[Party Informal Event, RP Thread] - Dress to Excess RP (Day 3 Mid-Evening, Harbourfront Penthouse)

"A crater lake with fish! That might be it! Oh goodness. That's worth a trip. Though there could be other pools. Thank you so much!"

"Ah... right. Party talk. I'm not the best at this. I really do enjoy talking about nature and birds. But maybe we can pivot and avoid being thought too nerdy for the party."

"How you are finding Nakahama so far? What has been your favorite activity or place or person?"

"Favorite place... that might be Mount Nakahama, so far." The bird's head wobbles ponderously from side to side--perhaps the human inside the suit is shrugging or tilting his head to the side. "A beautiful mountain. I'd like to climb Jinsei too. The water spirits of a volcanic crater lake are something special, in my experience. The heimin fishing town is very charming, too, in its way." Although maybe not in a Crane way, it occurs to him. "What about you, Kakita-san?"

[Kaiu Ryosei]

Ryo had thought about ignoring the party, he had been doing so for over a year at this point. But something in him told him to go, he could handle it, he could behave. It would be fun, what was he supposed to just never go to another party for the rest of his life? He couldn't hide from his problem forever. He would make an appearance and hang out for just a bit. He wouldn't however be making nay grand entrances or drawing attention to himself.

He had spent most of the previous night and a good chunk of today working on his costume. A lesser known manga superhero The Iron Jade, and his inventor alter ego Kaiu Toni, had always been his favorite for obvious reasons. Though certain chapters had some uncomfortable close parallels to his life at times. The Jade infused Steel armor was tough to approximate so quickly but he found if he set his fabricator to the right specs he had it together and even had enough time to add some lights and minor moving pieces. It wasn't the most wonderous thing that he built but it would likely turn a head or two.

Ryo milled about the party as he walked in seeing if he actually knew anyone (besides the hostess who totally wasn't the main reason he had decided to show up)

Said hostess spots the Kaiu and fires off a smile and a wink from over in the distance where she's greeting guests.. Well well, surprises surprises...and he'd brought some kind of combat suit? Way to any sensible woman's heart.

[Hiruma Akito]

"Best guess?" Suh-Hyun winked, "As much an Utaku as Crusader Unicorn is I suppose. To stay in theme."

Her grin became a smirk, "Oh I did. Look on the bright side, you caught my attention arriving late. As for the booze, well there's also a chocolate fountain. This whole party would make most Cranes faint. Loud, garish, and wild. A sort of dark mirror of those usual high society parties."

"Oho..." Behind the mask, Akito's eyes narrowed in appreciation. "Point to you. But you're a pilot, I'd wager just about anything on that."

The beat of the dance grew louder, and the two danced in a slow circle. Perhaps Suh-Hyun might liken it to a close arial dogfight. "That is a brightside." Akito said, smirking back.

"Chocolate fountain? Wow." Akito said. "To be honest, I'm not much for those high society parties. The dark mirror... well, I can't deny I'm enjoying some aspects." They continued to move, still close, still not touching. "But do those fit you? Loud, garish, wild? I feel they might not." Although Akito couldn't deny the Unicorn pilot's daring, not at all.

[Yasuki Ayame]

Senshuken laughs softly. She leans back against the bar, one boot hooked on the stool’s rung, the other stretched out like a dare.

Just then, the bartender slides two shot glasses between them, twin sparks of invitation and danger. Senshuken doesn't look away from the other woman even for a heartbeat.

“Mmh… a chase, is it?” She murmurs while her fingers curl around one of the glasses. “Then I suppose the real question is. Do you want to chase, Sniper san… or be chased?”

Her thumb traces the rim idly as she goes on.

“I can play either game. I don’t mind running if you’re good at pursuit.”

She pauses as she pushes the second glass across the counter with a fingertip, slow enough to draw the eye.

“But if it’s a long race you’re after… and we both play our cards right…” She leans in. “We might both end up crossing that finish line together. Loudly.”

She clinks her glass against the ronin’s, a sound sharp as a starting gun.

“So,” she adds. Her voice more of a purr edged with challenge. “What’s it going to be? Do I run… or do I chase?

