(Expecting) Dinner before, during and after the show. [Day 4, EE]

"Complicated is a word for it." He makes that wobbly hand motion "My parents weren't born into the kuge but they built the company and they likely wield a similar amount of influence now."

At the rest of her explanation he shrugged "Hey if it's good enough for your Lord and clan it's good enough for me. I got no place to judge you. Privateer, pirate, whatever it is you do as long as you aren't doing it to Crab I see no problem with it."

He finished off his food and considered her for a moment "So when you aren't sailing the astral oceans what do you like to do, outside of partying, drinking, that sort of thing. How do you fill the quiet hours?"

Blink blink. "Quiet hours? I'm not a huge quiet hours person, always stuff to do, you know. I guess sometimes I lounge? I have lounged at the beach?"

She sits back and makes liberal use of her napkin.
"Ummm, religion is important to me...I know that sounds pretty lame but I always believe in showing the fortunes and kami the respect they're owed, priests too."
She makes a warding gesture.
"That's just being sensible, and Daikoku-no-fortune has blessed me, so he always needs some offerings and prayers. Otherwise...hmmm, does hiking count? I kinda like hiking, fishing sometimes if there's company. It's weird, I like buying things but not exactly shoping."

She shrugs at that, not entirely sure why.
"What about you? You got your whole fleshcrafting and helping people thing going, sounds kinda zen. But I imagine there's more to you, the handsome mysterious stranger."

It was his turn to blink a little "I....don't know why but hearing you are a religious woman is a bit surprising. Not bad or anything, just not something I expected. Though I know it is common for Mantis to honor Daikoki-no-fortune."

"Nature is a big one for me as well, I actually went on a hike with a small Dragon woman and a Phoenix a couple of days ago to see the top of the mountain. It was definitely worth the hike. If you haven't had a chance to check it out I'd be happy to visit again. We might even see the birds again."

"Other than those though I enjoy a good book and honestly I spend a decent amount of leisure time just tinkering with machinery."

She chuckles as the waiters returns to clear away the starters and then deposits larger steaming plates of thick noodles.

"Can't imagine me as a Miko? Fair enough, very different vibe."
Picking up her chopsticks and rubbing them between her hands in excitement at the food.
"Yeah, getting out into nature, maybe fighting a giant lizard, I really like that. Glad we got some overlap there. Were these two other samurai a Tamori and a nerdy Agasha, by any chance?"

And then slowly twirling her chopsticks around to trap a giant noodle and start lifting it.
"You're a smart dude, so no surprises you're a reader too. What do you read? Science stuff?"

He nodded with a small smile "They were yea, I assume you have met them."

"As far as books go, it's a little bit of everything. "Smart books," romance, action, horror, mystery. I'll really try just about anything. Give me a warm cup of tea, a rainy day, and comfortable blanket and that's one of my favorite ways to unwind after a stressful day."

He too looked excited for his food and also thoughtful "So that's where you've been but where are you going? Have any plans or goals?"

He nodded with a small smile "They were yea, I assume you have met them."

"Damn, cozy!..Wish I could do that, maybe, dunno. I might try it once, have to be really rainy though."

He too looked excited for his food and also thoughtful "So that's where you've been but where are you going? Have any plans or goals?"

She gestures with her chopsticks, dragging one long noodle up out of the bowl as she points straight up.
"All the way to the top, captain, admiral, whatever I can get, however I can get it. I want it all and I'm gonna take it."
She certainly seems dead serious.

"I want a big house and more koku than I know what to do with, don't care where it is but somewhere nice. I want people to see me and bow and say nice things, and either say good things behind my back or be too scared to say bad things."
Shrugging.
"You know, normal goals most samurai want, you?"

"Damn, cozy!..Wish I could do that, maybe, dunno. I might try it once, have to be really rainy though."

"Maybe I can give you a demonstration and we can try it out if the weather gets bad one day you're here." He chuckles and slurps a noodle.

