[Day 2 - Early Afternoon] My First Market (RP Thread)

[Kitsuki Ichitaiyo]

"Soshi Kotori of Kochako - From the Soshi Entertainment and News Nework." She introduced with a respectful bow before nodding. "Of course."

She proceeded to the specified shade as she spoke.
"It seems most have been enthusiastic towards exploring rhe resort side of the island as much as the business prospects -do you not feel differently?"

Ichitaiyo hummed. "My Lord's interest surrounds the logistical element rather than the touristic. As to my own, I have yet to visit some of the landmarks. And I got gifted some day passes to a spa. I've never been to one before."

"There are two sides to every coin and one side seems have more time to dally than the other, or I suppose they call it networking - likewise I find mostly consumed by the logistics and administrative side."

The veil floats away forward slightly as a quiet sigh escapes her lips.

"Was the pass for the Natsuzora Ryokan and Spa? I did hear they do day passes. I've found the establishment to be quite nice if not on the pricier side of things - I've been residing there during my stay."

[Bayushi Hinata]

Sumiko looked at the child berating Hinata with a mix of amusement and concern. She didn't comment on the child though, instead turning to look at the wares on display.

"Oh you do have an interesting remaining selection! Why don't you tell me more about these?" she motioned to the small pile of older plushes "they look like they've got a story to them."

"A! I see you're a customer of discerning taste." Said the bushi, voice dripping with praise. "Here we have a limited edition Hida Kisada plushie as seen in the 'The Jade Bear' movies. Complete with tetsubo and the ancestral blade of the Crab, Chikara!"

"Not historically accurate but still cool!" Said the young girl.

"And over here.... This is a..."

"Jimen Tori! They're native to the planet."

"OF COURSE! A beautiful, locally relevant plushie of a fearsome bird to protecto you while you sleep!" He picked up the plushie, swaying it side to side mimicking a ponderous walk. "And... Oh! I like this one, it's a little scorpion!"

"That's a scorpion ninja. He's... supposed to get beaten by Kisada."

"Ah... Of course..."

"Admittedly so, and even then it is a skill in itself, often dismissed in lieu of something flashier. But it upon such work that empires are built. It is to tend the foundations to they might build to great heights without toppling."

[Asako Hikari]

Shiwahime still had Satoshi-kun on her shoulders for a good while until it was time for him to return to his parents with his very decent winnings.

Commerce was not her strong suit but she like kids and seemed to have done fairly well over all. Commerce is the opposite of gambling, she had been told and thus told the young Yasuki: the gambler will always prefer to put money on the table for a chance to roll the dice but the merchant would rather put the money in his pocket instead and leave the dice where it was.

Wandering in from the market area having recently helped his charge, Hikari gave a light stretch and then peered around, noticing a few faces and giving them nods before taking a drink from a bottle of water. After a moment refreshing himself, the Phoenix takes note of the Moto cyborg and pauses. That was...unexpected. He considers before wandering over and giving an upward nod to gain her attention before extending a hand to shake. "Riding with the wind or against it, Unicorn-san?"

"That, and the work samurai refuse to acknowledge." She noted, taking a moment of pause. "Mmm.. want some sorbet?"

[Kakita Haruhi]

Haruhi was free to mingle after little Miho's stall sold out.

She looked around at the mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces.

For the moment, she simply enjoyed taking in the sights of the market.

"What work? I'm sure I have no idea what you mean." She's laughed softly, the sound trailing off as she nods "Sorbet sounds nice in this weather - refreshing through this humidity. Sometimes I think it'd be better if it just rained."

Sumiko considered explaining to the girl that she was hurting any sales but it wasn't her problem. Instead she just adopted an interested face, looking over the plushies.

"A Jimen huh? A very interesting bird. I have a collection of plushies that watch over me while I sleep but who watches over them while they rest? I may be interested in that. But then who will watch over Sango-sans dreams?"

There was a pause, then a grin as she turned to the girl.

"Did you notice as well, Sango-san? Poor Bayushi-sama here has nothing to watch over him, and has taken to the little scorpion. A story of a dutiful samurai that may eventually lose but did so doing what he believed in. Wouldn't that be something good for Bayushi-sama? You can't split them now they're bonded like this! As Bayushi-sama is blessed to learn from someone who will be a great merchant in the future why don't you practice your best selling talents on Bayushi-sama to bring the Scorpion ninja home with him?"

[Moto Shiwahime]

Shiwahime had kept an eye out for her ward as he was rejoining with his family but she only could do that for so long, even being able to look over the crowd. Well that had been fun!

She turned to see if there was anything to eat or drink in this place when she noticed the approaching Phoenix

''Depends on where I feel like going, Phoenix-san.'' She took his hand to shake ''I'm Moto Shiwahime''

[Tamori Kanna]

"It's carried over from the old traditions. Born into the saddle as they say," Meanwhile Suh-Hyun was happy that her charge was doing so well, but not eager to put the suit back on. "On old Rokugan they would teach the children to ride horses almost as soon as their feet could reach stirrups. Even earlier if it could be managed. I suspect some of my kin still in the old lands maintain that tradition. Bikes have served well enough since moving to the stars."

She took a sip of water, "Does your family have any similar coming of age traditions?"

"Nothing quite as sweet as that, alas," she sighed. "Tamori are expected to be curious and inventive, so it's something we're encouraged to do from childhood on. It's not an official tradition, but many parents expect their child to have created something new of sorts - even something that doesn't necessarily work - just to show their potential."

[Shinjo Suh-Hyun]

"Nothing quite as sweet as that, alas," she sighed. "Tamori are expected to be curious and inventive, so it's something we're encouraged to do from childhood on. It's not an official tradition, but many parents expect their child to have created something new of sorts - even something that doesn't necessarily work - just to show their potential."