The ronin gave a slow appreciative nod of her head when the glasses connected. She could blame the jumpsuits, but that was quite a pitch. Enough so that it managed to coax a blush out of her, despite her not wanting to acknowledge it. Game recognized game here.

She took the glass and shot it down without hesitation, slamming it on the bar to declare that she was done with it. "I think I can definitely chase. A sniper ronin hunts her game, and doesn't just wait for the opportunity to fall in her lap. Maybe gets opportunity to sit and behave first."

[Kuni Junpei]

A Kuni magistrate made an appearance at the penthouse party. He was dressed in a worn suit with an overcoat. Despite looking vaguely formal and potentially an investigator, this was not his costume but his actual clothes. No, this was actually a Clan magistrate, and he didn't look too pleased.

"Attention, everyone! This is Kuni Junpei, head Clan Magistrate of Shiawase Island. I'm looking for a Yoritomo Ochiba, of the Mantis Clan. Guest to the island and the lessor of this very property. Please forward," he would call out to the party as an official announcement.

He was followed by a yoriki as well, who did her part in getting the DJ to turn down the music for this visit.


Kuni Ayaka

"For me, I've been enjoying the Pink Lotus for dancing. The shopping in that district. Our trip to Namigashira Bay for bird watching where we found the Jimen Tori. The drone racing. Oh, and I'm rather fond of a spot on the harborfront."

Taraka had been listening attentively to her charming conversational partner. The topic of cultists was a concern that she'd address.....

And then the police rolled in.

The music was cut, the hostess was being called out.....


Aaaaand Kakita-san kept loudly talking to her new bird friend, heedless of it all.


And this was just one of the reasons she was really concerned about the Kakita going into the jungle.

She sipped her drink quietly, and waited to see how this played out.

He had waved back to the mantis and had considered approaching her. Aaaaaand then the police showed up he hesitated and gave Ochiba a concerned look before looking back at the magistrate and yoriko that showed up.

Hitomi peeks from underneath her hat, eyes wide, then shifts to let the hat hide her once more, drink being lifted up beneath. No reason to let perfectly good alcohol go to waste. "This hasn't even gotten that wild yet," she murmurs to her companion.

"Yooooo, Kuni-sama, you are of course more than welcome to attend our gathering."
Ochiba takes a moment to down a glass of the hard stuff before strolling over. It was hard to tell if she was irked or amused by the arrival of the fuzz.

"It is an honour a samurai of your station would deign to come himself." Bowing deeply. "And I appreciate you came in costume. Please, how might I assist you tonight? I'm pretty sure I haven't have committed any crimes that would require your personal attention? We were almost ready to crown the winner of our little celebration."

Jerking a thumb outside to the techs on the balcony.

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"Oho..." Behind the mask, Akito's eyes narrowed in appreciation. "Point to you. But you're a pilot, I'd wager just about anything on that."

Her smirk remained, "Everyone's a little wild sometime, even the Lion let their manes down...though probably not at a Mantis party." She chuckled, "But no, I'm pretty sensible most times. Apparently dressing up as a childhood favorite brings out the loud and garish and wild parts of me."

She was about to say more when the Magistrates walked in. Her little horse ears shot up, not that the Hiruma needed the extra visual queue to see the Unicorn snap alert. Suh-Hyun steps back and beside the Crab. With a small sigh she says quietly, "Maybe the mirror was darker then I thought."

“A hunt, then." She murmurs. “I always thought people found the bad girl attitude a little… alluring.”

She gives a small laugh and folds her hands neatly over her lap, as if to anchor herself. The always reckless racer suddenly looks like she is trying to behave, but the gleam in her eyes betrays that her mind plays a different game.

“I’ll try to behave, truly." She adds with a playfully earnest tone. “But I’ve never been very good at following the rules. Instructions though?"

Her eyes dip then lift slowly to meet the ronin’s gaze again. A spark of anticipation beneath all that composure.

"So… if behaving’s part of the game…” She pauses just long enough to build a moment of charged silence." You might have to teach me, Sniper san. Through reward? Through punishment? Who knows. But I promise I’m a fast learner.”

