Kaiu is absolutely stunned by the flash of radiant energy flashing through his head. There's a small gasp out of him, and he seemed to keep walking toward Ochiba with firm determination, perhaps calling some ancestral spirit to keep fighting past death. He did indeed manage to lift his tetsubo once more, maybe by muscle memory or sheer will of hate.
Then he drops.
Dead.

Ichitaiyo rubbed her forehead for a moment, to think about the paperwork to be done, to pull out everyone's asses scot-free from this. But priorities were first. She jogged over to Kanna and gave a once-over, checking her health. Hurt but nothing that a good rest and bandages would heal.
"Kanna, are you okay?"

Letting out a huge sigh of relief, Nagisa leans back in the driver’s seat, looking in the rear-view mirror at Akiro. “Hiruma-sama… How you holding up?”

Once she realized that it is finally over, Kanna sank down to her knees, heaving for breath for a few moments as adrenaline and survival instincts left her system, allowing the fear, horror, and consequences to sink into the bones. "He... he wanted to kill us as sport... he," she swallowsed, "he shot and killed Yasuki Kaito, Ichitaiyo."
Kanna doesn't quite cry, but she is clearly very shaken. "He broke Hiruma-san's legs so he couldn't walk!"

“…fucked up.”
Ochiba glances down at the corpse and then gives it a kick
“So, good kill? Otherwise I can… you know. Big boot, lotta cliffs on this island. No need for this asshole to hang around if we don’t need him too.”
Frowning at the traumatised samurai she shakes her head.
“Uhh. Well you guys seem to have rescued yourselves. So you had this prick shorted. Ichitaiyo and I just shortened things a bit.”

Even Ichitaiyo felt the crawl up her spine, but under the political ramifications of such a person being murdered, not the gruesome details. The Inventigator quickly embraced Kanna under a comforting hug.
"It's okay, he can't hurt anybody no more... We are safe now. Was he the only one?"

"Good kill, Ochiba. We gave him every chance to surrender and there is enough testimony to that. Still, we will have to spend time dealing with the Magistry." she affirmed, still holding the Little Dragon under her surprisingly warm hug, despite the cool looks.

"Stable." Akiro said. "But rather concerned. Is everyone else alright?"
He squeezed his eyes shut, then swallowed. "Thank you... for not doing as I suggested, and leaving me. I'm not sure if he would have stopped to finish me off before pursuing you, but it seems all too likely."

“Leave you to potentially die back there?” Nagisa leans forward against the steering wheel, wincing at the pain in her ribs, as she looks out at the others. “Everyone else seems to be fine, if a bit hurt. Not as bad as you.”
She eyes the man that tried to kill them. Well, his corpse. She tries to remember if she had ever seen that guy before, but can’t. “Who the actual fuck was that guy?”

Unthinking of the proper decorum at a time like this, Kanna accepted the embrace and took comfort in being held by a familiar figure.
"I... I think it was only him. He, used traps, and shot at us with a bow. It was me, Nagisa, Hiruma-san, and Yasuki Kaito-sama." She sniffled a bit, trying to compose herself. "He toyed with us like some crazy person. Said we had failed our ancestors and deserved to die."
Kanna was pretty sure she remembered the important details.
"We... we should report this to the magistrate, yes," she agreed with Ichitaiyo. "And Hiruma-san needs a hospital. The kami alone can't fix his legs."

Ochiba tosses the corpse over her shoulder
“I’m looking forward to dropping this on Kuni-sama. Think this counts as an unlicensed party.”
The crab killer is unceremoniously dumped in the boot before Ochiba calls shotgun
“Probably best I don’t drive. Well actually it might be a little too fun. Don’t worry about bleeding on the seats, this’d take one hell of a mechanic to fix out of being a writeoff.”

"His name was Kaiu Takeo. He was a soldier. Of a sort." Akiro grimaced. "A very peculiar sort. He and I clashed on more than one occassion. There were many things he disapproved of. Other Clans, non-soldiers, non-samurai... even samurai that he viewed as..." Akiro paused a moment, "-different from his ideals. And his ideals seemed to be formed based on the stories of the Crab of old."
He closed his eyes. "And yet, as strange and unpleasant as he was, I never suspected that he had this in him. It's... disturbing to contemplate, even now." Akiro shuddered, just a little.

"How horrible," Kanna shuddered. It must be difficult for Nagisa and Akiro to know that a kinsman would do this to them.
Feeling her own pain, and seeing that others were hurt, she found something to focus on that wasn't the horror.
"Let me... I can still manage to channel the kami a bit for some mending of our wounds. Allow me, please. I don't want to see people hurt anymore."
She first softly murmured the incantation, causing the kami to close up her wounds as she managed to remove the arrow in her. Continued the melodic chant of healing prayers, she was able to take out the arrow from Nagisa as well, and easen the pain of the tetsubo's blow. Lastly, perhaps the kami sensing that this was the last effort the shugenja could manage, a great amount of healing energy surged through Ochiba, cleansing away all the pain.

“Ugh… Of course he was a Kaiu. Way to make the rest of us look bad, you fucking psychopath.” Of course that was directed at Takeo and not the Hiruma.
But she is very thankful to Kanna helping her. Her rips hurt way less now. And the bleeding from the arrow and radiant bolt had stopped. “Oh… That’s so much better. Ugh, it was hard to breathe a moment there. Thanks, Tamori-sama.”
“This has… Certainly been a day. It started so good… A customer brought me sweets, I got to fuck around in Oshidama, I got to work on cars…” Finally all the stress came crashing down as all she can do is mutter her complaints. “How can a night that started off pretty damn good end up being this bad?”

Akiro swallowed. "Might we go to a hospital? I hope it's not shameful to admit that I'm a bit concerned about my injuries." He gestured at the arrow in his leg. "This is only a tingle. I... think I would almost prefer that it hurt more."

“Huh, my toothache is gone.”
Bowing her head politely to Kanna
“The kami clearly approve Kanna-san. They’ve got your back.”
Yawning and stretching
“So this guy was some old school Crab diehard? Die medium I guess. And he was doing… bad things.”
She analyses this from all perspectives for several moments before offering a hypothesis:
“Weird. Well, he didn’t count on a dog, a detective and a disgrace. Ehehehe.”
Still a little thoughtful Umm, I’m not an expert but talk to someone about this in a day or two, like a professional? I’m told some folks are really messed up by killings. Not a good or bad thing, just like allergies and stuff. So, yeah uhh talking about it apparently helps.”
Looking back at Akiro
“Just be glad you were kidnapped by someone who also kidnapped someone I cared about. And that Kaiu-san works out.”

Akiro looked back at her, blinking, speechless for a few moments.
Then he cleared his throat. "I am very grateful to Kaiu-san for bearing my weight. And to Tamori-san for healing me. And to you, Yoritomo-san, and you, Kitsuki-san, for coming to our rescue."

“Cut the guy some slack… He has broken legs.” Nagisa glances at Ochiba with the weary eyes of someone who has certainly been through shit. “Is everyone buckled in? I don’t want people to jostle around too much.”
Once everyone is appropriately fastened in to their seat belts, Nagisa starts driving towards the nearest hospital.

Somewhere, Ichitaiyo managed to squeeze onto the clown car without bothering anybody, lest she be left alone in the woods.
"I'm good. I'm just.. thinking. Can you two remember where this guy left his traps.. and the late Yasuki Kaito's body? Seems I might to go back to the scene eventually."
