This really depends and works on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes with RP to justify it.

Also, be warned, there is bound to be some XP tax associated with it, at least a rate of D + 2 or D x 2. Again, case by case.

If I want to show Haruhi working on first Nakahama avi-drone schematic (the jimen tori), I know I can do a flavor scene of her working away.

But are there guidelines on timing on craft stuff? Should I make a crafting roll? Expect it to take X days IC?

Quite curious. I think ultimately, yes, you're not supposed to qualify. Our apologies about that.