A faint smile ghosts over her lips as she leans in just enough to let the words linger between them. It's more of invitation than of a challenge, more of a dare than of a simple promise.

The Kuni didn't look particularly pleased or in a partying mood. Instead, he maintained a neutral and stoic expression over the proceedings. He would give a half-bow when the hostess approached.

"Ah, Yoritomo Ochiba-san. Thank you very much for coming forward and I pleased to make your acquaintance. No crime here, but certainly a violation," he said as he drew up a sheet of paper from his coat's inner pocket.

After unfolding it, he read the contents as if he were reading a judgment. "You, Yoritomo Ochiba of the Mantis Clan, lessor of Penthouse unit 1, 1 of 270 units in Seaside Oaks, located on Block 7-2 in Nakahama City...have been issued a noise violation by the city. In your signed agreement, you have only an early evening before noise curfews are in effect. There have been complaints issued that you have breached that limit with your gathering."

He turned to face the party as a whole. "Now that I'm here, I can confirm that you have, one, two, three..." he would actually go on to count everyone that he could see. "...ten guests here, that's not counting even the staff and those in other rooms at this present moment. Yoritomo-san, did you apply for a permit with the city before hosting an organized gathering this large, in a temporarily leased property? It would be unfortunate if I were called here to address one violation, only to find others."

Junpei would turn to face the Yoritomo again, waiting for her answer...

She gives a small laugh and folds her hands neatly over her lap, as if to anchor herself. The always reckless racer suddenly looks like she is trying to behave, but the gleam in her eyes betrays that her mind plays a different game.

The ronin leaned forward also to get a better listen to the racer's deliberate words, although her proximity was perhaps enough that she could angle a kiss if she so desired. She gave her something of a sly smirk as she seemed to consider her words and savour the air between them.

She rose from her seat and made a careful stroll so that she could stand behind her. Her hands would find their way to her shoulders with a gentle grip at first, but there was a little pressure applied with the digit of her fingers, almost like she was ready to give her a message. Or it was just a possessive hold.

Leaning closely so that she was beside her ear, she would softly breathe in her to ear, "Now, now, Kitten-sa..."

Then the music went out.

Ayame gave a bewildered blink and looked around to see the magistrate here!

"I'll handle this..." she murmured before stomping off to meet Junpei.

"Kuni-san, what's going on here?" she asked, demanding answers.

[Kuni Junpei]

"Ah, Yasuki-dono, good evening," Junpei would say before offering her a deep bow, seemingly unfazed at her blonde wig and her current outfit of choice. He would offer a very brief, very faint and polite smile before going serious again.

"I am here to address a reported complaint and noise violation by Yoritomo Ochiba-san in this leased property. In accordance with the agreement, clause 10, all lessors have agreed to the noise down. Starting from early evening, the noise level is expected to decrease slowly to maintain peace in this building. We are currently 9 decibels above the allowed norm. That will entail a fine. Kuni Ayaka-san, please prepare that bill."

"However, there is also an issue of needing a permit for a large gathering like this one. On a leased property. At this hour. In what looks like more than just a formal conference and meeting. I'm sure that Yoritomo-san here will produce the proper papers, and you can get right back to partying as usual, Yasuki-dono," he said before turning his attention to Ochiba with a momentary flash of widened eyes that say 'now, won't you?".

[Tamori Kanna]

The anglerfish disappeared into the murky depths of the sea. That was to say, she got lost in the gathering of people as the authorities were being sticks-in-the-mud...

Suh-Hyun watched the interaction between Magistrate and hostess in calm silence. She did a double take when she recognized the risque sniper approaching the Kuni.

"And the Governor here as well. This isn't going to be good." Her little horse ears whirled above her head, flicking to mimic her agitation.

Then they drooped as she sighed, her stoic demeanor disappearing into exhausted annoyance. "If they start interrogating people... remind me to turn the ears off."

Looking back at Fancy Formal wear, she added with a lopsided smile, "Shinjo Suh-Hyun by the way. Look me up sometime if this turns sour."
