Taraka gave a 'Tch' as the dreaded 'To Be Continued' was shown upon the screen.
"Well, that's annoying. I suppose it'll keep people talking about it until the next episode, but that's really got to put pressure on the writers to satisfy all those built up expectations." she mused.
She rose and put her drink in the trash.
"Still, a nice way to end the evening." she said in thanks to the host.

"End?"
Kisha blinks a couple of times.
"Wait, the party's over?"

"You're welcome to stay." Kiyoshi said. "This was a nice change to watching episodes while traveling."

Taraka was feeling pretty tired, but still.
"Well, I suppose I could linger a bit, if it's not an imposition." she relents. "I'd certainly be interesting in hearing what someone like Kitsune-san thinks of our island. I've spoken a bit to Miya-san about the people of the island, but how does it stack up for Kitsune-san?"

"It's a beautiful island." He said. "Lush and vibrant, teeming with life. I still haven't seen most of it."

"Looking at starting a new sanctuary?" Kisha puts in.

"That's my hope, if I can find enough support for it." he nodded. "There are a number of worlds with flawed ecologies or than have been overdeveloped. I'd like to promote some measure of preservation."

Taraka nods.
"Kakita Haruhi has similar interests." she offered. "If you've not gotten the opportunity to meet her, I'd be happy to put you in touch."

"We went birdwatching and have plans to do some more exploration with a few others." he smiled. "Theirs something odd going on with the jimen tori."

"Oh?"
Kisha sits up, her eyes wide with interest.
"What's odd?"

"They seem lost." he said. "They are searching for a place that they have been unable to locate. It sounds like it may be a feeding ground that their kind normally migrates to. Now, it is inaccessible or no longer exists."

Taraka considered that.
"Not unreasonable I suppose. Their habitat is the wilderness close to the shores and that's pretty popular real estate for development. In the past, farmers would shoot them because the easy access to food farms provided them really drew them in. It's discouraged now because they're endangered and a popular mascot of the island, but there's not really been put forth a good solution to actually keep them around while also keeping the developers happy." she suggested.

"That's sad," Kisha says. "And I'm guessing developers are winning out?"

"Hopefully we can locate what they're looking for and find them an adequate replacement." he said. "If we can find a way for them to get what they need without interfering with anything else, that would be the best solution."

Taraka tilts her head at that.
"Hmmm, sounds difficult. You'll really need some pull with the government to make that happen I think. Just finding a haven for them is only kicking the can down the road." she wonders.

He nodded in agreement. "I don't expect to succeed, really. But, I need to try."

One of the saddest sights you could see in a performer was passion extinguished. For ten years, this Kitsune had played 'The Goofy One' and it had clearly ground the spark of life right out of him. Of course they wouldn't save the Jimen Tori; Haruhi was trying to find a path by the light of a dead star.
She bowed politely.
"I wish you the best in your future endeavors" she said with a polite bow. "But the hour grows late, with fancon tomorrow, I really need to get some rest to make sure the staff of my store is ready. Thank you for hosting. And thank you Miya-san for thinking to invite me to accompany you."

Kisha, whom drink seems to have been affecting, snaps to.
"Of course," she says. "And I should probably head to my room, too."
So saying, she'll rise, bow a little unsteadily, and also make her /exit.
(Thank y'all!)

He bowed and bid them both farewell. Then he put the Derective to bed and made a few last preparations for the convention.
