I mean, he MIGHT be actually designing drones in the lab instead of just crying. It was possible.

"But yes I am most definitely my mother's daughter. My elder sister takes more after my father and my younger......well you can say she's a very different mix of their traits."

That was a charitable way to say Angry, right?

"So how is your family, Yoritomo-san?" she asked, trying to move away from speaking of her own.

"So how is your family, Yoritomo-san?" she asked, trying to move away from speaking of her own.

"Understandable." To a degree. Foolish otherwise. "Perhaps a visit to the monastery might help? Grandfather quite likes it at the Shrine of Wealth." Or a more permanent stay, but Yakura was too tactful to say that. Yay for small miracles.

"That happens. I have a younger sister and she is..not like me. Well, in certain ways, she is. In other ways, she prefers more actions than numbers. She's serving in the navy." Ish....sort of. Kind of. Technically.

"I also have a younger brother, but he's fairly young. I think my parents won on the station lottery and got an allotment for another child. I was actually thinking of lobbying for him to study at one of the Academies here on Green Carp. My father is from here, after all. He's busy doing the accounting back at home, while my mother works the floor of the casino area. Luckily, I've inherited from both of them."

Taraka nodded.

"Having your younger brother on this world would be a boon surely. Another person to help out with the Dragon, and he would surely benefit from all our world has to offer." she encouraged.

"Yeah, take him to the beach, corrupt his morals, all good Mantis sibling stuff." SHe said with a smile. "It's a lovely place really. Glad I'm here now. You ever visited anywhere off-world?"

Taraka nodded a bit.

"Well, really only during my mandatory military service. I worked in supply corps. There was a lot of time riding a desk, but I also piloted transport shuttles from Crab world to Crab world from time to time." she admitted.

She looked over to the Mantis.

"I know you're not originally from here, have you travelled much across the Empire?"

"Huh, so that is where your wicked piloting skills come from." She said with a smile. "Some, mainly just stopping by New Kalani before coming over to here." She leaned back slightly. "What are your siblings up to? Do they work in the business as well?"

Taraka shook her head.

"Not anymore." she admitted. "Oh sure, we've all helped in the past. But now that Mizuki-san is married, she's managing her husband's estate and Seiko-san is currently off-planet serving in the Navy."

Yakur asmiled a bit sadly. "Holding down the fort alone then, Yasuki-sama. I hope you're not feeling too alone though. You're a wonderful presence."

Taraka smiled a bit.

"You make me think of that old scene in the movie where the villain accepts the hero's challenge, 'Just you and Me and my GUARDS!' she said, though she only stressed the word guards, rather than actually belt it out like the villain did.

"I don't think of myself as particularly lonely, Yoritomo-san. I've got plenty of co-workers, staff, and friends, of which I'm happy to count you in." she said, taking a sip of the tea.

"You're not....feeling particularly lonely, are you Yoritomo-san? I can imagine with all the people celebrating on your boat, you might feel a bit...detached from them. Alone in a crowd as it were."

"Ah, good to hear. It can be lonely at the top." Yakura shrugged. "To be honest..I do miss my family. And well, just in general, others of my clan? I enjoy Crab company, as I am pretty sure I am thriving here." SHe replied with a smirk. "But sometimes it would be good to have some more familiarity ,you know?" She shrugged again.

It was true, with the state of the Empire's politics, there wasn't likely a huge Mantis community on Green Carp with the whole Spider alliance thing. Mantis sensibilities did mesh well with Yasuki ones, but they still weren't the same, and the Yoritomo probably struggled a bit with that at times.

There wasn't really a clever solution to this. It was just how the world worked.

"You're at least 13 of my best women Yasuki-san." She replied with a giggle. "And please, call me Yakura." She raised an eye. "And what new things would you like to try, eh, Yasuki-san?"

"Takara-san, then." she returned. It was nice to close the distance between the two.

She looked thoughtful at the question.

"Well, I'm not super well versed in Mantis traditions, Yakura-san." she admitted. "is there something along those lines that you'd really like one more person along for the ride for?"

"Eh...getting drunk and making bad decisions?" She offered weakly. "I don't think there is something that is super traditional that comes to mind. More like..." She shrugged. "The atmosphere?"

Taraka laughed at that.

"Crab are pretty fond of the drink, it's true. And I don't think we can schedule a bad decision..." she offered. "Hmmmmmmmmm....what about fashion? If you could acquire some clothing that's fashionable on Mantis worlds, we could spend a night trying them on."

"Now see, that is something I can get behind! Or before. Or around. You know. A bottle of nice booze, some nice dresses, and just...." She waved her hand around. "You know. Girlie chaos."

Taraka nodded firmly.

"We should definitely find time to make that happen." she agreed. "Fortunately, there's someone with a keen eye for fashion and owns a boat, I think the chances might be good it does."
