(D6 EA expecting) Mystery Inc and the Spooky Temple

Sumiko nodded to Katsumi before making her way indoors also.

The double front doors to the temple weren't locked, so the Mystery Inc. gang could enter without an issue. However, once inside, they were greeted by the Hida soldier standing right at the entrance, like she had fully intended to watch them like a hawk. She stood there with her arms crossed and her rifle slung over her shoulder.



The warehouse itself was half-converted into a loft, it seemed. The left half of the warehouse seemed mostly warehouse storage space, with several skids kept to the side where the bay doors were found. At a glance, they seemed to hint at various cans of foodstuffs, namely those that are canned or preserved for storage without any refrigeration.

The other side of the warehouse seemed to have several rubber mats and rugs rolled out on the ground to make it more livable for some of the occupants, with several curtain walls dividing the space to function as both living space and gathering space. There were a few chairs and even rows of bunk beds that were found here, looking to house perhaps around 20 inhabitants. The doors and the interior windows to the connected office space seemed to have been repurposed as a sort of assembly hall with several rows of seating found inside.

At the moment, the flooring seemed wet. It might have seemed like the water came from the ceiling, but the brownish colour might have suggested actually it was actually a plumbing backup from the overflow of rain. A good roof would do well in a storm, but an equally good pump was also needed.

Other than the singular iconography, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of religious imagery. No space to cleanse oneself in the traditional way, nor any sort of shrines erected dedicated to any Fortune. If this weren't named a temple, it might have been merely mistaken for a converted living space. They might have kept it to a minimum on purpose to escape some scrutiny.

The heimen who were working previously slowly emerged from their hiding spots inside and returned to work, doing their share of mopping, extracting water, rolling up some of the curtains or carpets that might have been soaked by the resulting water backup in the plumbing. It didn't smell particularly appetizing here to say the least.

"'How does one...worship light?" She asked curiously. Despite being here for a few years, she never bothered to come out here.

[Boogiepop]

The Hida, who will never introduce herself, seemed content in standing close guard of the party here. She had her rifle, her tetsubo, and maybe intimidation. What else did she need to do?

"Everyone gathers at the assembly hall to worship about twice a week. Pray and sing songs. Offer donations in money," the Hida would offer simply.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"When are those services held?" The Kitsune asked.

[Boogiepop]

The Hida let out a sigh, seemingly straining herself to remember the temple schedule, all while casting a watchful look around the place. She eyed a few heimen, ensuring that they go about their business and then double-checked that the visiting group before her didn't stray too far.

After some reluctance, she would say, "...I think there's something of a service planned by the Elder Librarian about 2 days from now. On the 25th of Dog."

While the Hida didn't allow them to wander too far, the group got to see the heimen go about their cleanup work. It seemed most of the temple was situated on the ground level, and the few rooms that could be reached were up on the catwalk. Most of the flooding they had to deal with was on the lower level. The heimen crew would be bringing up water and tossing it outside, which caused a good amount to spill out in their haste.

They also brought up garbage and various things that were spoiled by the waters, bagging them to be tossed later. There were spoiled packaged rations, an abundance of ruined clothing, waterlogged codices of their religion, and a good amount of computer parts. Actually, a curious amount of computer parts.

Assuming Sumiko noticed/is told of this also, there was a curious look at the computer parts.

"The flooding looks quite serious, are the computers completely destroyed?"

[Boogiepop]

The Hida raised a brow for a moment, as if to wonder how Sumiko even came to that conclusion herself. She would look around and realize the heimen were bagging a few loose boards, wires, casings, and everything typically needed to build a functioning kami-powered computer.

She would ignore the Spider and address the group in general. "You were about to leave now, we're busy here."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"You do seem to be," Kazushi agrees.

Turning to the rest of his companions, he continues, "I think we did have another engagement planned?"

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"That is correct, Bayushi-sama." The Fox nodded and glanced around one more time. "I hope recovery progresses quickly. I appreciate a temple that venerates nature. Hopefully, I can return for the service."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

As he departs, Kazushi moves closer to his companions, saying quietly, "I don't have a lot of experience with religious-types, but aren't they usually more...I don't know, welcoming than that? This feels more like a covert operation."

[Susumu Sumiko]

Sumiko had bowed to the Hida then made her way out after the others. She frowned a little at Kazushi's comment, nodding.

"Hai, they seemed very unhappy about us noticing the computer parts. I suspect more is going on than simple end of the universe religions. I'd like to push further but I'm not the right one for it I think."

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"I agree. It's all very odd." He nodded. "I'll return in a couple of days."

[Susumu Sumiko]

"Be careful. I know I said I may not be the right one due to being Spider but going alone might not be wise" Sumiko looked back at the temple.

[Kitsune Kiyoshi]

"You're not wrong. But, the more strangers they see, the more defensive and hostile they'll be." He shrugged.