"I see," Suh-Hyun nodded, "Well then if I may ask, what did you create? Something you cherish or just a first step to something greater?"

"I went from bikes to gliders myself, one of the youngest to fly in my family. And the youngest child in my group to do so. Sadly that left my poor bike languishing most of the time."

[Yasuki Umiko]

"I am always willing to perform, cameras or not." He grinned. "I do understand the limitations of contracts, however, which may give me some insight I can share."

He considered the suggestions. "Nishi-kun. I'll do my best to help him."

"Oh, wonderful, Kitsune-san!" She nodded soundly at that and gave a few air flicks on the densai so that she could properly pair Kiyoshi and Nishi together. With a guiding gesture, she motioned to one side of the park they were situated in. "He has a spot reserved over at lot 56. I know some people already did their share of selling around, but the event isn't over yet, and I'm sure there's a good amount of customers left. We're happy to have both volunteers such as yourself and customers, too. Honoured visitors such as yourself are actually helping twice, in many ways."

"Our local children are already quite smart in many ways, but many haven't had the experience of stepping out in the world and selling for themselves. They just need a little push. When I sold here, I did feel nervous at first, but we managed to adapt quickly in the water, so to speak," she giggled with a few bobs of her head.

[Boogiepop]

After bidding Zenihime-chan best of luck, Ami went to observe the rest of the market. For such a storied tradition, she wore her finest Kimono. Dark black with charcoal colored webbing patterns in the material. Her silver hair clipped back with a wicked looking butterfly clip with the motif of a death's head moth.

Despite the modesty of the Kimono, it still framed her alluring form in a way that would stir hearts... or anything else. And that was by her design. She knew she was attractive and used it to her advantage.

The scent of Shahai no. 5 was heavy around her, and her make up was perfect.

Koi-kun

The mascot-suited Koi-kun would stroll up to Ami and wave a friendly wave before following up with a triumphant gesture that seemed to say 'good job!'. He gave a few claps for added effect. After a pause, he patted the mouth of his outfit in thought of how else to potentially reward the volunteer before raising a fin, he had an idea!

Reaching behind his suit, he drew out a sealed Shiawase Spring water bottle by Uomoto Co. from a hidden compartment at the back of his suit. With both fins, he graciously presented the water bottle to the Spider lady.

"That is an excellent idea Spider-san! I'll even give him a discount. But you still need to bring a plushie home yourself! Otherwise he'll have to pay full price for his poor marketing skills." Declared the young girl, a wide and almost conspiratorial smile on her lips as she leaned onto the counter to look at both full grown samurai.

"You make a compelling argument. It's been a while since I've had someone watch over me while I sleep. I guess a sly scorpion is a good pick for me neh?" He smiled the spider's way, stifling a soft chuckle as both young women ganged up on him. "Iam no merchant, but she does make a compelling argument... how about...."

The scorpion picks up the Ninja and Jimen, extending the bird over to the spider. "A little souvenir to remember Green Carp by?"

"I see," Suh-Hyun nodded, "Well then if I may ask, what did you create? Something you cherish or just a first step to something greater?"

"I... tried to make a new type of sun protection cream that would reflect light almost like how those mirrored-balls at a party might. So you could achieve a glittering look without the use of mica or other glitter-ingredients." Kanna's smile suppressed a twinge of an unpleasant memory. "Didn't work out," she chuckled a little awkwardly.

But Suh-Huyn's tale did make her smile ease back to its natural happy state. "Do everyone in your family fly then? Sounds like you were someone quite eager to take to the sky."

Hikari's grasp was firm, but polite...not that he would have a chance of overpowering the Moto's grip. Also, it would be rude.

"Asako Hikari, a pleasure to meet you. I must say, seeing some Unicorn here is a bit of a sight for weary eyes. I haven't been able to return to see my sensei in some time and whenever I see the sons and daughters of Shinjo, it reminds me that he's still out there forcing someone to count grains of sand for practicing attention to detail." He chuckles a bit and gives her an appraising look. "On shore leave?"

"I... tried to make a new type of sun protection cream that would reflect light almost like how those mirrored-balls at a party might. So you could achieve a glittering look without the use of mica or other glitter-ingredients." Kanna's smile suppressed a twinge of an unpleasant memory. "Didn't work out," she chuckled a little awkwardly.

But Suh-Huyn's tale did make her smile ease back to its natural happy state. "Do everyone in your family fly then? Sounds like you were someone quite eager to take to the sky."

"Did you at least get a good laugh out of it?" Suh-Hyun noticed the awkward chuckle and her own smile turned a little lopsided, "Or we could just move on from that."

At the question she couldn't help but grin, "Oh my yes, some of my earliest ancestors climbed into the fabric and wood planes back on old Rokugan. You know like you see in the old period pieces. From there it grabbed on to us and never let go. My family line even includes some of the earliest to go into space, back when that simple task was dangerous in the extreme." Her smile manages to grow more wide, but she at least keeps from putting the sunglasses and posing, "My greatest prestigious ancestor, Shinjo Ji-Su, was captain of the Shinjo. The original one."

She lets out a soft laugh, realizing she was getting carried away, "We still prefer the void. My elder brother and sister actually become crewman on the Ide II."

"Some laughs, but it was mostly embarrassing," she admitted sheepishly.

Even someone as oblivious as Kanna knew about the Ide II. Or at least enough to know not to really talk about it because the situation is complicated, don't worry your little head about it, and don't, just don't.

"It must've been so exciting, to be the first flyers! Both in the air and into space," she focused on the better parts instead. "But why do you prefer the void? When traveling there, I always long back to the planets - to feel wind in the air, earth under my feet. Void is so cold and lonesome."
