utterly scrubbed. We couldn't in good faith take back veterans that might still have a back door in them to allow someone to blatantly cheat in a duel by suddenly taking control of your opponent's carp." she agreed.

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha nods.

"I think we can take that to the governor's office, yeah," she says. "Might be a couple of days, though; do we want to go all together on [Day 9], or do you want to just send details and what wiggle-room you're good with, and I can see about getting in?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime smiled

''Wonderful. I'll try to have every dot settled.'' She mused on the timing ''I'll look for a programmer and ask my fellow unicorns for their piloting. The earlier the better but...the day after tomorrow is the most sensible.''

[Yasuki Taraka]

Taraka nodded.

"I'll make the time on my schedule." she said.

With a last loud SPLASH! the final contestant finished the course.

"Ah well, this was a pleasant afternoon, but I do have other business to attend to." she said.

She bowed to the pair.

"If you two will excuse me."

After goodbyes were made, she'd make her...

[Miya Kisha]

"Carry the Fortunes!" Kisha will call after Taraka.

"Well," she adds, looking at the standings and results, "it looks like you won, Moto-san! Congratulations!"

[Utaku Itsuka]

Suh-Hyun's smile turned into a grin at seeing the enthusiasm in the Utaku's expression, "Well obviously...but I am not very good at it." She bounces on her toes a bit, "Just have this raw talent to call on really." A little wink and another thumbs up this time to Itsuka.

"But shower and change way before that, grabbed a new bathing suit recently. A memento of my time here, well one of them."

"I'm no pro either, but judging by your athletic talent elsewhere... I want to see what you call not good!" The post-race enthusiasm apparently takes a rather longer time to die off.

After a moment, she reacts to something else she said. "Oh? Oh... oh! What is.... no, no! I'll see it in a couple hours, ne?"

She wonders if she had also got a Space Hero Pilot Captain Inu Shikoku-ken bathing suit... maybe Starlight Miko Crusaders? Although those were possibly too passé for her...

Then it dawns on her. "One of them? I..." she stops halfway through the sentence, holding back a budging grin on her lips. Suh-Hyun does seem to be happy, doesn't she?

"It... seems like Shiawase Island has grown on you some, Shinjo-san? I'm glad to hear it, if so", she says with a somewhat more contained, but still unusually warm smile.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

Suh-Hyun laughed softly, "Natural ability can only carry one so far, Itsuka-san. But there is a lot of strategy in oshidama. Strategy and butt smacking, but the later seems more tradition then a key component of the game."

Another soft laugh and her cheeks redden a fraction, "Itsuka-san, it's just a swimsuit. I mean I think it looks good on me but still." She rubs her chin, "And yes, one of them. I got so many pictures from people at Fancon in my SMC Horse costume. And well a few other things."

"It is nice here but..." Her smile slackens a fraction, "Well I am not someone who can just live on a planet. Even in a beautiful place such as this. The void above calls me back and eventually I must answer." She places a hand on the Utaku's shoulder, "But I have a few reasons to visit here again. You for a start!"
