D5EA- Spectating the Tournament (Open)

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"Only those who are prepared to fail rest on their alliances," Kazushi replies. "If you're not ready to seize victory, no one's going to do it for you."

[Miya Kisha]

"Yasuki-san has been a generous host to me," Kisha says. "And he's quite the hot hand on a grill, too!"

[Yasuki Kaito]

"I try my best, thank you, and I'm glad that my hosting abilities have stayed in your thoughts, Miya-san!" Kaito snickered at Kisha's comment, putting a hand on his chest as a dramatic show of how humbled he was.

"You're just lucky to run into a great guy who's willing to play with fire. Sorry about burning the squid a little bit." He couldn't help but snicker again. "Tama Izakaya, great place, if you haven't checked it out yet, Bayushi-sama. Don't miss out on the self-grill menu they got for the upstairs table."

"Sorry to suddenly dip like this, but I have to make a few other calls," he said with a bow to excuse himself. "I'll see you both in a few days! Have a great.."

He paused for a moment to look at the card players playing the card game. What does he say in this situation?

"...card game. Be easy now."

With that, he went to take the elevator down.

[Miya Kisha]

Kisha will bow to the departing Yasuki, then turn to Kazushi.

"So, looking forward to tomorrow, now?"

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"It sounds like it's going to be interesting, at least," he replies. "I was quite taken with Crabkaku as a result of my first visit, and I'd like to see it get the attention it deserves."

[Miya Kisha]

"What'd you have there?" Kisha asks. "I was quite taken with the little crab-shaped confections, myself."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"Just the crab cakes, but they were quite good," he says. "The local atmosphere and charm is what drew me in."

[Miya Kisha]

"There's a lot of local atmosphere to go around," Kisha says. "Tango seems to be working hard to be itself, if that makes any sense. What all I've seen of it looks to be a good thing; there are so many places that seem to want to be like everywhere else, and so many that work to be not some other place. Makes it stand out, and for the better."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Kazushi nods in agreement and approval.

"It takes a lot of courage to be different," he says, "but the rewards are often worth the risks. It's good to see the governor working to establish a unique regional character, even I do find some aspects of it...unusual, I suppose would be the word."

[Miya Kisha]

"I have to wonder how much of it is work to restore or promote older practices," Kisha muses, "and how much is new. I don't have enough background to know, and I've probably not been as good about asking as I ought to have been."

The shisha shrugs. "What about all of this has struck you as unusual, Bayushi-san? I know what stands out for me, but your experiences differ from mine; where our ideas overlap is probably a better vision than either of us can muster alone."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

Kazushi shrugs.

"There seems to be a preoccupation with popular culture and games," he begins, "although that may be odd for me to point out, having just departed a card game tournament. That blood wraith thing, though...there was an unusual amount of effort put into that over what was essentially a conflict over editions. Pirate broadcasts, a message burned into the wall of an abandoned resort - it's the sort of thing I would expect from a proper coup attempt, not a game."

[Miya Kisha]

"Wait, what was that about the resort?" Kisha asks. "I hadn't heard anything about that."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"Oh! Um, that should probably be off the record," Kazushi says, his face reddening a bit, "as we weren't supposed to be up there. Yeah, it seems Kuni Sumie or one of her crew burned their 'Forever Night' slogan into the wall inside the abandoned resort up on Mount Nakahama. A couple of us got bored one day and decided to try checking it out - I thought it might be a good investment opportunity for the Department, but it would take a lot of work to get it up and running..."

[Miya Kisha]

"I understand wanting to investigate things," Kisha says. "And I suppose there's some...childish attraction in petty vandalism. But why was the resort abandoned?"

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"That, we weren't able to discover," replies Kazushi. "There weren't any adverse conditions - at least, none that made themselves apparent while we were there. I would guess that the problem was financial in nature - an investor got cold feet, perhaps, or an unexpected market swing pushed costs above what they could cover."

The designer shrugs.

"Research and history aren't my strong points, I'm afraid," he admits.

[Miya Kisha]

"That's good," Kisha says. "It means you've left something for the rest of us!"

She smiles, the expression genuine.

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"If there's anything about the site that might explain why it was chosen, I'm sure you'll be able to track it down," Kazushi replies. "It could be most helpful in determining why the whole affair was handled with such seriousness..."

[Miya Kisha]

"I'll see if I can look into it," Kisha replies. "I'm fairly booked for the next couple of days, but I'll do what I can to squeeze it in."

[Bayushi Kazushi]

"You have my thanks," Kazushi says with a bow. "It looks like the tournament's wrapping up, so I suppose it's time to move on."

[Miya Kisha]

"Seems that way," Kisha replies, giving a short bow. "Carry the Fortunes, Bayushi-san."