His smile gains an amused light to it as she talks "Well I can't say I'm surprised. You have that air of ambition about you. I wish you luck in that endeavor." He says genuinely. It was a life he'd had, he didn't romanticize it, it was comfortable and there were somethings he missed but he was plenty wealthy on his own at the moment.

He paused a little when she asked him about his goals. Debating. "Weeeelll you did let me look at your scans and you've been straight up with me from the jump so I'll return that trust."

"My goal in life is to be an inventor, to design and create things that will change lives. Right now I'm working on a.....battlesuit you could call it. A set of armor that fully encapsulates the wearer making them nigh impervious to harm from all but heavy radiant weapons. It would also allow for computer integrated heads up display, targeting systems, and augment the wearer's physical strength greatly."

He paused "I know it sounds like something from one of my comics but....I want to make what I do become less and less necessary. I've seen what losing pieces of yourself does to people and if I can prevent that, it's a life well spent."

"Maybe I can give you a demonstration and we can try it out if the weather gets bad one day you're here." He chuckles and slurps a noodle.

There’s a pause and she blinks.

“That… is one of the coolest things I have ever heard. An actual superhero suit? Where you could-“
She mimes flying
“And then pow…pow! Beeeyong! Neeeom!”
That was probably laster blasts

“I thought you were just making cool prosthetics but you’re like… a Crab super engineer.”
Looking across the table at him.
“Can’t believe I was in your garage and I didn’t get to see a prototype battlesuit. You definitely need to have me over sometime then.”

He then shook his head "oh no no Yoritomo-san, I'm not even to the point of making prototypes yet. I have schematics, ideas, I'm afraid Crab technology is not yet at the point to answer the questions I have. Power source is a problem, need to miniaturize the power source to make it portable. Weight is the other issue, thick steel surrounding a person is too heavy even for the enhanced strength. I...." He paused chuckling "I won't bore you by delving ito the nitty gritty of it but right now it's just a dream."

"I have some ideas, it's just like your engineering work. We'll start with detailed scans and then with the aid of some tools make something magical."
Ochiba winks shamelessly.

He then shook his head "oh no no Yoritomo-san, I'm not even to the point of making prototypes yet. Despite absolutely 0 understanding of the science involved the Mantis was fully on board and fully supportive.

"Got no doubts at all."
She finishes her last noodle with a slurp and grins.

Then the smile he seemed to perpetually sport around Ochiba grew a bit. Her positivity and confidence was a little infectious and he chuckled lightly "Well I am honored to have your support. Your certainty has me feeling confident myself. It'll be a long road regardless."

He was finishing up his own food and he looked to her with a smile "So, I had a good time here. Would I be off the mark assuming you'd want to go out again sometime?"

"-Since we have the LARP going on so I can't invite you back to my place. Guess score one point for meaningful relationships." She winks with an accompanying tongue click.

"Let's head out again somewhere soon, something active! What do you have in mind? Bet you know some cool spots."

He nods though "I know a few places if you're good for one of those hikes you mentioned. Getting to some nice vistas requires a bit of actual rock climbing albeit short rock climbing. We could check out the mountain, day after tomorrow? Early in the morning we can catch the sunrise if you're that kind of early riser."

"Id tell you that I'm worth the wait but that feels a bit too full of myself even on a good day like today." He laughed

"Then it's a date. I assure you they are not it's a hike I've made before and it's demanding but the view is worth it. It's also rather secluded especially at that hour."

“Oh yeah, now we’re talking. Okay, early morning, two days, hiking gear! Kuni-san, you are on!”
Checking her communicator

“Oh shit. And I need to be off. I got nerds to throw beanbags at.”

"You want a ride? Or you got that sorted?" He said as they start walking out. He clicks the keys and a luxury brand sports car lights up as it unlocks.

"They'll never know what hit em" he said as the engine roared to life and they sped out of the parking lot racing toward the event and the dark web of machinations and foam weaponry.
