[Day 9, EA] Can I Park Here?

[Yasuki Nagisa]

"Aww," Nagisa said with a deflated tone as she rested her chin on her hand briefly, perhaps going so far as showing a faint pout to show her mock disappointment over the rejection. "It was presumptuous of me that you would accept such an offer so easily, especially after our first impression. I'm sure that there are a few Crabs out there who would have been more than willing to accept my offer for a supported gentry where their only responsibility is to take custody."

She shook her head, as if chiding herself for offering such an offer. "Again, I should give our relationship some time to build. I'm sure if we, including Umiko-chan, spend more time together, we'll become fast friends soon enough. I can't be here often, unfortunately, but if I know I have more than one friend on this island, it'll only give me more reason to pursue avenues for leave time whenever I dock on the Skycarp. Perhaps one day, I could be so lucky as to provide either of you a ferry to other worlds in the Empire. The Carp's Caprice is not glamorous, but it gets the job done, at least. "

[Yasuki Honoka]

"I understand the compulsion to lavish friends with wealth and resources you possess that they do not. I also find it quite nice to see their expressions, and know the joy it brings them," she muses, almost a little bit like Nagisa wasn't there for a moment. Then, glancing to her.

"I should ask though, Yasuki Nagisa-san. I've seen a lot of negotiations fail simply because the two parties never figure out what, exactly, it is they're talking about. Often times they both want the same thing and just have two different ways of looking at it, you see. So, I think I need to ask: What does it mean to you when you call someone a friend?"

Nagisa smiled softly at the question and would finally make her way over to join her at the seat beside her. For a warehouse that had constant roofing and plumbing issues, they were some rather nice and cushy chairs. The assembly hall clearly had more money put into it than the rest of the 'Temple'.

"Well," she said at first, dipping into a more personal tone. "If someone is my friend, they become someone I'm more than willing to shower support with, however I can. I know I already mentioned money, that's such an easy gift to give when I'm hardly here. It's a bit impersonal, I know, but easily one of the best things a Yasuki can give to another. That said, I also hope to provide emotional support as well, as any friend would do. Inspire my friends to achieve more, reach their dreams, and do everything in my power to help them."

"Sooo," she said as she leaned a bit closer so that their shoulders were almost touching, as if she was willing to get closer to whisper. "If someone's dreams were something like becoming governor, let's just say as an example, especially when they've always been the eldest in the family. When they've been specifically shipped off to a more prestigious school on the mainland to get the best sensei to prepare them to govern a whole province. Then this person earned a lot of fame from their hobbies, becoming a full-fledged celebrity!...which is a great achievement in itself, but in her heart of hearts, she always wanted to become governor, because it is her right and her destiny. That's something I would help a friend achieve, even if it requires greasing some wheels and doing improper things to make it happen. Those are things I'm willing to do when I call someone a friend."

"You would give quite a lot for your friends. At least, from how you speak of it on this level it can sound quite inviting," she says, feeling the closeness of their shoulders but not shying away while also not drifting closer. Honoka was still, and in a way resolute, she would allow herself to pat Crabbo on the head gently as if one might a cat.

"I can understand," she says, looking over those near shoulders to Nagisa. Calling attention to how she saw, and knew, what Nagisa was doing. "Why Yasuki Umiko would have wanted to believe you. That you had her best interests in heart. However, there is one part we still must discuss of course. What do you then expect of your friends in turn?"

Nagisa would lean away at that and smirked. Her tone remained a bit playful and coy, still. "Oh, Honoka-chan, that's something between friends and perhaps you'll find out in time. All I'm asking is a place where I can occasionally visit, hang my hat, and make myself at home. As a travelling captain, you'll be surprised how a friendly port can make the difference between just being another boring stop and well..."

She said, gesturing to the Trinity symbol on the stage. "promised paradise for all walks of life!"

"Maybe, if you ever want to moult or find yourself with a new shell, you'll see things my way," she laughed softly before standing up. "I do have matters to attend to, unfortunately. You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like here! Oh, and please have a blessed day, Honoko-chan."

With that, she casually made her way out of the assembly hall to another part of the temple.

Honoka always, even when she didn't immediately respond, do a good job of being an active listener. She would nod, turn her head, and an assortment of other subtle movements that showed she was listening. However, as Nagisa spoke her last piece she listened a little more attentively. Letting the words in to marinate in thought.

When Nagisa says her farewell, Honoka offers a little dip of her head, "May the fortunes keep you, Yasuki Nagisa-san."

Letting the woman go she considers how much she might learn from what Nagisa said today. How much she would have to spend time deciphering the specifics from the face she put forward. Perhaps it wouldn't be that deep to another, but Honoka did not live the same life. As much as she was a good student, she was not a criminal and it would take her time to decipher that Nagisa wanted a place where she knew the governor would look the other way to their presence. It likely wouldn't fully occur to her until weeks, maybe even months later.

"What did you think of her, Hiroto-san?" she says.

"Trouble," he replies simply.

"Yes, I think I agree. I hope you will not have to worry about her again, Hiroto-san, but I suspect we will. I apologize for this."

"Worrying is my duty, don't fret over it," he would say.

Honoka would nod, look to Hiroto, and silently they would decide to leave. Having learned all that she might have wished, and so much more she would suspect.
