I'm wary of a point of confusion here. Speaking of all the rolls listed in the event, yes, those must be done and accompanied with an IC post in the Bid Event thread. To avoid future confusion, let's refer to all rolls for an Event as Event Rolls.

I want to make sure you're not referring to these, which can be done in your Personal Forum any time during the Session, and do not require a specific IC post.

Regarding the Impressive section of the event, is rolling Investigation to scour the streets for rumors of Ayame's tastes, feeling and information of whatever she might like as a gift a valid roll, or it'd be preferred if it was relegated to something more traditional like artisany?

A similar question has been asked here; please use this thread for questions regarding the Event. There will be a fresh one for each event, so as to keep all of those in the same place.

The answer is yes, you may use Investigation; any skill can be used so long as there is a good-faith effort to justify it with fluff.

Regarding the general lore, is the relationship between himin, heimin and samurai the same as thousands of years ago? As in that Samurai can legally claim a heimin's life as a reaction to disrespect, himins are not seen as humans, and heimins cannot hold any legal positions of power?

Yes, on most accounts. Heimin can be "powerful" and "influential" in the mercantile and artisan space, but ultimately are under samurai. You can end a heimin but every heimin often belongs to a samurai, so you could potentially deal with a very upset samurai.

a) I call on my Imbalanced Ring to cast a spell normally belonging to a different element?

b) I call on a different Ring to cast a spell normally belonging to my Imbalanced element?

B: while the ring and slot used change, for all other purposes, treat the spell as remaining whatever its original element was. This includes not just the Agasha technique, but also Affinity/Deficiency, and anything else similar.

If I was smarter I would have clarified this before I picked my spells, and taken one fewer in that ring.

If an Event says "Magic is not allowed", does that apply to Tonbo Shugenja's technique since it uses spell slots?

Guided by Fate – The Tonbo are adept at court as well as the ways of the shugenja, serving as they have as the Dragon Clan’s intermediaries almost since their creation. The kami’s whispers can be powerful tools in court. You may expend one spell slot to gain a bonus of +1k0 on one Social Skill Roll. You may never spend more spell slots than your School Rank to augment a single roll.

After some internal discussion, we will rule this as 'magic' in the same way that kiho and the like are considered 'magic'.

The secondary point is that +1k0 is comparable to some courtier schools already. The fact that Tonbo get that and access to spells is a bit overbearing.

Day 4: Sunny with Clouds
