"I did ask..." Even through her helmet, Suh-Hyun would be able to tell that the words were said through clenched teeth. And while there was definitely a certain heat to how Akito's arms had first slid around her waist, they grew a touch tighter. And yet, as she skillfully maneuvered the little vehicle, dodging an oncoming truck that seemed ready to send them to reincarnate in another world, he laughed, exhilarated. Thrilled, or laughing at his fear? If Akito was being totally honest it was a bit of both.
Akito was not a samurai of means. His home was one of a block of apartments; pleasant, but clearly on the small side. As soon as the bike came to a stop, his feet hit the ground, thankfully not moving anymore. "You did..." Akito said, laughing somewhat breathlessly. "I should have listened..."
He was instantly aware of Suh-Hyun's closeness as she turned, his eyes finding hers, and then dropping down to trace the curves of her lips. In an instant, two thoughts went through Akito's mind. First, was that when they were both sitting, their height difference was much less. Second was Suh-Hyun's words from before: if you hesitate, you have already lost.
Akito didn't hesitate.
His hand came up to gently touch her cheek, even as he leaned forward, guiding their lips together. It was no brief kiss, but a lingering one, both tender and passionate, and heedless of the drops of rain that ran down both their faces, shared between their lips.
