Kotori's presence at the event was swift as it was potent. She set up her computer, pouch of candy within reach, and got straight to work without any fanfare.

First she assessed the state of the networks, who had been spending a lot of time reinforcing, whose was too weak to bother with, how much she'd need to reinforce their own to push them ahead. She was good at this, even better at hiding her tracks.

Just one quick jab to the Mantis System - she could have gone further - would have gone further, but in the time frame she had no intention of sacrificing their own system's integrity. It was enough to put them where she needed them to be - for now. Afterwards she focused on the Scorpion's Temptress for the remainder of her time.

Then, as quickly as she had come, she left to attend to other business.

Sumiko had found her way to her computer, sitting her beloved plushie bitey on the computer and smiled.

"Shall we play with the computers Bitey-kun? I wonder what mina-sama got up to."

And then...she got to work. Normally she would just focus on her own clans work but Ami had made suggestions otherwise, and so she instead decided to investigate what other clans had been doing. There was a small frown at the Mantis, who could have done far better jobs with their work but didn't - so she quickly dived in and secured up that. Gotta help the allies as her superior said! Maybe the Mantis would learn to use a computer on their own eventually. Maybe.

After that she surveyed the rest. There was a pause, as she knew what she should do but at the same time she didn't really want to. Eventually a sense of duty did give in and she decided to test the Scorpions defenses and found it...quite solid. She was impressed, there was even a hint of a smile. At least one clan has tried to build a decent defense!

She decided to shore up the Mantis's defenses to finish up. After all they couldn't do it on their own and it seems everyone wanted to play with the Mantis's network. All in a days work. She scooped up bitey and went to wander around with her work done.

by Yasuki Taraka
Having looked over the variety of security options presented by the clans, Taraka really wanted to hack into the Spider clan. There was an interesting bug that she thought she could exploit. It wouldn't affect the standings, just give them a little black eye. However, Senshuken had made it clear that her would be business partners needed help with this. So Taraka put aside what she wanted to do in favor of what was best for business. The Scorpion security program reminded her of the stories of the Kaiu Wall. Beyond just being a big thing in the way of attackers, it was lined with trap filled passages to thin the ranks of invaders. Taraka slipped a couple extra passages into Temptress, and made sure that whomever walked down that way had a nasty surprise.

Kiyoshi was a bit disappointed that this was a security network fair. He had prepared for networking with others and establishing new contacts, making new friends.

He did what he could for the Minor Clan network, but the others seemed to have secured things fairly well. It occurred to him tat he might be better at helping some other friends....

by Kaiu Ryosei
Ryosei wasn't really much of a hacker. He knew his way around a system and could handle trouble shooting for basic problems and basic programming such as what goes into a fleshcraft's onboard systems. However network vulnerability and security was far from his expertise. However Ichitaiyo had requested his help with this specifically and Kanna had asked help with the Dragon.

so he was there, his first attempts were fruitless but he finally got his feet under him and helped shore up their defenses should others try to wear them down.

by Susumu Ami
Ami was not much of a hacker. But what she was? An emissary of the Spider, to support their allies. With a keen understanding of the fine rules of Mantis Capitalism, she went to work.

The free hand of the market did slap her down once, but with her understanding of bear and bull markets, and how to make the most coin. She grinned to herself, as she worked. A wink to her allies, with a small little wave, before heading back to observe the rest of the event.

by Agasha Sorato
Distracted by a memo from his superiors, Sorato arrives somewhat late to the network security fair... and inspects the standings with a somewhat sinking feeling. He really doesn't know much about programming or system security. There's no way he can make the Phoenix model into an impressive performer today--certainly not on his own. On the other hand... his Mantis friends are doing really well, and his friend Kanna's Dragon team is only a little bit behind. Moreover, the ROOF network is using an open source theological protocol he's actually familiar with, a bit. Maybe if he adjusts these ports...?

The event is closed.

At the conclusion of the exhibition gathering, the local Crab (mostly the technical experts on network security) evaluated each respective defence model to see who might be the most prepared potential partner.

The Mantis Clan's Pay.Wall at a Network Integrity Rating of 34 showed a lot of promise, its model acted as a good intimidating deterrent from hackers.

The Dragon Clan's Root Online Output Freeware at a Network Integrity Rating of 31 ensured that hackers would find themselves either facing a mountain of an obstacle, unless they spend(waste) time dwelling under a waterfall for the answers...

Finally, the Scorpion Clan's Temptress at a Network Integrity Rating of 28 was both sweets and poison at the same time, able to catch foolish hackers who thought they could take the easy way in.
